So much for the Novaultalypse - I just made two new submissions to the Models section and they were finalised within a couple of hours. Fastest turnaround ever.

Eastern Time is UTC - 5 hours so anyone in Europe had trouble - 9pm Eastern is, as Arkalzeth said, 2 AM, GMT.

Anyway, it looks like things are back up and running - probably just a change-over hiccup. Maximus probably got a shock to hear we were all panicking 'cos he didn't do anything with the site right away.

And lo and behold, tintable pigs! Just what I wanted!

Just saw this, the apocalypse almost came and went without me noticing. I was unable to make the chat but once a link to the chat log is up I will take a look.

No worries. In every life a little idiocy occurs. Mine was this weekend. First I forgot to post the time, though shared that in PM with M. Rieder. Then, on Sunday, the day in question, I was very out of sorts the whole day and completely forgot about my own scheduled meeting! Gaak!

My apologies to all and my happiness that the Vault didn't implode. Still, I think a back up plan is something we should have prepared for that inevitable day. I plan on having this meeting Next Sunday, the 19th of February. I am open to a time frame that accomodates the majority. We just have to have it "set in wood" by this Thursday. I am pretty much good any time of the day, except right in the middle of it 10am-2pm. Other than that, I'm pretty wide open.

Happens to the best of us, and while I'm glad to hear about the vault I agree that alternatives should be discussed.  As far as times go next Sunday works for me, and since we have members in USA East, US West, and European time zones, I think 5:00 PM EST whould be a good time.

Sure - just ignore us in the southern hemisphere then. We're used to it.

What's the time zone there, +12 or so? And for DNO, -7?

About the meeting this Sunday, maybe I can't if it's not too late, but probably won't be able to confirm it until Sunday itself. So talk it with other people, if I finally can, I'll go in.

LA is six hours in the future - yesterday in East Coast Australia
NY is nine hours in the future yesterday

I think that works out to 2 am sunday night (monday morning)

So... when then? If it's gonna be tomorrow, we should be deciding an hour.

PS, off-topic: Has it been any word saying if the forums are going to stay as they are now, without the avatars showing?

How 5 PM EST sound (-5 UTC)? That's 10PM GMT and 2PM PST (apologies to those living in Asia or western Europe), but I think that should work for most people here.

That hour is ok for me today, but I don't know if it'll be finally done, as no confirmation was posted. Anyway, if it's finally done, I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute, but I'll try to be around.

That sounds like a reasonable time.  I'll try to pop in as best I can.  My time will be limited as 5pm is prime kid-wrangling hours and I will have my hands full.

So a few of us did meet up on IRC earlier tonight and talked about possibilities for alternate content hosts. There are a few issues both legal and practical surrounding the transfer of content from the vault, but without an alternate host all of the content will be lost if IGN ever decides to discontinue hosting.  I've contacted Robin Scott, the owner of the Nexus site about the possibility of hosting NWN2 content on Nexus. The other possibility brought up was achive.org, but as the name would suggest they would only provide achieving and not hosting.

Either way the first step whould be get an alternate host then worry about tranfearing content.  I'll keep posting updates on Nexus as they come.

I'm very much interested in seeing what can be done. I'll be keeping an eye on this as well.
A few ppl I know use imhosted, but I'm not sure if that would be good enough.

Just got an email from Robin Scott.

"Thanks for getting in contact. I would be more than happy to provide a place for NWN users to host their modifications on a NWN Nexus site, however such a move is a big undertaking and I wouldn't want to create a site no one would use."

So for the record Nexus is willing to host NWN content, but we'll need support from the community. I need to know who else would support a NWN section on the Nexus, who would upload content, and who be willing to help get it running.

I would upload all of my content as well as anything else I can steel and claim as my own from RWS.

I have a few tutorials I would upload, as well as some terrain prefabs that I have in the vault I would still like to make available to ppl. I think that one of the key points for me is not so much the storage space, which can always be worked around with third party accounts and an updated link, but rather the fact of having one centralized and communal space where one can find materials, tutorials and read comments.

Should we just worry about out own content or other worthy content as well?

I'd absolutely support the Nexus and upload what little I made. I also see a big chance there to get more people interested in modding for NWN2 again (or at least it's a hope I have).

Edit: Has this also been discussed in the NWN1 section already?

Good to hear... well, read. As I said the other day in the chat, I'm a parasite with no content of my own, so, unless Mokah steals something for me, I don't have much to contribute with. I'd still support the Nexus, if only morally.

I could be wrong, but I don't think most of the regulars here would have a problem uploading their stuff to a second place, specially to an important site as is the Nexus. It's not like what happened with gmod, that posted modules without asking the authors.

And yeah, this should be mentioned in the NWN1 forums. Judging by what Shaun posted, I'm not sure if the Nexus guy is speaking about both NWN. Did you specifically mention NWN2? I'm guessing both games could be supported, as both Oblivion and Skyrim have their own section at the site.

I am willing to be part of this. What happens though if the vault stays active as I hope it will.

Nexus will surely want to have clicks to justify the space they allocate to us and the clicks will be on the vault.
