Chobot doesn't make it tacky? Are you serious? Chobot is nowhere near the league of Keith David, and not even close to the league of Mark Meer or Yvonne Strahovski. She's a games journalist who got the job because she's considered hot.

Keith David is an actor (and a great one at that.)
Mark Meer is a voice actor.
Yvonne Strahovski is an actor.
Chobot is a "journalist."

Which doesn't belong?

If you knew anything about Chobot, her getting the job is more about her being a big fan of Mass Effect more than it is about her looks.

Yeah, is that what they tell you? The gaming media (especially IGN and G4) prey on gamers who think that a hot woman could be one of their own. She got attention because of her mixing sexuality and games.

She got the IGN gig because she modeled with a PSP. Not because she was a legit journalist or anything.

Kinect is making it tacky? How? Forza has kinect, it isn't tacky,

lol, whut now? Kinect on Forza is the textbook definition of Tacky. It is COMPLETELY useless, and makes the game less fun. Using it while driving...yay what fun!! no gas, no brakes...computer handles all that stuff, all you get to do is move your hands pretending to steer. FUN!!

And im hoping there's a part in ME3 where Chobot can die....cant wait to make it happen.

Is that what they tell me? No, it's not what they tell me. It's what I know from following Chobot on twitter for the past two years and reading a bunch of rants and raves she's made since emerging in the spotlight about how much she loves Mass Effect.

Unlike some people here, I'm not blinded by fanboyism or by some vaguely attractive chick.

You may have a point, OP.

Now look up Tricia Helfer and Yvonne Strahovski.  Or for that matter, any attractive woman who works in the entertainment industry.

I really don't care about Jessica Chobot. But then again, I'm not a guy nor a teenager.

But I really don't see how the rest makes the game gimmicky. And even Jessica Chobot doesn't. 1) We don't know how big her role is right now. She might have a small role, along the likes of Adam Baldwin's Kal'Reegar or the handful of characters Michael Dorn (he was Worf in Star Trek The Next Generation if you don't know) was in ME2. 2) Also, just because she's a reporter doesn't mean she can't try to get into new things. We have barely seen anything of her in the game, so we don't really know if she's terrible at voice acting or not.

What do you guys think? Are all these things really necessary? Or are they just making the game feel tacky and cheap? Should  Biowares efforts be focused on other aspects of the game?

Yes, they are. I'm expecting Dr. Pepper machines on the Normandy in the future...

Look, they are free to do all the tie-ins and marketing they want, but there comes a point when a franchise starts to feel more like a marketing machine and less like a creative product. Is the point of the game to create a lasting impression with customers? Or is it simply a vehicle for advertising?

...Obviously I'm not going to get through to you. I appreciate the fact that you aren't fawning over her, but seriously you have to consider the fact that a large percentage of gamers who read gaming news love Mass Effect; it's a pretty easy connection to make.

You're not in any sort of public spotlight nor do you work in any part of the game industry, that's why.

Have to say, not the best examples. Miranda, disliked by many for her catsuit, and nu-Cortana?

But, neither has all six images of them in a bikini.

You don't need to be famous. I'm in ME3. I play a husk, very convincingly I might add.

Chobot might not have put herself in because she's attractive, but bioware did. She's not a voice actress, she's not an actress, and I doubt she auditioned. She's nerdbait, plain and simple.

It's a pretty easy conclusion to jump to.  The character is wearing a form fitting casual dress and everyone is acting like she wore noting but some panties and Jack's nipple straps and has Samara boobs.  If that were the case, then fine, rage away.  But she wears nothing out of the ordinary unless you like in some rural farm town with three hundred people in it.

You're missing the point: it's stupid to judge any publicly-known attractive female on the basis of the images that pop up on a Google image search. In pretty much every single case, you will get a lot of pics in which the clothing is less than substantial.

Having Chobot in it seems pretty gimmicky, but thankfully I've never really paid much attention to her, so it won't make much difference to me.

As for everything else, I'm going to reserve judgement for the game itself. This Galaxy At War system feels VERY gimmicky from the outset, though.

That's a good point there. That is ultimately the main reason that they got Felicia Day for Dragon Age 2. Felicia Day has experience acting and voice acting though.

But either way, still don't think Jessica Chobot makes the game gimmicky, even if I disagree with her being in the game.

I couldn't care less about the suit, it's far better than Miranda's catsuit. I'm talking about Chobot herself.
I'm saying that her Twitter posts are nerdbait. She might love Mass Effect, but this is very much IGN's MO.
