Since it's most likely (based on the ending of the game), that you will continue in DA2 with your character from DA (just like you'll be able to do in ME2) I would hope to see some of the old companions back.

I for one would like to have Leliana and Morrigan back as companions. They are by far the most interesting companions imo.

I would be disappointed to have a continued story. I'd prefer more breadth, and have other stories within the same world.

A griffin would be nice and I would also like an assassin type of character like Artemis Entreri was before the name of a book i'll no name (when you had more change of getting meaningfull emotion from a rock than Artemis). But you know one member of you party you can't really influence, one that will pretty much do whatever he wants despite of what you want to do.

Yes, I also would like a badass type assassin, unlike Zevran. With a dagger in onme hand and a small crossbow in the other, like this!

I find it interesting that he seems so hated on the boards. If you put the effort into making him care for the PC, especially if you romance him, you can see that there's a lot more to his character than he lets on. And if, like Mass Effect, it's assumed you play the same character in DA:2, I wouldn't want to go through a whole new romance after Zevran decided to stay with the PC. It'd feel like weird, virtual cheating, or something...that I probably shouldn't be looking so deeply into...

As far as reading to deeply into this game, your doing far worse than preaching to the Choir here.

I mean the games main writer frequents these boards... it's like preaching to God, heh...

I'm not trying to sound offensive, in fact, I guess I'm saying, specualte and read between the lines more !

I would like to see party size increased by one.  I really wish I could take along leilana, ogren or zevran and not feel like I am being gimped.
