Why does everyone seem to think all batarians hate other races? >_>

I'm quite sure Aria's henchmen and the Blue Suns disagree. Maybe Zaeed takes back control of the Suns and accept batarians and works with Shep to get them to help persuade their fellow batarians to help the galactic cause.

Because there's not one example shown to the player otherwise.

Also, Zaeed objected to Vido's hiring of batarians before he did his little coup. Safe bet would be Zaeed kicks batarians out if he regains control of the 'suns.

Why wouldn't you want the batarians on your side? "Batarians, take the front. Everyone else behind them."

What about the Batarians on Omega that you helped, would that mean anything to the batarian species as a whole?

By "Batarians" you're actually refering to the singular one that you helped? The one you had to jump through hoops to convince to let you help him?

Yeah...if it's a pain in the ass to "help" just one, I don't even want to know the hell you'd have to go through to win over an entire population of them.<_<

Maybe. But Arrival does set things back a little and they may change their views of you after killing 300k batarians a terrorist act against the Batarian Hegemony. I think to gain the support of the batarians Shepard needs to risk his life to rescue a key official or something important stuck on Khar'Shan or another fallen batarian world to gain the batarians' trust and support.

Or, y'know...just not bother with it and let them suck it up and come ask for help.

You also spared a group of batarian mercs in exchange for the Mordin's assistant if you were paragon, and cured any surviving batarians when the plague was stopped by Shepard.

Didn't the Reapers come into Batarian territory first? I don't know that they can give support at all if they did. I imagine that either their armies and fleets are very busy or they have already been wiped out. I would like Batarian support but I don't think that will be possible if the Reapers have gone through their territory. Now a Batarian squadmate that's another story.

If the "Oink"tarians aren't wiped out by the Reapers, my War Hero Shep will have no problem doing a little cleansing. After the Skyllian Blitz, they have it coming. When the Reapers are gone, the last sight they will see is the Alliance "rescue" Fleet coming to their aid. I have a feeling that "they arrived to late to save them" though.

Why should they trust someone that killed 300k batarians? Beside what's left of their forces will be protecting what worlds they have left or trying desperately to think of a way to defeat the Reapers or to retake their worlds. They will, like all races, focus on their own defense and concerns then help another. Shepard risking his life for the batarians gains their trust whether or not Shepard uses them as an ally or finds a clever way to kill them, likely the use of the Reapers to suit your own benefits, that will lead them extinction is your choice.

To be honest did anyone care that it was Batarians in the arrival DLC? Any other race I'd have felt severe guilt. However wiping out a planet full of slavers, mercs and anti-human extremists was just the icing on the saving the galaxy cake. At least I got to grant a painless mercy kill to the slaves undoubtedly being worked to death on the planet. Win them back? Nah. I'm hoping they join the reapers to keep my Paragon Shep's conscience clear when he finishes the job.

If anything, the Hegemony should be thanking Shepard! The Alpha relay explosion gave the 300,000 colonists an instantaneous death, compared to the horrible process of being reaped, indoctrinated, and huskified.

As for the topic, by the time Shepard gets around to recruiting the galaxy, the Batarians will be in the same situation as the Drell. 80% or more of their species are dead, making them useful only in small ground-support scenarios. (such as drell in co-op)

This thread should've ended after the first reply adequately shed light on the issue....Shep will finish what he started in Arrival....Balak's threats shall not be forgotten or taken lightly, the Batarians will end just like Balak did.

Yeah the batarians are going to be weak and very much devastated by the Reapers. If they have the ability to unite the Terminus races together against the Reapers their strength would increase considerably if they could do that though.

Why should we trust them? An entire society built upon forced slavery, with a governement hell bent for leather on funding terrorists to **** with anything remotely not Batarian who, when mommy and daddy citidel council said "no" to, went kicking and screaming into a self induced exile.

I can't care about the Batarians, because BioWare hasn't written a single reason into the series to make me care.

Well if Bioware uses my opinion you can make the batarians become extinct because of your direct actions removing them as a threat to humanity. But I will use the batarians for my own benefits plus it would be an interesting sight to see batarians fight to save Earth.

TBH, Batarians are likely the only non-council race I probably won't have anything to do with...if there's enough of them left after the Reapers swoop in and turn them all into husks.

I'll most likely try and rely on the Quarians, Geth, Rachnai and Krogan as much as possible. Thats not to say the council races will go ignored, I just prefer the underdogs the council has shat on for too long (excluding the geth ofc).

I got to wonder about the shortsightedness of some people here again, judging an entire race because of some individuals you have met and throwing in genocide again and again as punishment. You judge entire nations of people like this in real life too? Because if you do, i really feel sorry for you...

Batarians of Omega are the key and maybe some kind of war respect like the krogan.Gain the respect of balak and the loyalty of the batarians of omega and the hegemony is yours!

Well if the hegemony got wiped out by the reapers, that might be a good chance for the remaining batarians to have a fresh start at rebuilding their society, you know, without all the piracy and slavery.
