It seems that every time I see the dialogue wheel in mass 3 it only has two options, a paragon response and a renegade response. Not the colored ones, but in the tone. In the consequences trailer this was seen, in the beta leak it was only two options during earth and sur'kesh. I figured that was due to it being in beta. Well now new footage of those levels has been shown and the dialogue wheel still has only two options, nice or mean.
I just want bioware to assure me, if it's true, that these are just isolated instances and there will be more dialogue choices than two to choose from. It severely limits the game. How else can we differentiate each Shepard if we can only choose one of two options, choosing to be happy or angry in response? I just hope Bioware hasn't thrown out player choice when it comes to selecting what Shepard says and only gives us two options to control merely the tone of voice. That's not really roleplaying.
So please tell me I'm wrong and there are many instances where the dialogue wheel has more than just two options to choose from. Everything else I've seen has been spectacular, but the dialogue is starting to concern me.

Bioware please assure me there will be more than two dialogue choices

OK, to answer the main OP's question:
The renegade/paragon dialogue system is much more fine tuned. You won't be either kissing babies OR killing them in this game. So what you saw was only part of a much bigger system that I think is very cool. So no there are not only two choices.
Yay!
