So you're okay with younger viewers hearing swearing, engaging in sex and innuendo, murdering a plethora of people, and so on and so forth, yet when Shepard and Vega get into a little friendly sparring match, you're suddenly embracing chivalristic moralism? I can't imagine the extent of the cognitive dissonance your mind must face on a daily basis if you can't see any substantial flaws in your logic.Ice Cold J wrote...
Cause, even though she is a marine and all that you mentioned, I just don't like the idea of promoting cross-gender violence.
I've never been in the armed services, but I believe that, in sparring exercises, they match women with women.
Regardless, in something like this, where younger viewers could see it, I'd just as soon there not be a depiction of a woman getting hit by a man, ESPECIALLY in a friendly atmosphere. This could, possibly in the wrong boy's mind, make it seem like women are OK to hit, as long as it's a friendly competition.
Besides, the same point could be gotten across or even make FemShep look better if she dodges all his attacks and lands a right cross to him. Dontcha think?
ZING.
I have always had the firm belief that women and men should be treated equally. Sports should be cross gender, armed forces should be cross gender.
I like how femshep is sparring with vega. I hope they don't use the same animations though, because she has a smaller frame and I imagine agility is more her forte - just for realism sake.
That said, female/male I don't really care, women can be strong, men can be sensitive - treat everyone equally I say. Why can't femshep be strong enough to beat down vega?
I think it's wrong to hit anyone who is weak, be that a woman or man.
Given that commander shepard is a badass, it's not as bad seeing vega and her duke it out, because she is qualified.
We need to get over these male/female generalizations and focus on WHY it is wrong.
Why is it reprehensible to hit a woman? Because they are generally weaker...
Thus... the rule should be, it is reprehensible to hit anyone weaker then you.

I heartly agree. Also about the agility thing. Let's see femShep do some smooth moves!

Kind of irrelevant, but both genders are not on equal footing in regards to body strength and flexibility.
Thats a generalization though.
It may be true overall, but does that make generalizations right? No.
We should judge moral acts based on facts of individual cirtcumstances, not generalizations.
Is it ok for someone to hit a weak man because they are a man? No. so gender is irrelevant when you look at things individually.

I addressed this in my giant (moderately sized) rant. Quote: "While biological women may traditionally be less endowed with muscle compared to biological men, that doesn't mean a woman can't have the potential to be a lean, mean fighting machine like any of her phallus-having compatriots." Just because the rule of thumb is that men are physically stronger, doesn't mean that every man is stronger than every woman.MouseNo4 wrote...

And who cares? Shepard is a badass, as previously stated. The service history clearly attests to this regardless of what you choose—Anderson notes in one path that Shepard's a survivor. A bit of friendly sparring between friends is seriously not a big deal, hence why I made my prior post directed at, uh, that one dude.
Ultimately, as I said before, they were engaged in a consensual punching contest. That's what matters here: consent. And even so, in my eyes, a woman being beaten against her will is no worse than the same occurring to a man. They're both terrible, but we must remember that this is fiction, in fact, and focuses a lot on action, so it's inevitable that the protagonist is going to take a few hits in the line of duty, regardless of what gender the player picked.

Underwhelmed to be honest. I'm waiting for a vid to compete with the awesome cinematic trailer of ME2 featuring Grunt and Thane. Seeing that trailer made me go out and buy an Xbox.
Don't you think they will release a cgi trailer

so where's the special default "man-shep" trailer and special day then? oh and patryk garrett promo image etc. y'know: now that we're all about "equality"... it's not like there's been a massive amount of promo material available till now.
BW didn't/ won't do it because there is no such requirement, because MaleShep is used by BW as the main marketing face of ME from the begining.

Anyways, that scene where she leans out of the car and fires off a round is probably my favorite part. Not sure why but that just felt epic.

really - because last time i went into my GAME store, femshep was on the promo art/advertising al over, i almost didn't recognise it as ME3, the brand/recognition has now been diluted so far.
