**Possible spoiler?**
Oh wow, this is frustrating.. lol. I recently responded to someone's topic because they were having the same problem as I was.. That being: After doing the majority of the game and talking to the Arl, when I leave his castle to select my team (from the "new" camp) the game crashes to desktop.
NOW.. My newest problem: I decided to uninstall the game and reinstall it to see if that would possibly help.. but now I can't reinstall the game! At some point or another it stops and says the installation has failed because of a data error and my only option is to click "Finish"..
I made sure everything was deleted properly.. but I did save my savegames in another folder. Any idea why it won't let me install the game again? I made sure to close out of all other applications, etc..
BTW I'm a novice at best when it comes to computers and error logs and all that stuff I've seen in other threads, if you need to know something in particular please let me know how to show you..
This is absurd! I can't even install the game now.

I scowered the internet and it seems I'm not the only one who has had this problem. If I had known I would have never uninstalled the game.. Even if I was crashing at that one point I could have played around on another character or SOMETHING.. This is so irritating. First game I buy in months because I knew it would be good and it seems like everyone is having trouble with it.

That's unfortunate, I'm not sure what the cause could be. Maybe the physical copy is damaged, or there's some kind of DRM or something. I had a similar problem with the DLC, then it kept wanting me to be logged in to play it because every time I started up a new game it had to authenticate it for some reason. It's a slap in the face that we paying customers have to deal with so many issues that pirates don't have to put up with.

The installer is a bit...unhelpful at times.
There is a manual workaround that I used and which has worked for other people which should (hopefully) get past the issues that the two of you are facing:
If you're doing it from the DVD, you'll need to first copy everything onto your hard drive. If you downloaded, you're one step ahead already. In any case, once done, make copies of your textures.rar, core.rar, env.rar and any other .rars containing files that are bugging out.
Then go into the originals and delete every file that's over 150mb or so (and any other files that are causing problems). The installer should then run fine. Once its done, go to the copies of the .rar files and manually extract the files you deleted using 7zip (or any other program that will extract files from .rar even if it detects CRC errors) into your dragon age game folder.
You should be able to get 7zip to use the file structure in the .rar files to put the extracted data in the right place - if not, if you open the .rar file you can see the directories that the files ultimately need to be put into.
Once done, the game should run absolutely fine.
If you need any help with this (or further explanations), drop me a message here - threads drop out of sight quite quickly and I might not see it.

Peter Gozenya, you're my hero!
<3 rdement approves +50 (lol!)
I tried everything everyone else said last night for a total of about 3 hours to no avail. 38 hours in and more or less at the end of the game you can imagine how frustrated I was not being able to install or get past that one point! For some reason or another it even stopped crashing at the point that caused my original problem, so I am totally good to go now because of you. *Crosses fingers* Thanks again, seriously.

I'm going to compile a list of the three or four most common solutions to the install errors and see if we can get them tacked up on one of the sticky threads here.
It still amazes me how random it is which one of them actually works for any given person!

sorry, but i forgot to mention to rename your installshieldold folder back to installshield, once the game has finished installing.
