Well it can be subjective or objective depending on whether what is being critiqued fails a set of technical standards or personal standards.
There really isn't an objective determination of "tacky-"ness.

The ratio is also a factor. There were a couple preview pics of Tricia Helfer where she looked like she did something other than model in bikinis. Not saying it wasn't there at all, but it wasn't everything.
If that makes any sense. It probably doesn't.

No. It isn't tacky because it doesn't detract from your default playing experience.

What saving costs has to do with anything? Let them spend and spend big to make it better. The return should be much more than enough to compensate it. We have a saying here, I don't know how it should translate into English but I am sure there is one similar: "The cheap ends up expensive", like DA2.
You don't save money. You put more and more to make it better and it will sell more and you'll profit more. There are some big names on Skyrim and I don't see anyone saying they shouldn't be there to save money and the game sold pretty well, I'd say.

There are also several images of Chobot sitting around playing video games. I'd argue that there are more provocative Helfer pics than there are Chobot pics.

I think it's annoying that everyone looks at Chobot as "just some hot girl". As far as I can tell from interviews, she seems like she genuinely enjoys video games and knows a thing or two about them, even if she's most famous for her looks. She's not even a major character; she's basically just playing herself, so I don't see what the big deal is at all.

I felt the same about Sasha Grey in SR3. I mean she's a porn star, she's had some acting experience.

Who's talking about the cost? I don't see it in the OP.
Tacky isn't the right word, but completely unnecessary is the right phrase. And I'd hardly call Mark Meer a big name. Bioware could have saved allot of money (and maybe put that money into making the game better) had they not hired, Kieth David, Martin Sheen, Yvonne Strahovsik, Freddie Prince Jr, and Tricia Helfer. I'd imagine Seth Green
and Chobot aren't that expensive. Although I do have a problem with Chobot being in the game it's more of my dislike for the "Us nerds huh?" mentality. It's pretty unfounded, but at least I can indetify it as such. However I'd argue my dislike for her character model is reasonable.

I'm sorry but after seeing Martin Sheen as the TIM absolutely no one else should have been given that part. Seriously, he played it perfectly.

Are you talking about the ones that were posted on the BSN? The ones where she is playing the xbox 360 wearing a white dress with strappy heels on? The one where she is sitting with her legs wide open in what is clearly a photo op? Yeah, I wouldn’t say those are normal photos where she is laid back playing games and chillin’. They were clearly a “See? Gamer girls can be sexy!” posed sort of thing.
