I want to thank you Stan for so thoroughly attending to this topic. This DLC business is the only concern I have about ME3, and I hope your right that the main game doesn't suffer from missing some of it.

Yeah I'm getting pretty sick of this stuff too. I've heard that a certain squadmate can only be gotten if you get the N7 edition.... If this is true and if said NPC is who I think it is I will be very upset.

To leave such an important character out of the game and leave the rest of us with no way to get him/her is a very disapointing move.

If this is true then shame Bioware.... shame

A DLC character has been advertised as being included with the Collector's edition, but Bioware may end up announcing that it comes with all new copies. Just like their previous games. Only time will tell.

They've already said and it's been repeated many times, the DLC character included with the CE will be purchaseable for non CE people.

the dlc is fine but i will say the the pre order marketing is a bit out of control imo. so i dont know who to question about that honestly.

i mean a 30 dollar art book ( wich is cool dont get me wrong) but just for a gun dlc is a bit much now if it was like story dlc worth 10 15 bucks than i can see myself buying it for that reason.

and this isnt really a complaint but more of a wtf is going on regarding the pre order 10 dollar dlc.

now im knock knocking the devs and hell i respect what they gave us for a franchise but my question to them is wouldnt it be easier to just put the best buy, gamestop weapons into a package on xbl and psn?

it be easier not just for the fans but the devs themselves

By the way, the DLC character for ME3 isn't important to the plot at all.

LOLno. I'd heavilly bet that it will cost 400-800 MS points. Equalivalent to $5-10.

He is basically saying that you used to get one whole game and two big expansion packs that are completely new and different; now you only get bits and pieces of the whole game in replacement of the two expansion packs.

Honestly, I think people should listen to Stanley. It isn't like you have to pay $10 so you get the last mission, you're getting a piece of armor and a gun or (in ME2) Zaeed and one mission. Zaeed did not matter at all; not having him took nothing away except the opportunity to have Zaeed. It is NOT part of the base game, it is merely an addition to it and is not needed for the base game to function.

I'd say if you bought arrival you did pay $10 to get the last mission.

DLCs peeve me off more than anything now. I remember buying Expansion packs for sims 2 and not feeling jipped. Now they make you pay 5-10 bucks for some digital gun. Or take out a part of the original game and sell it to us. Like they did with Zaeed in ME2 (yes he was suppose to be in the original game -,-)

I hate it when people fail to see the silver lining here:

Yes, day 1 dlc is a jerk move, but development dlc is healthy for a franchise/company. Look at DA2, while quite a few aspects of the game came off as mediocre to many, they tested the waters based on community feedback with their story-driven dlc instalments. Legacy and Mark/Assassin were steps in the right direction in order to help grow a product.

Obviously, If the devs just took all future dlc as cut content from the game and released it at period intervals, they would learn nothing and the sales/attantion towards the game would show. Bioware learns from its fan base. And if you want it to grow better, small dlc's are the way to go (they can test new improvements one (or a couple) at a time). Whereas if they had done it all in one huge dlc, they might not get clear feedback on every improvement.

Also, I will support Bioware with my money (via dlc purchases and subscriptions for SWTOR) and leave feedback on the forums here so they have more resources to grow with.

So, yeah, you may feel you are being gypped with the obsessive amount of dlc, but think about what good it could do the company.

Arg out.

Edit: also, you want to know REAL rip-offs? Go check out Dragon Age Legends and see how much they are charging for a high level weapon/armour. they can get up to $40 for a social game. Never bought anything from it, but it's there, and peope have bought things form it.  I love DAL to bits, but the store is a bit broken. WHICH, because community feedback, they will be overhauling and improving for their next BIoware social game. I've made my point.

At this moment in time my only complain about ME3 DLC is that it is added to EVERYTHING that has an N7 logo on it.
Honestly, it's getting out of hand. I'm only interested on the DLC, not the action figures, not the Apple products (I don't even have any iPhone/Pad), not the console cases, not even where I pre-order my Collector's Edition (especially because the N7 Warfare DLC isn't avaiable at ANY store in my country).
I just want the option to be able to buy the bloody DLC, and the DLC alone.
Is it too much to ask for the option to buy this DLC separate from the the far too vast myriad of products you're attaching them to?
To me, it feels like someone's saying "You want this gun? Buy this product!", instead of "Buy this product and receive a free code for that DLC gun that costs 2$ in our store!", and to me that's wrong - I want to enjoy all you've developed for ME3, but that's it - I have no iPhone/iPad, I have no interest in action figures and I have no interest in console cases, only in the game and content FOR the game...

I'm not arguing one way or the other. If that is the case, and I get it with my CE, then I guess that doesn't really bother me.

Did you pay for Zaeed? I did not. He came with my game. For free.

Good Stuff

And I understand that and agree. But as someone who enjoys the option of choice/making me think I have a choice it's frustrating when that choice is taken away in the form of pay extra money or get filled in later without a say in the matter.

I guess part of the problem with many gamers, and people in general, is that we feel that if we pay for something and something comes along later that makes said product better we feel entitled to it. Mainly because we've shelled out money already so why should we pay more. Just a random thought.

I'd love to see the demise of dlc as long as the return of the expansion pack follows it.

The last mission, no; an extension piece that leads the story into ME3, yes.

I have checked. The best that character can contribute with is being another guy one put on special assignment.

His own story is very interesting, but, again, it does nothing to advance the plot.

Edit: Because if he was integral to the plot, then he wouldn't be a DLC character.

No, you're buying a $30 artbook that just happens to come with an extra gun for the game. If you spend $30 to buy an extra gun and ignore the artbook, that's your fault.

Why does Stanley Woo only appear in threads to defend EA's vile and disgusting abuse of DLC and their consumers?

I can't remember any bonus DLCs handed out by stores for Skyrim. Or is my memory bad? Yet, it sold a silly amount of copies. So, I don't think a good game needs them to be successful. BW believes it sells more of their products, but there is no indication that it is actually beneficial to the sales. I rather have that content available to all as a regular part of the product.

He isn't defending EA, he is explaining why developers in-general (not just EA and not just BioWare) make Day-1 DLC and why they do not put it into the main game.

Perhaps to try and combat some of the FUD that people seem to want to spread about DLC.
