Exactly. If there's any way to sacrifice a single species to decrease the damage on the rest of the galaxy, I'll happily make the batarians disappear.

Enlightened self interest tends to over rule other concerns.

As for the colonists in arrival I figured they would have been consumed or destroyed by the reapers shortly after they came trough the mass relay. Their death by the explosion of the mass relay was quick in comparison.

But that's because everyone thought that the Rachni were violent, monstrous beings that can't be reasoned with...

well My Shepard killed them as well . to save humanity my shepard will do anything it takes and I am not sorry about killing 300.000 alien scum but the poor alliance does.

If it was the batarian government then I wouldn't have cared either but those were civilians so it's different. Maybe not for you, but it's the Batarian Hegemony's fault for the terrorist attacks, slaver attacks, and piracy against human colonies because they loaded their people with propaganda. That propaganda promoted their people to join such groups to attack human colonies. Basically, the government played their citizens, like fools, and used them so the Batarian Hegemony could gain their revenge against humanity without directly involving themselves.

This. People seems to forget that batarians never bothered to know about human kindness and nobility because of their government. Or have you all forgotten the Batarian NPCs in Mordin's recruitment mission? How they were surprised how Shepard give a damn to help the sick and keeps promises?

...Of course, any attempt of negotiations with them is probably thrown out of the window because of the actions in Arrival.

Can't say I'd care much for them. Bring down the sky, Javelin launch and so on... psh.

I may just break being a paragon to let these things die. More so because any survivors are probably likely to be indoctrinated anyway.

Anyone talked to Talitha lately? Yeah, that's why I feel not so bad about the plight of the Batarians. Those ugly things we keep seeing in the invasion footage? Those are Batarians I'm sure. The Reapers went through them to get to Earth. That being said, there are Batarians spread out throughout the galaxy. The species doesn't need to go extinct, but if they are to survive, they need for the other races to win, and they'll need to make their post-Reaper culture into one that works well with others.

wouldn't the Batarians work with the Reapers?. . .I'd rather ally with the Vorcha than Batarians(they remind me of the Romulans.) I saved that Batarian during Mordin's mission in ME2 (he was really nice after that) but I'd hate to work with their government.

You'd be surprised at how many worst of the worst were used in WW2 to win the war, and I aint talking about the Germans. , what?, you think the french underground were heroic do gooders?

Far from it.

What I find amusing is the majority of this topic willing to let the Batarians die, when they've never seen Batarian worlds, or don't seem to remember the history of the human race practically being the same.
