Those of you who use Twitter, a lot of us are changing our profiles to this! :wizard:

I love FemShep because she reminds me of a girl I knew who went to West Point. She was insanely smart and hard working. I don't like to think I'm FemShep because FemShep represents a lot of real women who are tough as nails but still have complexities and issues. FemShep makes me feel humble and empowered.

She is strong, no-nonsense, and something for other video game companies to aspire to putting into their games. She's awesome, and you guys should be proud of your creation.

and this...

Hathur wrote...

That's easy.

She's a woman in video games portrayed in a positive and strong manner that other women and especially young girls can respect or look up to... most women in video games are portrayed as idealized fantasies of some men (as are some of the supporting cast females in ME2 & ME3)... but the lead role is a strong, confident woman who doesn't need to flaunt herself about as eye candy and can just be a hero who happens to be female rather than merely a  "female hero" where her gender or sexuality is the defining trait rather than her personality and deeds.

More games need character leads like femshep :wizard:

Beautifully put.

This thread is a downer! Let's start the celebrations early! It's FemShepFriday in some regions!

Why do you love FemShep?*

*No Mark Meer / DudeShep bashing. This is a day of love :)

I was a little apprehensive about putting that but then I just told myself, "Why the f**k not?"

That picture of femshep looks as if she is 16. I hope in game she is looking more early 30's as the lore states.

Hathur said it first, and I have to agree.

FemShep is Commander Shepard, first human Spectre, saviour of the Citadel first and a woman second. The fact that she's female plays a role in defining her as a character (as it should, imo), but first and foremost she's a badass who saves the galaxy (who happens to be a woman.)

This.

I really like the rest of that artist's work, but that FemShep one really missed the mark for me. Far too young looking. MaleShep's picture certainly didn't have that issue...

Why do I love FemShep? Strong female character, etc, etc. Important, yes. However, one of my fondest video game memories was the first time I played Metal Gear Solid. Talking with Naomi on the Codec, who was, of course, Jennifer Hale. (in a weird British accent.) So, it's like being with an old friend. *sniff* Cheesy, but true.

'Cuz she's hawt, duh.
Hey, what can I say, If I have to stare at someone's backside for 20+ hrs, I'd rather it be femShep's than broShep.

Keira Knightley. She's 26 Just a couple years younger than femShep. How old do you have to look to be 29? (And a badass)

Come on guys! There's so much negativity here normally. Today/tomorrow is a day of celebrating just one of the many things that makes Mass Effect so special. For that time, let's make the BSN a place where we can talk about what we have in common. Not what make us different.

#FemShepFriday

Also, I'm still at work, so I'm going to get back to that... Will pop in now and again to make sure it's a party :)

I tried to make my FemShep look like Taylor Swift. She wound up looking like Martha Stewart. It was sad.

I like FemShep because at the end of the day, being a woman isn't a personality to her.

What he meant was, can we not have all this divisiveness masquerading as equality?

Actually, he probably didn't mean that...
