Dear Chris Priestly,

I've seen many of your comments on Mass Effect 3, preaching that it's "damned good",  so I figured I'd ask you a question.

Out of the three Mass Effect games, which has been your favourite, and why?

He does have a point, though. Your question is a little too specific to be posted publicly.

Sorry, do you have any authority on a public forum?

I don't think so, just send him a PM.

Whichever one is poised to come out is always going to be the best in the series according to them. They want to sell this thing. It's not like they're going to say "Definitely ME1, we kinda phoned it in for ME3 but buy it anyway since we need to put food on the table" even if it might be true. Having said that, IMO ME2 was better than ME1, and ME3 looks to have fixed a lot of my complaints about ME2, so I wouldn't be surprised if my opinion of it meshes with their marketing.

Take a guess, what do you think he'll say? A game that came out 4 years ago, or a the game that's coming out in a few weeks?!

Time has nothing to do with quality. Something new isn't always better.

Ok, knock off the fighting.

If you do want to ask an individual a question, staff or anyone, a private message is better than a post on the forums. If for no other reason then you do not get the inane comments from the peanut gallery.

To answer the question, Mass Effect 3. And no, mr Smarty Poster, it isn't because I want to seel copies of the game (I mean, yes I do, but that isn't why I say it), it is because it is, imo, the best of the series. I would rank them ME3, ME 1 and ME2 in order of my prefernce.

ME3 is my favorite as the combat is the best of the series. The dialog, the story, the characters, the emotion, etc are all there like they have been in each previous game, but the combat is better. The evading, the cover mechanics, the melee, etc are all the best so far. I'd also say the cinematics are better. Plus there is the whole culmination of a series aspect. The final chapter in something I have been invested in for years now.

ME1 is my next favorite as it was the kick off to the series. It introduced Shepard, the alien races, many of our favorite charcaters and it set the tone for the series.

ME2 is my least favorite. Not that it isn't good and I do think the combat was better in ME2 than in ME1, but I think the story was too convoluted. Whiel the characters were great, I think we tried to introduce too many all at once. Did you like Jack or Legion or Jacob or Mordin or Smara or etc who lived and died, who romanced or not, etc etc.

So, take that as you will. Am I just a marketing shill who would say ME3 is best because that is the company line? I'd liek to think not, but thats up to you to decide. It is easy for me to say it though, because it happens to be true.
