I was wondering about this. Since it is already known that Kai Leng is an assassin sent by Cerberus to kill Shepard. He is considered ruthless, discreet and anti-alien. In Mass Effect: Deception it is known that he closely monitors David Anderson.

As rumors goes there is still one slot open for an extra squad member aside from the bonus character you gain from the Collector's Edition. Also there has been announced that new LI's will appear in ME3. In Cantonese, the name "Kai" means "following intimately" or "unceasing",

Could it be that Kai Leng is that possible missing squad member and LI? What do you guys think?Posted Image

No. He's TIMs attack dog who has been known to kill aliens because they are not Human. He would not fit in Team Shep

I think it would be really interesting if he did switch teams and was a possible LI but then again, I am crazy so it probably won't happen. No sarcasm here, honestly.

Same here. I'd like to see it happen, but I'm not expecting anything. That way, I'll be surprised and happy (and rushing another FemShep playthrough) if it does happen, and not too badly disappointed if it doesn't.

It'd be interesting, but Kai Leng is ruthlessly pro-Cerberus. There isn't much room for nuance in his character.

He's very clearly a villain in ME3, as a counterpart to Shepard, and so won't be a squadmate or LI.

Kai Leng as an LI? I'd be all for this! (See sig) :wizard:
It's not likely so I won't disappointed if he isn't but it would be great if he is! :P

My thoughts exactly. Who the hell would bang a guy with such an ancient haircut?

Um... No Kai Leng was in the Alliance but sent to prison because he killed a Krogan in a bar fight on the citadel with just a standard issue Alliance Knife. Kai had a history of unnecessary and sometimes unprovoked hostility towards aliens and so the Alliance came down hard on him and sent him away for good. Cerberus broke him out because TIM wanted him for an attack dog. Sadly or thankfully (depending on your opinion) TIM is not able to find many humans who have those kind of characteristics.

I can't see Kai joining Shepard or becoming a LI, not at all given that in ME2 Shepard couldn't even join Cerberus and was forced to have a meltdown and tell TIM to go F*** himself.

Also my Shepard would rather tie Kai up to some scrap metal and send him into the nearest sun to burn up and die.

It would send a powerful message and show just what my Shep thinks of Cerberus and psychopathic killers who get a buzz from breaking and entering to set up wire taps and spy cams and needing more of a buzz decides to help them self to a bowl of Cereal before leaving.

I doubt it, considering Kai Leng is pretty much "TIM's ****" in every aspect. His undying loyalty for the guy, at least he seems to be pretty much the most loyal, mindless sheep TIM has, probably prevents him from even considering the option.

In addition, with what he ended up doing in Deception I don't want him near my ship or crewmembers.

So was Loghain in Dragon Age: Origins and he ended up being recruitable. That being said, no I don't think Kai Leng will be.

Interesting image.

OP, we already know of two spoiler squadmates, so I'm not sure that "one slot" you mention isn't already occupied.

He's anti-alien.

But if Cerberus are indoctrinated and working for the Reapers (aliens).. then would he still be following them if he wasn't indoctrinated himself?

You're a nobody until someone makes a thread wondering if you'll be an LI.

Why does everyone want a character to be an LI. Cant we just leave him as a villain. If you have read the books it just wouldn't make any sense for him to join Shepard, hes pro human just like Cerberus.

He'd join if we blackmailed him with enough vases and cereal.

I wish he could become a squad member and LI but at this point I don't really think it's happening... as far as I know there is no mention of him as a squadmate in the leaked files, but then again I didn't look at them directly myself... and we don't really know how old the leaked script really is, so things could have been changed.

Also BioWare seems to like not making the best characters romanceable (Sarevok from Baldur's Gate, anyone? STEN in DA:O,  Arishok in DA2... TIM in ME... and Malak in KotOR) but that can be explained because female gamers are a minority.

Although I think Leng would make for a great steamy s/s romance.

Um, seriously? This isn't a Loghain type character. He's far more ruthless and hostile, a professional killer that doesn't have morals.

So, I don't think as a LI, Kai is believable, for one thing, or even possible.
