I'm not kidding, this guy has even improved rather quickly over time. He's got some serious talent and a love for the ME-verse.

And this trailer, though I know it's all somewhat subjective, seems to have the best overall feel and blend to it; it's got plenty of action, just enough exposition, emotional and dramatic moments, excellent editing, intruige and implied mysteries, outstanding music selection/editing, and even subtle things to it that add to the rewatch value.

Please tell me you guys agree...or, if not, why not?

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm NOT the guy who made that trailer and I don't even know the guy's real name (or know all that much about him period, when I think about it). I just think he's that good.

He's talented, I will give him that, but I know someone who's better and she deserves a spot in the marketting department when it comes to her editting prowess. if she gets a job editting for bioware this guys should be right behind her.

Who are you talking about, if you don't mind me asking? I know there ARE other trailer-makers out there who make amazing stuff, but I'm of the belief that getting one of these few hired will make it easier for the other few.

Also, imagine what MikkroBitti could do with access to footage from 90% of the game, raw dialogue audio, and other tools?

he probably means Aislinntrista, (here's one of my favorites by her )

honestly - I have to say I like them both equaly, though Aislin I think adds a little more to her videos.  both have spectacular timing.

It was really great!, but not the best i've seen out there.

Masseffectben's latest Fan made trailer, was better in overall terms in my opionion then this one.

It fits better than any other fan made trailer I've seen, heck, better even than some official trailers I've seen.

Some true, like the squad leader one. But the Special Forces trailer is well above it.

But I would never make a fan clip and credit it to me with some "I proudly present".

That's after all an LP trailer not a game trailer :P

Could you link that?

That was an amazing trailer, by far the best fan-made one I've seen for ME3. And using only the limited footage we've had so far...I am seriously impressed.

Not to mention, you know, having a TEAM of people getting paid to make it.

Companies now have trailer teams? I thought they had cinematic departments, who you know make all the in-game cinematics from scratch.

Say what you will about the launch trailer of ME2 ( the original one. I know the PS3 one is bad ) but that thing is the best made ME2 vid out there.

Sure, it definitely helps to have a strong song, but it's the way the trailer was edited and the mood conveyed that really made it awesome.

A trailer like that generally takes a dozen or so hours to make. I know since I've done quite a few tribute/trailer/music videos myself ( This for instance ). A song is one of the most important aspects when you are making one, since you use the song as the base for the feel of a video and build everything on top of that and most of those hours are spent agonizing over single segment of a video to make sure they fit in perfectly.

I am not saying it's a bad video, it's good, but the creator doesn't deserve that much praise for it as to say be hired by Bioware. Who are a hell lot more talented since they don't have the freedom to pick whatever song they want.

I think you are VASTLY overestimating how much it costs to licence a song... for instance Two Steps From Hell songs only cost $1500 per hundred thousand exsposures so if we take the largest view count from any ME3 vid on their channel (300,000 on their special forces trailer) and even assume they got that number again from other sources (so now 600,000) it would only be $9000 (1500 * (600,000 / 100,000)) which is a drop in the bucket for a triple A game budget.

Bioware don't need to use licensed music, they got Clint Mansell working for them. Clint, if you are not aware of him is easily a top tier composer. His talent is up there with famous people like Williams and Zimmer. Have a listen to this

I am not overestimating anything. The video in this thread used four songs, not one, and there are 10 trailers for the game out already. So let's assume each of them would be made using one, two songs of that quality as in the vid ( assuming EA would even get rights to use movie music in the first place, which is what the creator did ) that would make it to 180.000 for all trailers, just based on the numbers you gave here.

Numbers which I might add can be higher. I hardly consider that a drop in the water for a game that probably has an overall budget of 30 million.

i agree.

i mean it was good, dont get me wrong. did it get me excited? sure, but it did that the first time i saw those scenes or heard those phrases too.

theres one fanmade that features original CGI, along with a good presentation too. i enjoyed that more then cutscenes ive already seen.

Why is it no surprise that both of you are completely at odds at what a "trailer" is supposed to achieve, other than "leaking" certain pictures, scenes or anything else? It's like complaining that a certain painting is merely showing the same old colors that all the other paintings you've seen already.

Yeah, it's that pathetic.

You are assuming that all those numbers would scale like that.... they don't of course. And there's the point that all scores are made in-house (which I think is the best option, since they do have good musicians).

Of course not. Some would be higher, some lower.

As for using game music. Game music is designed for a certain situation or mission in the game. Most of the tracks are just not suited for trailers. Some ( like end run for instance in ME2 ), sure, but not many.Tell me exactly, what do you think allows for more creative freedom? A selection of a few dozen songs or the selection of thousands upon thousands.

I think what really allows creative freedom is to have a professional outstanding musician at your disposal.

Bioware is not limited to a selection. They can make whatever song they want. Mikkro had to make do with what other people had made. I imagine he could make even more spectacular things if he had musicians to custom write music for the feel he was going for.

i think its pathetic you think having a different opinion is pathetic. you cant convince me that trailer is "great" by saying "its hard work to put together cutscenes from traielrs biowares already used, or cutscenes weve already seen.

now im even more unimpressed by it.

Nice try. Your opinion is still pathetic.

You are really astonishingly incapable of comprehending this kind of stuff. It has nothing to do with "hard work". It's a realm beyond your cognitive abilities.

Well, event the most liked/viewed video on YouTube has dislikes too. But some ants deserves more respect than some of our fellow members of the human race. =)

And there are lots of fan made trailers out there but some of the dialogues are from this! (Like I said, I can't make trailers like those but gameplay videos, those I can and did hundreds and guess what, people like them too! Perhaps because I do no voice over at all. I just capture great moments of a playthrough and some like to relive it)

Usually, yes, that's what fan trailers are. This one in particular though has by far superior storytelling to any official trailer we've seen thus far, doesn't spoiling too much of the plot, AND, most importantly, is incredibly compelling.

From a Film Major background standpoint too, the trailer is well cut, the musical scores hit just the right moods, and the audio clips are well-ordered to create an easy-to-follow narrative. I could show this trailer to my grandma and she'd instantly know what the game is about. I can't exactly say the same for the official trailers.

By far the best ME3 trailer yet. I doubt that any official trailer will be on par with this one.

It is also nice to see a trailer without the awkward burning logo at the end (this is of course only my opinion).
