Human seat on the council?

I suspect to put Udina on the council (as much as i loath him), because If anderson is left unrestricted by the bureaucracy he will probably have more time for interactions with Shep in ME3.
But I'm also thinking it'd be a good idea to have such a close friend on the Council.
My main dilemma is that I really despise Udina and want the best for Anderson, but also want him to play an integral role in ME3.
Also; Am I correct in saying that who you pick at the end of the first doesn't matter. As when you are in the shuttle with Miranda and Jacob in ME2 you get to choose again anyway?

I wouldn't worry too much about which Councilor you elect, but if the Council survives or if it is replaced.

You enjoy turning Anderson into an alcoholic? How cruel.

If he hated it that much he would have turned down the position to Udina... He's just finding excuses to hit the bottle

Yeah, I got it with a living council and Anderson.

With Anderson Shepard knows he has someone on the Council that has his back, and is willing to trust Shepard when it comes to the Reapers. Udina on the other hand is willing to throw Shepard under the bus if he thinks Shepard's actions hurt humanity's public image (sparing the Rachni, nuking Virmire, ect), and he thinks Shepard is out of his mind when he claims the Reapers, rather than the Geth, are the real threat.

Do you mean in ME2 or are you referring to the ME3 leaks? Cause in ME2 you don't have to have killed the council to get your spectre status reinstated.

In Retribution Anderson steps down from either the actual Councilor position or the Aide position, it's unclear which - making Udina the Councilor in ME3 no matter what.
No, not unclear. The book explicitly states that Udina is Councilor, and Anderson was working as a diplomat subordinate to him before he quit.

People who say it doesn't matter don't know what they're talking about. So what if he gets to position regardless by the time ME3 starts, you didn't promote him and during ME2 he's a lowly ****ing desk clerk where he belongs. And if I have anything to say about it in ME3 he won't hold power for very long. As far as I'm concerned we can blast him out of a cannon at a reaper during the final battle, make his life worth at least a little bit.

okay, I will elect Anderson. Done deal, if he steps down in events between games anyway, then he deserves the time he gets.
btw.. Thanks everyone!
It's too late but, Spectre status doesn't matter in ME3, you're working with the Alliance. There's a line of dialog that changes, and it's Shepard sucking up to the council. "I'm a Spectre, it's my job."
I really wish there was a no gods no masters playthrough for ME3. But that's too much choice for bioware.

Go with Udina. He's a huge dick, and they want you to dislike him. But he gets things done.
Well, they REALLY want you to dislike him in ME3.

I'm sorry that I ruined the entirty of ME3 for you by saying a six word sentence and stating the obvious.

Exactly why I said unnecessary. The fact that it's a small detail doesn't make it any less annoying, and one could easily argue that it had the potential to be a significant part of the plot, and that the confirmation that it doesn't is a rather significant spoiler.
Of course, this type of thing has become only too common.
