I saw some arguing over how Kai Leng killed a Krogan with a knife, and I'd like to point out that he killed a Krogan unarmed before he joined Cerberus.

In fact, isn't that the reason Cerberus hired him in the first place?

I categorize as a poser anyone who values stlye over effectiveness.

If you twirl around like a ballerina with a sword - youre a poser. Needles waste of energy. No efficiency in movement. No proper swordsman woulkd ever fight like that.
If you don't take advantage of the element of surprise - if you are posing instead of shooting/hacking - then you are a poser.

Sadly a lot of anime and moves suffer from this. And game that try to be cinematic fall prey to this as well.

Agreed. But in my vision, best way to do this would be hitting a hovercar with a high-caliber round or sabotage its energy source-there is loong way down usually. This and little bit of insurance if victims are dead is style i surely appreciate.

Btw, anime suffers from this a lot more, japanese have a knack for ninjas vs commandos with ninjas usually winning. Which is laughable, especially coupled with overemotional actor play and strang dialogues that are ridden with stupid detail.

When has Cerberus ever been smart enough to not broadcast who they are?

Mass Effect 1.

Also, you realize Mass Effect is getting closer and closer to using lightsabers, right?

I mean really, swords? Why would you equip anyone with a sword in Mass Effect? Give 'em a damn gun and they'll be more effective.

Swords bypass shields. I'll admit that going into battle with just a sword is pretty stupid but hopefully the phantom is the only enemy to do so.

It's not just swords.Phatomscan absorb biotics and have biotic sheilds. Nohaving a gun doesn't stop any one from using biotic and teck powers. Remeber, sabatoge is back andit over hates gus and their wasatime you could turn guns off by hacking them in  ME1.

Batman sure as hell isn't a poser.

Unless I'm missing something, Batman strikes from the shadow. He uses stealth and surprise. The first thing you see is a batarang or a rope that drags you away.

Now if Batman were to dramaticly step out of the shadow and stare down gun-armed villains or do fancy acrobatics unecessarily... He would be a poser.

Looks like someone is not very familiar with the original Batman.

The best assasin is the one you don't even know was there. So yes..sabotage,a remote-detonatedbomb..stuff like that.

Or jusmp on the car with sticky C4 (or equialent). Jump, stick it on, jump off. By the time anyone figures out what you did, they are already an expanding cloud of debris.

That still doesn't change the fact that it is incorrect to consider Batman (necessarily) as stealthy.

Even then. You want the assasin to have a clean geaway...something that's hard to do if one draws attention to himself.
Sure, you COULD just nuke the entire site, but the whole point of an assasin is precision and deniability.

I forgot about all of that. Can't believe I forgot about sabotage though, I'm sure Tali has it so I can't wait to run into her again.

No, the incident you refer to was the one with the knife.  He killed a krogan while on leave on the Citadel with a standard issue Alliance combat knife.

Kai Leng uses katana's in te game? niga wut?

Could be a heavily modded custom toothbrush. You never know with that guy.

"Time to get those teeth brushed, Mr. Shepard."

inaftertoothbrushjoke

That could be one of those fancy-shmancy molecular blades that get talked about in the codex. You know, the ones that can penetrate a krogan's skin?

But we all know how it'll go.

Commander Shepard walked into his/her cabin, only to see the Cerberus Asassin Kai Leng ransacking shelves for for a bowl and cereal. He gets a bowl, only to notice Shep staring at him bewwildered. Having no sharpened utilities such as his trusty toothbrush on hand, he smashes the bowl on the desk,  then throws his new weapon at Shepard's neck, cutting a deep wound, killing him/her almost instantly.

I like this human, he understands.

No, he doesn't understand that Kai Leng is wwwaaaaaaaaaaay to badass to be killed like that.

More likely:

*Kai Leng lands on hood of space car*
*Shep pulls out N7 Eagle and the car begins shaking*
*Kai Leng slides out his katana and stabs it through the window*
*the katana strikes Shepard's chair, only one inch away from Shepard's head*
*Shepard shoots be misses*
*Kai Leng triest to stab Shepard again, but Liara pulls the wheel of the car*
*Kai Leng falls off the car*
*Kai Leng shouts: "Cerberus is blasting off agaaaaaaaaaaain! ...meow..."*
*Shepard: Damn, that was a close one!"

I honestly have a gut feeling that you'll be able to recruit Kai Leng (optional, of course) near end game. (and no, i haven't read the leaked script)

Trust me, if you have read the novels you know this is never gonna happen. Kai Leng is even more militant pro-human anti-alien than the Illusive Man himself is.

He uses intimidation tactics. And you know, he does show up and then dissapear again. Not to mention, he uses batarangs and all other COMPLICATED ways to stop villains, when he could have just shoot them from shadows, like you said before.

That's the bad thing about a novel character suddenly getting a real character design. He looks completely different from how I imagined him looking when I read Retribution.

Funny, because he looks almost EXACTLY like how I imagined him when I read Retribution. Well, I did expect him to be a bit more buffed though. And I didn't expect him to have goggles/sunglasses. But those are the only differences.

I would just flip the car upside down so he would fly off like a bad habit. Or fly close to the bridge seen in the picture and smash his head against it.

You're not a real cyborg before you have sunglasses, it's part of the initiation.

Kai Leng is a CQC specialist and a prideful ****.
He's going to keep a sword regardless of what you think and then shove it down your throat.

No, I get it. He's Asian. I wonder if Kasumi will use one too? At least she's Japanese.

Kai Leng never struck me as someone who was flashy.

Point is though, if you gave Kai Leng and all those Phantoms decent guns then they wouldn't need fancy acrobatics to close in on Shepard.

Sure, give 'em a nice incase they do get close, but having melee as your main attack is just stupid.

It's like this is some kind of dumb video game or something...

Kai Leng and the Phantoms should use a combination of guns and swords.

A sword in the right hand, a gun in the left hand.

Then these enemies (Leng and the Phantoms) would be less deadly from far away, since they basically shoot from the hip. But as soon as they get close, the'll cut you up with a sword.

Yeah, that would be a pretty awesome enemy to deal with.

But that's the thing basically: When did Kai Leng become a cyborg? Did it happen in Retribution or in Decraption?

I haven't read Decraption, never will and it was almost a year ago when I read Retribution, so did I miss something?

There's a throwaway line in Deception at the end where TIM tells Kai to report for surgery. That's it.

Lame. That makes Decraption even more crap. Seriously, f*ck that novel. Hereby I declare Decraption officially as non-canon.
