Is ME3 becoming a bit too gimmicky??

I always found the most appealing aspect to ME being the serious and mature tone the series set.
I'm starting to feel a bit out of my comfort zone here though....
What's with all these weird add on's? Multiplayer (which is looking pretty sick now I have to say)Kinect, IPod app... Even things like adding Chobot to the cast is pretty gimmicky, just an excuse to name drop really. I don't think I'm gonna use half these features... Probably just multiplayer a few times :/
What do you guys think? Are all these things really necessary? Or are they just making the game feel tacky and cheap? Should Biowares efforts be focused on other aspects of the game?
You said something very interesting off the bat, you said that you're starting to feel a bit out of your comfort zone.
That's a huge problem with folks, just beyond gaming, but with different folks. People don't like to go off the path too much...
I've always been open minded to nearly anything, for me I'm very happy to see tweaks/changes with the gameplay, MP and I'm glad more characters are being added.
Ultimately will it be the result that fulfils me or anyone else, well you won't know until you play it. So play it and if you still feel this way, then cool.

Exactly. People who can't see it as a marketing stunt need to take the blinders off.

You're missing the point: it's stupid to judge any publicly-known attractive female on the basis of the images that pop up on a Google image search. In pretty much every single case, you will get a lot of pics in which the clothing is less than substantial.
I'm not judging her as a person. I'm judging public perception of her, based on the company's (Google) priority of images. The fact that all of them have her in bikini says that the public perception of her...trends that way, shall we say.
And, Ali Hillis. The woman that does Liara and Light<3.

lol, whut now? Kinect on Forza is the textbook definition of Tacky. It is COMPLETELY useless, and makes the game less fun. Using it while driving...yay what fun!! no gas, no brakes...computer handles all that stuff, all you get to do is move your hands pretending to steer. FUN!!
And im hoping there's a part in ME3 where Chobot can die....cant wait to make it happen.
Because, wait for it...
... It's optional. Much like ME3's and Ghost Recon's kinect.
oooh...so only mandatory things are considered tacky now? really? REALLY?
Yes, its optional.
And Yes, its tacky. I should know...i had to borrow my friend's Kinect just to get the stupid "drive with Kinect" achievement. Didnt enjoy the experience, didnt feel like it ADDED anything to the game, and never was tempted to try it again. And ive been a Forza fan since Forza 2, and have enjoyed using the differnt Wheels they come out with, so im not against peripherals when done correctly.

but for real, I thought ME3 was getting too gimmicky back when MP was confirmed. Now I'm in the stage of actually having to hope it doesn't disappoint.

No. It isn't tacky because it doesn't detract from your default playing experience.

Um...do you know what the word tacky means? It has nothing to do with "having an effect on player experience."

You mean the actual Merriam-Webster definition? If that's the case, the OP doesn't know what it means when he created this thread.
Or did you mean the countless different UrbanDictionary definitions?
My point: Not everyone has the same thought when it comes to certain words. Tacky is one of them.

I mean the actual definition. It's subjective, but it certainly has nothing to do with how the person/place/thing interacts with the one commenting on it.

well...considering that the base word is "tack" which is usually used in the past tense in the phrase "tacked on" I think it's pretty clear how the word is meant to be interpreted...

Then why are you singling me out for it if the OP is also glaringly misusing it?

You do realize that is the same priority when it comes to an image search of Yvonne or Tricia right? Scantly clad photos? Sexy posing? Hell, Tricia Helfer is pretty much the definition of nerd bait.

Relax, I'm not trying to be mean.
And that wasn't the OP you were talking to, it was someone else. OP is using it correctly (though remember, it's subjective. Just cause you disagree doesn't mean it's being used wrongly).

Well it can be subjective or objective depending on whether what is being critiqued fails a set of technical standards or personal standards.

Chobot doesn't make it tacky? Are you serious? Chobot is nowhere near the league of Keith David, and not even close to the league of Mark Meer or Yvonne Strahovski. She's a games journalist who got the job because she's considered hot.
Keith David is an actor (and a great one at that.)
Mark Meer is a voice actor.
Yvonne Strahovski is an actor.
Chobot is a "journalist."
Which doesn't belong?
Yeah, the skin tight dress, and d ****** are just because she loves ME so much.

The ratio is also a factor. There were a couple preview pics of Tricia Helfer where she looked like she did something other than model in bikinis. Not saying it wasn't there at all, but it wasn't everything.
If that makes any sense. It probably doesn't.
