I'm not going to rail against your opinion, but here's the thing: Lots of us, people on these boards even, liked the mako. A lot. Please don't insinuate that we didn't, because we did, and still do.
Same with elevators. Some people (me included) thought they were a clever way to transition from one place to another without the need for jarring loading screens, and they had teammate dialogue as an added bonus! Want to know a secret? The loading screens in ME2 lasted almost EXACTLY as long, if not longer than the elevator rides in ME1.
But back to the mako: Those of us who enjoyed it adjusted to the controls, got good at them, and kept on truckiing on our merry way. No, it wasn't perfect, but it was a believable exploration vehicle that allowed us a degree of freedom and exploration that ME2 was sorely lacking. If it wasn't for you, hey, no worries, but don't insinuate that nobody enjoyed the feature and missed not having it in the second and third games.
I'm solely talking about the controls. Don't get that get confused with the concept behind the vehicle. Any concept can sound good on paper, but if it's executed badly, it doesn't matter how good or bad the concept behind it is. For the record, I
did try to adjust to the controls, but no matter what I tried it ran like a bathtub on wheels and made exploring planets tedious and dull. I stand by my belief that most people here just want it out of a misguided sense of nostalgia.
As for elevators, I found them even more tedious and dull than the Mako. And before you tell me "But they were
immersive!", i'll take loading screens that are aesthetically pleasing with pleasant music and interesting game info, over a loading screen that solely consists of Shepherd and crew starting blankly at the player with no music playing and little dialogue/information (I rarely got any in my elevators).
