It's seems pretty obvious that GaW will work like this:
Do some non-singleplayer campaign stuff ---> Get some GR points
I intend to go digging around for this post, but I did see that there was a thread earlier today that suggested that the way the GaW works is that the single-player actually does have a constant Galaxy Readiness and what effects your ability to "win" is a Military Strength Value that is multiplied by your Galaxy Readiness. So assuming you had 1000 Strength and 50% Readiness, you would have a score of 500. What the multiplayer and other things would do is increase your Galaxy Readiness, so assuming you played some MP and got GR of 75%, you would need less Military Strength to have that same score of 500 than a SP-only player that would need 1000 to do it.
EDIT: @AxisEvolve: Technically, that particular journalist never stated who that deterioration applies to. Assuming the above suggestion is correct, that effect might end at 50%. That would mean that those who involve themselves with the other means of gaining resources would be the ones that get that effect. BioWare stated that the boost from these other resources effects all of your games, so this would be the only way to counteract a gamer from getting a 100% Readiness after playing 10 hours of multiplayer and have it for all of their save for the rest of their life.
