Two answers: Understand how to mute, and understand that undeserving pricks are the minority. No exceptions. No, not even the overrated and overhated COD. You just don't remember the quiet ones.
Besides, this is PvE, and you only need to worry about the GIFT. Oh, and those besodden fools that have got it into their head that multiplayer is less fun. I dunno, maybe they don't want to be in Garrus' position of being constantly overshadowed by another.

(it may be worse for PC gaming, however - I'm not sure.)

All that is true, but I still don't understand why we NEED MP these days. Back in my day, Pong was the awesomest thing ever, and there was no online multiplayer. Best part was, there was no raging, micspamming, or b*tching. There was the occasional cry of WTF every now and then though. And one of the issues is that now the hardcore talinuts are gonna just do nothing for the team while jerking off to the ass of that Lvl2 quarian engineer they created as their avatar. That's what worries me, especially the sh*t that came out after the MP was revealed in detail. Ugh, you shoulda seen some of those posts.

Best option? Play the game with friends, be that IRL or people on your friends list that you trust. Co-op is far more fun when you're sharing it with a pal.

If you're forced to play with random groups, mute anyone who is elitist/trolling/yelling and so on, but don't assume everyone you'll be playing with is a cretin. There are some genuinely nice people out there, but they tend to be the ones who aren't sounding off into their mics.

Well, we don't need it. It's just more fun that way. Besides, when you played in the arcade, those types of person just beat the crap out of you, then when you started fighting back, security conveniently only saw you smacking them up. Online, they can't do that manipulative jazz.

And I am appalled and offended at the suggestion that Talinuts are sex addicted virgins who make do, and not just moe fans.

Well there are several things one can do not have to deal with online BS that plagues XBL. First and for most get a list of friends that you know and want to play with, playing with randoms means you are going to get just that Randoms. Bring your sense of humor because random and funny things can and will happen. If you happen to play a competitive MP game... Mute and itunes are your best friends

1) Go outside and meet real people who fully expect to be punched in the face if they carry on like that.

2) Dont play with anyone you dont know. Stranger Danger and all that.

3) Deal with it.

Take your pick.

BioWare doesn't deal with it, you do.

I have little experience with online gaming. Especially when voice chat is involved.

However I have heard many stories about bullying, trolling and non stop swearing and whining about some players being either playing too well or too poorly.

How will Bioware deal with this?
What lessons can be learnt from Call of Duty, Halo Gears of War, Killzone, Army of Two, Battlefield and other online shooters in terms of tackling online bullying?
Will Mass Effect 3 have it's own moderation system in addition to those implemented by XBox Live, PSN and the PC?
Will Bioware and EA along with other organisations be working together on this issue?
What can gamers like us do to reduce trolling on voice chat?

Whining, screaming, swearing and yelling in online gaming can be easily fixed by muting the offensive players, or, if it gets pervasive, muting everyone automatically. The only things that I'd worry about are griefing and AFKing, which no one can effectively do anything about and which I expect will likely be problems in ME3 (although, if players cannot damage each other, that would help immensely).

"we" don't need it but EA/BW want more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, its called being greedy, trying to milk as much money as possible through DLC

EA sees the $$$$$ Activision makes from CoD, has an orgasm and decides to implement it to get more $$$$$

Quarian females played by 13 year old boys. Watch them surround the Banshee and spam forward-reverse.

I'm gonna mute anybody I don't know when I log in a game. I don't care who they are. It worked for TF2, and it will work here.

My only multiplayer free-for-all's when Xbox is concerned have been TF2 and BF3. What do I do? The moment I got my Xbox, I made sure to turn off communications for everyone except my friends. Solved.

Oh no, companies want MONEY? Those greedy bastards! Next thing you know, they'll want to make enough money to pay their own employees!

I think they will be implementing a simple Mute, kick, ban interface for the host and clients, clients mots likely getting the mute only, maybe votekick, who knows, never played a bioware multiplayer before so i cant say for sure. But this has been the trend in multiplayer games for almost a decade now.

Don't need to worry about me. I have no mic. The only thing you'd hear me say anyway? "Aww hell, why did you charge the fully-shielded Atlas?"

I've got no mic and I don't intend to buy one just because of one game (my MP days are long gone, opening up an exception because it's ME and it's not pvp), so I hope we get keyboard chat support.

I laugh my ass off every time some annoying german 12yo is yelling in the mic. And if they're yelling in their native language, it being french, german, italian, whatever, I yell back with random words from those languages. Fun as hell in TF2 anyhow.

Join a multiplayer group of people here or on other places. Only play with friends. There's ways to get around playing with the mindless idiots online.

Very good advice.:wizard:

I guess now would be a great time to build an army of BSN users to save the Galaxy:wizard:

Make friends with members of your respective console group, get involved in discussions and find ways to unleash havok on the enemy!

This way we can use voice chat tactically without worrying about trolls. Right?

Still spouting the same rhetoric I see. Well done.
