Size doesn't factor into how "clean" or "minimalist" something is, as long as that thing is within the accepted parameters for it's basic type of...thing.

Like, a Masamune is a type of katana. As long as it fits within the parameters of a katana, the size isn't as much of a factor of it's style.

So I'm guessing you meant aesthetically minimalist, in which case, I agree.

In design, not so much.

Is there any purpose to his hunched-with-sword-behind-back-pose?

Why didn't he just jump on the roof of the car, sword first? The first and last thing the driver would see would be a sword piercing the roof.
But I guess that just isn't cinematic enough.

He is jumping on a goddman hovercar with intent to kill driver with a sword. This charcterises him not as a poser, but as friggin madman. Best way if shep will kill him Indiana Jones style.

I categorize as a poser anyone who values stlye over effectiveness.

If you twirl around like a ballerina with a sword - youre a poser. Needles waste of energy. No efficiency in movement. No proper swordsman woulkd ever fight like that.
If you don't take advantage of the element of surprise - if you are posing instead of shooting/hacking - then you are a poser.

Sadly a lot of anime and moves suffer from this. And game that try to be cinematic fall prey to this as well.

Some of them are people who like to complain about smallest of details, like
this game was their creation and someone crapped on it. But really, I can't fault them I complain too.
