Question... Why would this Kai Leng-fellow have Cerberus sign on his chest?

I know... "BUT HE'S OMG SUPA NINJA AND NOBODY WILL LIVE TO TELL THE TALE, LOL!", but someone might.

When has Cerberus ever been smart enough to not broadcast who they are?

That's the bad thing about a novel character suddenly getting a real character design. He looks completely different from how I imagined him looking when I read Retribution.

Mass Effect 1.

Also, you realize Mass Effect is getting closer and closer to using lightsabers, right?

I mean really, swords? Why would you equip anyone with a sword in Mass Effect? Give 'em a damn gun and they'll be more effective.

Krogan love melee weapons just because of their barbaristic and bloodthirsty nature.
Personal armour is also abundant in universe. And i believe that if plating can stop slugs fired with tremendous speed, it would have no problem absorbing impact from thrusting a bladed weapon into it. Slashing a sharp knife/blade/whatever against a flimsy chainmail just dulls the blade. And even if melee weapon really hits, there is problem with it ususally getting stuck in body and wielder getting unwanted attention from possible victim's squaddies. This "melee the mashinegunner" biz just screams of show-off, which i hate.

Ya know....why is cerberus using Katana anyway?

You'd think they would have jumped on the omni blade bandwagon unless its experimental tech for Shepard.

Kai Leng is a CQC specialist and a prideful ****.
He's going to keep a sword regardless of what you think and then shove it down your throat.

Swords bypass shields. I'll admit that going into battle with just a sword is pretty stupid but hopefully the phantom is the only enemy to do so.

No, I get it. He's Asian. I wonder if Kasumi will use one too? At least she's Japanese.

Kai Leng never struck me as someone who was flashy.

Point is though, if you gave Kai Leng and all those Phantoms decent guns then they wouldn't need fancy acrobatics to close in on Shepard.

Sure, give 'em a nice incase they do get close, but having melee as your main attack is just stupid.

It's like this is some kind of dumb video game or something...

Well there are cracks in the armor, there always will be. But yeah, agreed on attacking the armored parts. How would the blades go trough them? Are they vibra-swords or something? Well maybe they got artifical muscles.

It's amazing how technology in Mass Effect regresses with each game.

"Rule of cool" I guess, except Phantoms don't look cool at all. A charging krogan is a lot scarier because they don't need to flip around doing acrobatics; they can just run right up to you.

I suppose a lot of it is personal preference. I think it's kind of cool looking, to be honest, at least with the Phantom (which makes a bit of sense, since she's supposed to be cloaked and stealthy. Guns are noisy.)

Yeah, sure is cloaked in the screens I've seen.

If by cloaked you mean doing fancy flips out in the open with no cover.

It's stupid. Stupid enemy design with a stupid fanbase in mind.

Befitting a stupid game.

Flipping about like that is a good way to get shot, anyhow. Even combat rolls are unfeasible outside video games.

But more importantly.

Hair physics.

I imagine that had more to do with the fact that ME1's Cerberus sidequests (like most sidequests in ME1 in general) used generic models for both personnel and environments than it did with any deliberate art design choices.

Sure, if you see them, they'll start doing stupid flips. But I think the whole point is that you don't see them until they're right there-oh wait you're impaled.

I'm also glad that anyone who disagrees with you is, by default, a part of the "stupid" fanbase.

Man if that fool landed on my Femshep vanguards hovercar the last thing he would see is the blue glow from her biotic shockwave before his guts would be plastered all over the walls.  Flipping amateur.

You answered your own question. Hell Shepard is also using a melee weapon... The Omni-Blade!
I'd imagine you would either have to be a Krogan or get AUGMENTED, the latter option would be reletively cheap

Indeed, we went from space age guns with unlimited ammo, to fairly modern ones with limited ammo, to lightsaber-ish blades and other melee weapons. All that in a mere timespan of 3 years.

To butcher a quote of Einstein's: I don't know with what weapons ME4 will be fought, but ME5 will be fought with sticks and stones.

Yeah and I can just vanguard charge those fools who do the flips and flops. Then they will be flying across air and have shells on their collective hinds.
