Has anyone in the community been in contact with Maximus over the lack of updates on the Vault or should I start packing ammo and making baracades for the zombie apocalypse?

Why would you be afraid of that, we're all undead anyway.

Also, has anyone tried to upload any content. I have been checking and no new content has been posted since BTP left. At first I thought it was just coincidence but it has been almost 10 days now, so I'm starting to wonder. I need somewhere to post my new 15 hour campaign here pretty soon.

I'm pretty sure Dropbox is about to become the new vault.

Been waiting on a password reset for a long while here, no word....

Really hope the radio silence isn't an indication of where things are going... I don't want my favorite game to die :(

I wonder if the NWN 2 filefront page is still up... if it is, perhaps that would be a good place to shift things to in the event of a dead Vault?

I had that problem, but it seems that the Vault emailing system doesn't work. Try a direct email... if you can get the address.

Tried that too... the last time I did it, it took weeks for a response to come through (to be fair, it was around Christmas season, so the folks there likely had better things to do than reset some random persons password :P ).

What I don't understand is why the Vault keeps randomly changing my password >_< . The fact that it takes forever to get any help with that is salt in the wound. Does anyone else have this reset issue, or is it just me?

why so upset? just create a project page and host your files at the dozens up webhosters. post the links within your project here and dunniteowl stickies a thread with all the different projects.

The vault is a great organizing force for all the NWN2 content. God help us if we have to search through dozens of individual project pages to find what we are looking for. Playable mods are one thing but finding obscure content to help builders could become very difficult.

In the unlikely event that the vault stops, we would do well to come up with an alternative.

perhaps a toolset/modding section at the nwn2 wiki is suitable? we could create a wiki project here and discuss our ideas. at the wiki we could link tutorials, plugins, mods and so forth. it's not a perfect solution but imo the best alternative without to create something like a new vault from scratch.

Nexus?

Taurus: Yes, me. I'll send you a PM.

the nexus only supports what they want and what produces a high click rate, right?
i doubt that they would create something for nwn2.

No idea about how that works, I just know that it exists.

The project pages here are far from perfect but they do offer a central storage place. We already have links stickies and things so I'm sure we could figure something out.

Actually, that would ensure that everything was constantly up-to-date. It's not like I use all my Dropbox space anyway.

EDIT: Someone should probably drop Maximus a line, though.

The bigger, more pressing issue is what if the vault shuts down...all content gone.  You think the disappearance of the old forums was inconvient...

I'm emailing Maximus...

I'm not sure what would happen if the vault shut down. Pretty much the end of the universe, really.

I think this would be a good thing.  Of course I want to add that I believe much of this discussion is hypothetical as I think that vault will be fine and this is just a little hiccup.

I hope that M.R. is right, the vault is very important to this community.

Thus I hope this is a hypothetical post. However perhaps the best way to keep the vault is to chip in to the running of that if that is possible rather than hosting elsewhere.

Maybe *everybody* should send the vault an E-mail. You, me and anybody else that gives a damn this could help emphasize its importance and kick start the site back up or maybe block any plans to shut it down.
If the vault shuts down… I’ll… I’ll… I’ll cry! (Sniff)

Come on people let’s not give up to too easily.

I was thinking the same thing Pj, unfortunately I would not have a clue on how to run something like that. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be willing to learn.

Just a heads up to people, we thought the old forums going down was a temp thing too...and I bet a bunch of people who used MegaUpload to host stuff thought that as well.

Internet file storage is not forever...I'm just curious if anyone here has a backup plan...

Be good if someone with enough storage did a back up plan, get all of nwn1 and nwn2 so it's preserved at least. They managed to scrape the NWN1 forums, but not those of NWN2.

If it's somewhere, we can rebuild it then.

I'd like to schedule a formal discussion of the Backup Vault Plan sometime in the next week to ten days. Preferably on IRC. I recall we batted around some ideas about two years ago on this very idea, as the conversation drifted to that inevitable day when the Zombie Apocalypse actually rains down upon us in the form of a radioactive satellite that collides with a Spelljammer Nautiloid in our Crystal Sphere.

I'm open to suggestions for times and dates: Please PM me those and let's carry this part backchannel until we can agree on a time/date for a formal discussion.
[flaps off to do something else]

My login went belly-up about a week ago. The 'reset password' option failed to send me an email, so I sent an email to Maximus using the following submission form:

http://nwvault.ign.c...teinfo/mail.php

I'm assuming that web form is working though. I haven't heard back yet, but I suspect there are several such emails from other users to respond to.

No, that doesn't work correctly, that's what I meant. Send him an email directly, not through the Vault. IIRC, the addresses are something like: username@vaultnetwork.com.
