It was the community that's splitting on the subject without playing the game.

Chobot doesn't make it tacky? Are you serious? Chobot is nowhere near the league of Keith David, and not even close to the league of Mark Meer or Yvonne Strahovski. She's a games journalist who got the job because she's considered hot.

Keith David is an actor (and a great one at that.)
Mark Meer is a voice actor.
Yvonne Strahovski is an actor.
Chobot is a "journalist."

Which doesn't belong?

Mark Meer is a voice "actor", anyway.  Part of the reason I can't stand to play as maleshep is how lifeless and uninteresting his work here is.  Maybe he's less awful in other things, but he certainly didn't improve any in ME2 from ME1.

I felt the same about Sasha Grey in SR3. I mean she's a porn star, she's had some acting experience.

LOL, nice.

According to Rolling Stone she was a part of some acting school for 10 years.

So that made you think ME3 was gimmicky?

Except you actually didn't add anything to the discussion, just made an minimally insulting comment. You said nothing about ME gimmickness.

The majority of the non-human voices you hear in ME are done by Meer.  From the Vorcha to Salarians.  Hell, from what everyone is saying, the guy is playing Mordin in ME3 and I can't tell the difference between the voices in ME3 from ME2 based on the footage shown so far.

And Meer improved a lot from ME2 in comparison to ME1, especially in the DLC.  And his voice sounds that much better based on the ME3 footage.

Jennifer Hale 4 life for me tho.

Yeah, she's not what you would've thought when you think of a porn star's background.  Sasha Grey doing porn was like a complete 180 based on her background.

I'll let you know when that makes a difference, and I'll try and run to you when I discover a major plot run out that Obsidian would be known for.

On the contrary, Hale sounds like an overdramatic try-hard soldier with a tendency to over act at any given moment.

So lets keep our opinions about such things to ourselves from this point on, hm?

Keith David is an absolute boss. He also has a voice part in all 3 COD:MW games.

Mark Meer, while not an A-Lister like Tricia Helfer or Jennifer Hale, does a phenomenal job as a VA.

Jennifer Hale is also fantastic as FemShep. I'm not sure if I could see anyone else playing FemShep.

Chobot has no place in ME3. She's moderately hot in real life, but her in game character is not.

Last but not least, BioWare PERFECTLY cast TIM. Martin Sheen is absolutely perfect for that role.

Kinect is making it tacky? How? Forza has kinect, it isn't tacky, Ghost Recon will have kinect, and it isn't tacky either.

The iOS thing? ME2 had another one (IT was garbage), but it existed and it served a purpose. Same thing with the new one.

How does Jessica Chobot make it tacky, but Keith David, Mark Meer, Yvonne Strahovski, or any of the other big names don't?

Not to sound like a ******, but none of the things you mentioned make it tacky.

I thought the most "gimmicky" thing was *Battlestar Galatica" (I assume everybody knows this spoiler now, The Reveal Cast trailer practically slapped it across your face). No purpose, just unnecessary and dare I say it a really poor move.

I think Kinect itself is gimmicky and pointless, but its inclusion is not a surprise. And I can't wait for multiplayer, I seem to be a minority, but I get to play as a drell! Um, Yes please!

If you knew anything about Chobot, her getting the job is more about her being a big fan of Mass Effect more than it is about her looks.

Yeah, is that what they tell you? The gaming media (especially IGN and G4) prey on gamers who think that a hot woman could be one of their own. She got attention because of her mixing sexuality and games.

She got the IGN gig because she modeled with a PSP. Not because she was a legit journalist or anything.

I have nothing against her but it really looks like she was casted for the same reason as Samuel Jackson was casted for the Star Wars prequels, to drawn in a certain demographic, not because they are the best for the roles.

The excuse that she is a huge Mass Effect fan is incredible lame. I'm sure there are much bigger fans out there that also have better acting skills.

The thought might have been that she is a journalist playing a journalist. For now, she gets the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she performs really good? Maybe she was better than many others who tried for the role? No idea, lets see.
