Ignorance eh? Whatever you say...
But no need to ruin this topic for everybody else. I'm sure it's destined to go somewhere entertaining.

Oh, and one last thing, Reco. You think you're some paragon of reason and are completely immune to ignorance, but I'd say that's pretty arrogant in any person.
I realize I can never comprehend everything about peoples' feelings and the complexities of the world, but at least I know my heart is in the right place in trying to look out for everyones' interests, instead of just the interests of the extreme and vocal majority that denies opportunity to others who have every right to it.

He's a poorly written character with a romance trap. That's what's up with the dislike. *hint hint Bioware; label the romance options with "Flirt" *
On the other hand, I have a friend who disgustingly calls him "stereotypical black man #5" (friend happens to be black so don't start you trolls); and he legitimately HATES him because he's offended.

Heaven forbid somebody be expected to show some decency in public or not be able to sleep with Garrus or Wrex or whoever as a guy in a video game. Yeah, strip them of their rights for trying to deny people that "opportunity" to express their "identity". What a perfect way for those in power to shut up opposition.

BTW, I do like how that last paragraph of yours keeps changing. First something about the majority, now it's about the big bad vocal majority wanting to deny

Considering your definition of "public decency" when we talked about DADT I really have to question your judgement. And Wrex? Seriously? Not even the girls want him.ReconTeam wrote...

And I never said expressing identity in equal way as others in a videogame was denial. It's a sound business decision that might have to be done because of time and resource priorities. Doing that irl, however where things actually matter, is different.
Edit: Everyone who knows me has an idea of how crazy I am with edits. And "majority" was the wrong term I made the mistake of using. I actaully meant extreme zealots like Santorum and the people who try to represent and play the straight white male citizens - the only ones who deserve the most consideration and opportunity by their logic.
But whatever, I'm done with you. If you have any maturity you'll refrain from trying to bait me with another sassy comment.

Except for Jacob - he's the token sane guy. The guy who dealt with his issues on his own. Pessimistic. And he's a human.
Sane - Less interestingDealt with his issues - Less interestingPessimistic - Not fun to chat with, because he's not snarky about it
Human - less interesting than aliens
It's not that he's a bad character or anything, but when compared to the Normandy crew he doesn't stand out. I don't hate him at all, I just tend to forget that he exists.

And as you from that same conversation I'd question your judgement as well. While I'm not certain what Santorum has said to bother you (I find him far more tolerable than Newt) this isn't the place for politics.
For somebody who claims to find baiting immature, you sure do a lot of it yourself. But hypocrisy doesn't concern you I suppose. Regardless, lets leave this before the moderators return.

It's true. I do bait, but the difference here is that it's even more immature to do so to continue arguing when someone is willing and wants to end it. And I only bait when someone is being ridiculous, redundant, or rude.
But really, I'd rather be occassionally a hypocrite for little things than consistently a person who holds nothing but ill will, contempt, and negative bias towards others he doesn't approve of or agree with. /bait

You really can't resist it can you? Seems you're somebody who always wants the last word too. <_< But go ahead and excuse everything you do under the basis that I'm cynical and have contempt for those who've earned it.

Btw, I've just looked up a few defintions.
Bigotry: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance
Hatred: Intense dislike or ill will.
Intolerance: Impatience with annoyances
Contempt: The feeling that a person or a thing is beneath consideration, worthless, or deserving scorn.
Now really, do you think it's healthy or considerate to treat any individual or community with such feelings? Do you really think any individual or community can be considered worthless or below consideration? Do you really think what you feel is anything but hate?
I don't care if you think they deserve it as a whole. That's generalizing an entire group of people which is always wrong.

You think yourself some great voice of truth then? Or some impartial observer of this whole issue? Think of me however you wish, but I have always judged based on actions, history, and intent, and I will continue to do so. It is not hatred, but disgust for the lies, the displays, the actions of organizations which hide their always-shifting goals behind emotions and noble sounding buzzwords. Organizations and elements of communites that are just as self-righteous and arrogant as anybody else once you look past the facade of "caring about everybody" they create. And it is no different with so many other groups of individuals throughout the world and throughout history.

Justify where it stems from wherever you like or apply it to whomever else you like to try and draw peoples' eye away from what you're currently targeting, but that doesn't change what it is.

I don't hate Jacob, I just think he's a victim of half-assed writing. I don't know why people are comparing him to Kaidan though, other than the fact they're the only male human LI's in ME1/2. They're both nice decent guys but I enjoyed talking to Kaidan a lot more, he opens up to Femshep about his past, and wants her to get to know him so it feels like a natural friendship/romance. Jacob just seemed uncomfortable and uninterested talking to Femshep (her pervy dialogue made it more awkward, but he could have at least played along), and it felt like I had to force him to be friends with me. Even though I got to the "spilling drinks" part I didn't really feel any closer to him. Maybe if I had romanced him it would be different but his standoffishness at the beginning was really off-putting.
I 100% agree with this, I try to continue to like Jacob but I am waiting for a real reason to do so. The writing was bad and I think it was because the devs paid attention when people were calling Kaidan whiney for sharing his story (you know like every other character does...). They tried to go for an "I don't need saving" style character that was hot. But we instead got closed off and OTT cringe.
But anyway I want Jacob back in ME3 and I want his shirt off!

"Token sane guy" Alenko, who dealt with issues on his own and falls in same "goody-goody male human soldier" category is my favourite squadmate while Jacob is closer to bottom of list. I guess it's more features that matter than being not at all sane and being alien.Mi-Chan wrote...
