Needing to get an iWhatever to get the best results in a console/PC game is like saying you need to buy a new washing machine to watch the end scene on a DVD.

Soon enough, some game developers will design a video game for children that will come with a device to make certain that they are doing their chores on time for an entire month. Only through doing their chores will they be able to beat said video game.

Fight 'em, AdmiralCheez!

I think this discussion is pretty funny.

Also, I'm not in my mom's basement.

I see it both ways. In a way, I kind of like the fact that I have to work for it. I can not only take more credit for my ending, it adds more gametime to my playthrough. I still, however, find it "cheap" to have something like this. It's almost like a "cheat" for people who have iPhones/iPods/iPads, a short cut that would almost ruin the game for me. If I had an Apple device... I'm not even sure if I'd even then use the "Galaxy at War" system. I just find it straight and simple, stupid.

I very much doubt that doing multiplayer or these little games will "break" the main game.  I expect a marginal boost at best.  And judging by the suicide mission.. the perfect ending probably wont take much effort.

..... Why are people like this? "oh my God. mass effect is not just a video game but on Facebook, a social network for Peope that have friends... Zomg I hate it! And now they are having mobile mass effect! Ahh I live in my mom's basement and she doesn't give me enough of an allowance for a mobile plan... I hates it"
Yeah that's all I keep hearing from whiners sorry...

Well actually, I live on the upper floor. I do live with my mother but that is because I am only 17. Another point would be that you can't "hear" anything but can simply read and interpret it the way you see fit. Also, I have a part time job as a technology salesman in a retail establishment so I therefore make my own money. It is not that my mother "doesn't give me enought of an allowance for a mobile plan" but that I do not like Apple thus do not have an iPhone or iPod. So for people like me, things like this can really get: annoying, frustrating, etc. Comments like yours just make you look and sound like an imbecile and the way you interpret people who are complaining, like me, it frankly insulting. We have much right, and reason, to complain. Thank you.

Yeah, but you're complaining that, while you can get a "perfect" ending with the game alone, you can't participate in the alternative... railing against an alternative.  I get you're pissed you can't play it (because it's damn silly to be pissed that you HAVE to), but it sounds like "well if i can't do it, i don't want anyone else to be able to."

Once again, with feeling, it's not a requirement.  At all.

I'm not complaining that other are able to have it. I am in no way saying "Well if I can't do it, I don't want anyone else to be able to." I'm more complaining because of it in general.. I'm happy that you guys get it, but you can't blame me for being upset that I can't. It's a feature, a cool one at that, that I am unable to use because of my preference in mobile company. It's like people who compain about exclusive DLC, they're not saying "The DLC shouldn't exist because I can't have it" they're saying "I should have it too!" You see what I mean?

That's... brilliant, actually.  Deviously brilliant.  Evil genius brilliant.

BUT at least none of those kids would have to shell out an additional $300 to let the game know that they are, in fact, doing their chores.

Why thank you. Perhaps I should market this idea to EA. It seems to go rather well with their business model for their games at the moment anyway. Actually, you are right. My idea isn't good enough. The only way to resolve that is to force them to pay $300 for the apparatus that will in turn watch them do their chores.

Their parents will.. We're the DLC generation!  We are the 99%.. of the game purchased.. the rest is extra.

While it may not be "huge" it still counts for something. It's still going to make the "perfect ending" easier to achieve.
And I won't compare ME3s ending to ME2s. From what I've read and heard ME3 will be more complex than ME2 and the perfect ending will be harder to get. It's going to be a tough battle..

Jesse Schell gave a brilliant presentation on this subject "The Gameification of Life" at the DICE summit a couple of years ago.  This idea is definetly going to be a reality in the future.

Let's just hope that we aren't all going to be plugged into a system that gives us expereince points for things like washing dishes, buying a certain product at the grocerry store, or driving under the speed limit...  Can you imagine checking on your friend's "life" stats?

See, if I were Microsoft, I'd release the rights as a goodwill gesture.  I mean, they put Kinect in the damn thing.  KINECT!

But Kirrahe, Fist, Shiala, and Rana Thanoptis don't give you the best ending.  You miss content, sure, but so does everyone that doesn't buy DLC.  That said, you don't need DLC to beat the game, either.

I am really, really hoping that all this iFace/PadBook really ISN'T required to win, and that it just provides bonus points that let you skip sidequests, like the devs said.  That's fair.  But if not...

It's not.  One of the devs said it isn't.  I'd take the SP/MP achievements as proof of this.
