I think we all realise that it was the companions that made the story in DA:O and they will be as important in a possible sequel.
The companions I expect / want are:

- The old ones, not sure how they can put them all in. But I would prefer if they were in, one way or the other.

- I want an Orlesian chevalier.
- A Tevinter mage, preferably a blood mage.
- A dalish elf or something like that. Who hates humans alot.
- A girl like Isabella, or why not her?
- This may sound farfecthed, but a demon would be nice. A desire demon of course Image IPB
The reason I want this is because they seem to genuinely want to see the world as we do. It would be interesting to see their perspective better.
- A hardcore Grey Warden who doesn't give a **** about anything except defeating the blight.

And last, but certainly not least....a Griffon!
That would be much better than dog. I assume that the relationship between a greay Warden and a griffon can be as deep as a mabari dog and his master, if not more so. Yes I know it might be ddifficult, lore wise and gameplay wise, but that would be freaking awesome.

Another thing I think is imperative is maintaining order in your party. DA:O did a good job with the opinion thing. But a good leader is not only concerned with making his party members like and obey him. He is also worried about the unity and cohesion of the group. That's why I want very contrasting characters. Having a templar and a blood mage in the same party can be very interesting to manage. Or a mage and a demon. If you turn out to be a bad leader, or if you simply choose some over others, then we can have party members killing each other.
If that is done, then Dragon Age 2 would become much more complex and much more interesting.

I second Isabella. Also, want some ancient elf that somehow just emerged from the fade and is an arcane warrior. Seems that there is a lot of room for ancient elf lore.

I think a griffon could fit into the game quite well, actually. Even in the real world, species thought to be extinct are sometimes rediscovered. Perhaps the party could follow a trail of clues to find a group of griffons on a remote mountain somewhere. After helping protect the griffon family from a nasty darkspawn attack, a cute orphan baby griffon warms up to you. Although the little guy can't fly yet, and certianly isn't big enough to mount, his talons can cut even the toughest darkspan down.

Another Dwarf, but one that is very different from Oghren. I like Oghren but he sort of seems a little stereotypical of a dwarf, heavy drinker, big on fighting, etc. I want a more non-traditional dwarf, maybe someone more cunning, like a political dwarf noble.

a Dalish Elf would be a cool idea, especially if your PC was human.

a mages collective mage, would be interesting to see the non-apostate, non-tower mage attitude.

a real templar could be interesting.

A Qunari elf...I know the yhave them, but are they different in any way? What's their culture like?

Perhaps the Griffon can be like the drake or small dragon, gameplay mechanics wise. Having a Griffon at your side would make you scream: "I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome my griffon is!!"

And yes, I favor the addition of a dwarven mastermind. Perhaps Bhelen's son or something. aT least Bhelen like. And if you are weak enough as a leader, expect him to conspire against you.

Well the Blight is over so I doubt there will be another one in the Dragon Age. Probably won't even be a Grey Warden in the next game unless it continues the PC's adventures.

I liked all of the OP's suggestions.

But I'd like it if it was a FEMALE Orlesian Chevalier. We could use some female warriors.

I would also like a Desire Demon.

I would also like having a Templar like Ser Otto; that guy was badass (slaping a book out of his face) and had the best death scene in the game!

But how will you move her? On the other tentacle, that could be part of the quest to get her. You have to go to the mages circle and get the tranquil to make a hover chair for her.

And of course you'll have to have a romance option.

Player: "Hey Baby, you've got the taint, I've got the taint... Let's go to my tent."
Broodmother: >Darkspawn Roar<
Player: "You're absolutely right. My tent is too small. Your place then?"
Broodmother: >Darkspawn Roar<
Player: Giggity!

More seriously, I'd like to see Ser Cauthrien as an NPC. And of course a romancable one. Of course that's not too likely, since you have the option to kill her twice and have to pass a couple of hard [persuade] or [intimidate] checks to not kill her, but it's what I'd like.

As for the rest of the NPCs... I don't really want to see any of them return. Their stories are already done, and the epilogue gave us closure. The only one I'd like to see back would be Shale. But even then, I'm not sure. There's not too much you can do with the character now that their quest is done.

No griphons please, it's already bad enough people thinking Grey Wardens are Super Paladins of Pure Lawful Goodness

Lol, reverse hentai, the tentacle beast finally gets what she gives.

By griffon I mean a badass griffon, not the cute kind.
Something like this: http://www.students....rom/griffon.jpg

That doesn't make Grey Wardens super paladins of lawful goodness. It makes them super mother****ers of awesome badassery.

No, I guarantee you, give them anything with wings and we'll be overrun with 15 year olds wondering why their Grey Warden companion just murdered someone

Hence why I suggest the intro scene of the Griffon is it biting someone's head off, preferably a female or maybe a baby. That should settle it.

Well look what Duncan did to Jory, and then note the 10-11 page thread we're having about it. People have their preconceived notions and it's nearly impossible to divorce them of them. Like the conversation with Wynne:

Player: griffons!?
Wynne: Maker's breath! It's like talking to a child.

No no no. I stumbled upon some concept art for the next Dragon age: modern warfare. Your only companion will be an assault rifle. The grifon is a tank.

haha true. Well it's their loss really if they can't see anything outside their indoctrinated ideas of "good" and "evil".

thoroughly enjoyed oghren and would love to see him in another game. Can't count how many times i had to stop playing because of some drunken comment he made while running around.

as to new companion ideas?

I would love to see the grey warden don't give a **** attitude as OP mentioned. Alistar was cool to have along but give me someone who doesn't mind me intimidating the reverend mother in lothering and might even join in! haha.

If it's set in Orlais, it needs two things:

-Chevalier

-Bard

Add in characters from Ferelden

-Mabari

-Some kind of human (like a minor nobleman or something)

And for diversity:

-Dwarf

-Elf

-Qunari

That's 7 characters there, leaving room for one or two more (if they keep the current party format). All of them are pretty much required. The two additional one's I'd like to see:

-A Chasind (warrior or shaman)

-A Tevintrim(??)

If there going to have gryphons, then you have to have someone companion involved in that (probably) major story arc. My guess is it would be some Avar bloke who found an egg in the Frostbacks or something.

I'd prefer to simply have a sentient suit of armor and axe.

I hope it's in a completely different part of the world, maybe with cameo appearances by the DA1 characters.

Well.... 2013 isn't too far off, is it?

This is based on the decisions I made:

Leliana

Zevran

Oghren

Shale

Grey Warden

Werewolf

Dog

???

???

I feel that Alistair, Anora, Morrigan, and Morrigan's child will also be prominent characters.
