It's too bad the PS3 doesn't have this option. I got ME2 for that as well, and I couldn't stand how out-of-sync the audio and video would get.

The X360 version really spoiled me.

You can't install ME2 on the PS3? Really? Man, that kind of sucks. You can do so with a good number of PS3 games, as my library can attest to. Certainly not all of them though, yeah.

Could've sworn that every PS3 game had mandatory installs.

Nope, not in the least. MGS4 does, for example, but Uncharted 2 doesn't even have an install. Not one that I could find, in any case.

I mentioned on page 3, ME2 on the PS3 has an install file of 4gigs or so. DA:O/2 also have install files, I had to delete my DA:O install to make room on my PS3.

Hopefully when we install both discs we will only have to use the first.

Can you do this with ME1 and 2 as well?

Is it too late if I've already played them both?

I'd REALLY like to try this...

Help on how?

It's possible with any game, so yes.

On the dashboard menu when ME1/2 is in the disc drive go to game and you should have more options (x) available. Press 'X' and then 'install game' and provided you have enough HDD space or you have a big enough flash drive you can install whatever games you like but you still have to have the game in the drive and switch disks as a security measure.

Thanks y'all! DEFINITELY trying this if my hard drive is big enough!

To be fair, not everyone can do this (20GB HDD doesn't offer enough space).

But people who have 250 GBs should certainly install.

Indeed. Good luck to those who are still on the old 20 GB drives. Hopefully they won't have much trouble.

Heh. I had the 20 gig HDD back when ME2 came out. I just installed disc 2, since most of the time that was the disk in use.

I still have the original 20 GB hard drive. I have to even pass up on DLCs sometimes.

I don't. I don't have the HDD space. My actual HDD has 2.3GB free. I bought a 16GB thumb drive and I installed ME2 to that (it just fit) but I can only ever install one game at a time with what I have. One of my USB ports is definitely bad (it shorted out my phone's network card and I had to get a new one) and so I can't just plug in a second USB drive.

I have the older Halo 3 edition Xbox with a 20GB HDD.

My guess is that it will be three discs like Rage....two discs for single-player and one disc for multi-player.

You press X on the game start icon for game info and the page it takes you have an option to install.

Go to the home section and scroll over that part that say "play [game name]" (not quick play). Click X (Game Details). Select Install. You are set. Make sure to do this for all discs the game comes with.

ME3 should be 15GB, When Chris posted the specs for the demo he copy /paste the info it had 15GB HD space then changed it to 2.5GB for demo.

I've actually never done this.

First game I tried, was NCAA 11 on my old 360 and the field was brown. (glitch or whatever but it was every game I played). So I deleted it off the hard drive and just played disk. I had asumed copying to HDD wasn't the best idea.

This would be an exception rather than a rule. I have heard that some games don't take HDD installation kindly but these do appear to be a rarity.

Arkham Aslyum didn't handle the installation well (i.e. Sound files out of synch during game-play, especially when it came to voice-overs)

I don't. I don't have the room to install games. Got 2gbs on my hard drive and like 700 something mbs on my spare flash drive. Looking to get a new flash drive.

Anything with a lot of loading I install. I'd cringe to think how slow Skyrim would be with the amount of loading that happens there if I didn't install it. Even when I had the smaller drive I always installed my "current" game on the HDD. You can delete the install and it doesn't affect your saved games so you can just cycle games on and off the HDD.

You can still install the game to a flash drive (as I explained earlier in the thread). The overall performance is somewhat slower than the HDD, though.

I always install any game I know I'll be playing on for a while, and ME3 is no exception. My 360 is around three years old now, and I just can't stand that horrible noise that the disk reader makes when you play a fairly big game such as Battlefield 3 or Skyrim.

Yup. Big games are where installation really comes into play. With the amount of content some games have today, it's almost too much running them off the disc. Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, Deux Ex, DA:O, and ME2 all come to mind.
