The CSL stands for "Community Scripting Library" which has doxygen on my server. It is my attempt to provide a standard library for scripters which lets them spend more time creating actual features.

http://70.179.46.242.../csl/index.html

It's just served out of my house so the IP changes every so often. It includes all the core game functions with reference, plus a rewritten scripting library which sidesteps almost all the stock code of the game, and is better organized. I call it community because it uses code from a lot of different community leading scripters, PW's and the stock game, but i've rewritten everything so it is optimized and fits into an overall system.

Basically I don't have a web site to host it on. I was actually thinking i'd upload the "core" library alone ( not including any of the implementation scripts like my redone AI, rebuilt spell spell and feat scripts. ) to the nexus initially.

Right now i have it set up so i can just put the code on the server and it will regenerate the html doxygen reference for me.

Citadel is a forum that died due to funding shortages, we still have ALL the posts on that forum and hope to put it up somewhere. I was actually discussing just getting the raw data so i could repost it in an organized manner inside my doxygen reference.

Actually, I don't really know. Pain would be able to to tell you the specifics. I only got to see the CSL brifely before the Citadel went off-line.

Ahhhh...  ninja'd by pain!!!!

This is amazing, less than a month after MokahTGS started the thread and 2 weeks after DarkOne- joined it. I wish my government could work that fast (or at all). Thank you, DarkOne-, you won't regret it.

IWD NWN2 official release is scheduled for March 9th (tomorrow) so I'll make sure and upload it to The Nexus. Plus, my other three modules that were part of The Chronicles of Charnia series.
Thanks again for all your work on this!

Excuse my noobness.

Is it a reference site, like a type of wiki/library for scripters, or is it something that scripters connect to, or get their modules to connect to in order to gain functionality?

Do you just need hosting space, or do you need SSH access?

I think the CSL offers a great example of what this effort should be about. Pain has solved so many issues, built so many systems, and really integrated things in such a great way that people looking for script solutions should absolutely check the CSL first.

The main thing I feel is holding the CSL back is that not enough people know what it does in detail, or even know about it at all. On one level, this is a publicity challenge--which could be overcome at the Nexus. On another level, this is about making complex information simple. While Pain has done a great job integrating the Doxygen documentation, it's still challenging for someone to know what files they need if they want to accomplish a certain goal.

If the Nexus has download pages that can be easily updated (because Pain is always improving this), has space for someone (Pain or someone working with him) to write a usage guide, and has forum discussions about the project all in one place, this alone could transform the way NWN2 is played and built.

Now imagine the same thing for Pain's NeverLauncher. Now imagine the same thing for Skywing's Client Extender.

These are all things that will benefit from greater exposure, understanding, and feedback!

As a last-minute suggestion, what about having the NWN1 section include a "user interface" category as NWN2 has? I think the UI mods, like Amethyst Dragon's great ones, are currently relegated to either the "NWN - Other" or "NWN - Misc" on the Vault.

And I'm glad to hear this great news! I'll get to work on writing a readme and packaging what I have for the opening.

Alrighty then, the site is now 99% operational. The only things missing are file tags which I'll wait for some confirmation from you guys on a tag list.

For all intents and purposes the site is finished, or at least, all the functionality will work. If you were planning on uploading your files to the site then you could do so now. Indeed, it would be great if you could do that so I can announce the site within the next 24 - 48 hours and for there to be 20+ files already on the site for people to download (and see the site is being used).

Feel free to bring up other technicalities as well.

HOLY HELL THAT WAS FAST!  I am so blown away!  Or perhaps relying on BioWare and Obsidian for updates has made me accustom to waiting.  Sounds like I have a ton of emails to send out (I had barly even started my list), I't gonna be a busy night.

Thank you so much Robin for doing this, it means so much to modders and players alike.

And your solution to being splintered is to move to yet a 3rd forum so even more people get lost in transition?

That is so true, yet so untrue.  True for modders, untrue for players.  Sure alot of modders will probably take some time to migrate over and might get a bit splintered, but for players, it's much easier if all the mods are in one place.  There is a Nexus for most major RPGs that have a toolset, much more convinent for player if they can get all their mods from one place.

When I'm going to do something, I do it!

Most people seem to forget that when Dragon Age came out there wasn't a Nexus site for a good 40 days or so. I gave BioWare time to sort the Social Network out and iron out any bugs. Things like mixing WIP "I'm going to make da Lord of the Rings, derp" mods with actual, downloadable mods, and a proper forum search, all needed to be fixed. How you can release a forum without a search function is utterly beyond me. After 40 days of not seeing any improvements I thought enough was enough, said "they've had their chance", and released a Nexus site for it. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I've been told that BioWare see the Nexus as "competition" by "people in the know", which is sad, because if the DA modding community had to be centralised on the Social site alone I think it would have choked it horribly. And then when they didn't release any tools for DA2, well...enough said.

Please don't see this as blowing my own trumpet, because it's not. If you setup a simple phpBB, Invision Board or vBulletin board with a download plugin you'll have something with more features and functionality than the Social Network.

I was just disappointed that BioWare, a company I respected a lot, released something so...truthfully...crap.

I don't tend to sit on my hands. So if we're going to do it, lets DO IT! :D

How would you go about loading up new content on the NWN-Nexus site?
E....

,,,, nevermind, found it... need more coffee, obviously.

There is no Tutorial section to upload to. Can that be added?

I couldn't agree more, I think the projects pages here are utterly useless. I gave up looking for anything fast and ran over to your place, which was my first real usage of the Nexus. Then came Fallout etc.

Anyway, I uploaded a mini-file and saw that tagging didn't work, I assume it's still WIP? Also, no armor/clothing category, am I right? I used "models" for now I think.

Tagging is offline until I can get a general consensus on a list of tags that should be used. Some people have already provided a good list (thanks!) but I'll wait until everyone's had a chance to chime in before I add them all.

Same applies to any new category suggestions. I just used the ones provided already in this thread.

Ah, okay, um... I still have to look through all the categories (we can move files from one to the other, no?), but I'd suggest armor and clothing as subs for the models category too.
I'd probably suggest more, but kinda distracted right now by other things. :)

Kewl, Sounds Good DarkOne-.
I have a tutorial on L3DT/YATT terrain building that I host it externally, as with the heightmaps that go with it. I would only need to show the links, this should reduce the upload space.
I will be looking into creating some terrains later for builders. But for now, just links.

I've started another thread in the modules forum to discuss module tags. (This thread is getting a bit too hot and heavy for that kind of meticulous discussion).  Please stop by and post your ideas.

Yes.  Under "Manage your files" just change the category for that file in the dropdown box.

Need to look at including PW information as well. Not sure how that would fit in. Basically include this information -> http://social.biowar...1/index/3122535

I assume we have to wait for tonight and until the americans start uploading before we see a noticable increase in uploads... also, someone might want to poke the NWN1 folks again (not me this time please!) :)

Also, you can use BBcode in your file descriptions, so those links can be made clickable, and you can make bulleted lists.

Okay, Casa, I posted a thread in the NWN General Discussion forum about it.
