Pause. I was reading some of the reactions in this thread and what the f*ck? You guys b!tch and moan for years crying for a FemShep trailer. "OMG make a Femshep one!" "To it to be fair!" cry cry cry. And then Bioware listens and they not only make a FemShep trailer they let the fans vote on how she looks. And then you get what you want and a lot of you keep b!tching.

"Why does she have so much make up?"

"No real soldier wares that much make up!"

"You can't be a strong woman and have on make up!"

Why does she have to be bare faced? Why can't femshep be hot? There are lots of smoking hot women who are in the military. You guys need to...

Umm, did we see the same video? seriously. first, the nose was great. it looked like a normal nose for a change. second my femshep has just as much makeup and spider lashes (tammy fay) without any mods (ps3) so i am not understanding what your talking about. unnatural compared to what? a human model? she is not a representation of a person, she was made form scratch. why would we have to admit to something that is a given. thats liek having to admit the sky is blue when we all know it. is this a symantical argument?
Finally, for them to create her from scratch WITHOUT a point of reference liek sheploo's male model (a human being) I think they did an absolutely amazing job. AMAZING!

maybe you should be asking yourself why they designed a marketing character from scratch.

and that's a silly argument, anyway. who are kaidan, ashley, vega, liara, etc based on? some characters have facial models, but many do not, and they look fantastic.

femshep looks like the creepy lara croft redesign.

Because we asked for it. also casey hudson talked about this in an interview, it is because people have been customizing her in the first place. plus WE voted on her look. and she looks just as good if not better than ashley. in this thread there is a screenshot of all 3 of them together. again they all have the same quality. I wonder if it is the fact that you dispise her so much that you are picking apart things that others cannot see. and dismissing my argument as silly makes my point. I really dont see what your talking about at all.

I wish Bioware could have at least bothered to give her a high-res face texture.

lol, do you have access to their psd's or something?  What resolution do you think her face texture is?

No she doesn't. ;)

My femsheps don't sport mascara and huge red lips for one, and two they also look like I put some thought into their creation...

Was that Udina I saw with the Citadel Council?

Edit:

Oh Oh forgot to ask if I can keep the ME2 scar for my femshep?

So... saw the trailer. s'alright. Good use of music and dialogue choice, but I felt it tried too hard to feel epic and... wasn't. I have impossibly high standards though. On the bright side, moving up from a LadyHawke pic to a femShep trailer is progress. So there's that. Maybe one day the male default won't be the only character featured in all the advertisements.

...yeah, probably not, but I'm feeling optimistic. :P

Pretty low considering the complete lack of detail.

She did not look like she could take on Vega...but then again manshep didn't either.

Shepard is a cyborg that has headbutted and punched things far bigger than Vega.

Anyway, trailer was sweet.  Not just for Femshep's sake, but because it was a nice, well done trailer.  More epic than the other ones, especially the majority of the Maleshep ones.

If I remember well both have had genetic treatments enhancing strength, so they are stronger than they look. People should also look younger than they are because of extended lifespan.

My only problem with this trailer was the ME2 squadies with their old looks, Miranda must have a closet full of the same model of catsuit, and Samara still hasn´t learnt to zip up her armor.

Damn fine job BioWare! She looks good, competent, and able. If somebody isn't happy with it, they have issues.Image IPB

She looks good. ME2 femshep had a damn gorilla brow thing going that was nearly impossible to get rid of.

detail does not equal texture resolution, certain its lost a bit if its too low, but i dont think that's the case here.  And what details are you talking about?  It's very easy to make a female face ugly if you start adding too many wrinkles and crap.

It's impossible for Bioware to please everyone, so they shouldn't even try. Create a default Shepard they like and leave it at that. You then have the choice to use it or not.

Some people seem to think that everything is designed for them. Just accept that some choices won't be to your liking and move on. Whining constantly won't change a thing.

From what I understand, Udina is on the Council regardless of your prior decisions, because in the books/comics Anderson quits the Council between ME2 and ME3.

That image alone looks a whole lot more detailed than what we see in the trailer, which is quite understandable considering that's a still image there.

I'm on the fence with FemShep's appearance, in some cases it looks really good, in others it looks somewhat odd. i'll attribute that to lighting and the like so shall judge FemShep on tuesday when i'm playing her in the demo.

As to a lot of the complaints:

Textures - Seems a lot of people are judging the textures based on heavy light/bloom scenes. Even the one with Ash/Vega, Shep is the only one standing in the light while they're standing back in the shadows somewhat. The fact is you can't see textures in heavy bloom areas on pale skin. If you look at the low light pics of her you see a lot more detail, but not on par with sheploo because she doesn't have facial hair. Also her face is in constant motion throughout the trailer and is hardly ever at a standstill, so it's hard to judge the detail of the freckles etc save for 00:16. There you can see the details seem to be diffused, bumped and normal mapped in fairly high detail until she moves her head up to look at Anderson's hologram in full screen. If you watch the trailer in large player it blurs to a lesser extent and in the normal size player the detail doesn't blur at all when she moves.

Makeup - Really? The only makeup she has is some dark desaturated lipstick and somewhat heavy eyeliner. Actually the eyeliner is less than I thought I saw in the quick snapshots of Femshep from voice cast trailer. Not exactly barbie and she doesn't even have any blush. The fact is if she didn't have makeup those who have problems with her textures would have bigger problems because the bloom would take out any contrast in her face. I think it would be overdone if she had light purple eyeliner, bright pink lipstick and rouge blush, but she doesn't. Like those who want more makeup critics who want less of it (who are a minority based on the majority of custom femshep screens) are going to have to make a custom Femshep.

Cutism/Accuracy - Again I was surprised they got her as accurate as they did to the concept art. We couldn't judge all the porportions of her face during voting since the concept was a one angled 2D image. When we see Femshep from a similar angle and facial expression as in the concept art (00:48, 01:00 being best while shooting at Kai Leng and 01:09), the ingame version is almost exactly the same. Only when we see her from an angle from below her jaw line, from above her head and/or with a facial expression, does she seem more butch or cuter depending on the combination.

so, broski, where exactly did you see that last one?

considering i'm the most vocal person in this thread right now, i assume you're talking about me.

i also assume you can't or won't read, since i've stated a few times now that all my sheps wear makeup, as do i personally. i don't have a problem with makeup, i have a problem with this much makeup.

AND NO, real soldiers are not allowed to wear as much makeup as shep is here. makeup is permitted within strict, natural guidelines, and this exceeds them; ask any irl soldier. shepard is a spectre and is not required to conform to those standards, of course, but it still looks ridiculous and is ridiculously time-consuming.

i want shep to be hot, but she doesn't look hot here, she just looks like a cartoon. she looks like she stepped out of bioshock: infinite.

that is a problem.

But can we make something similar in ME1 and 2?

I have high hopes that Bioware updates ME1 and 2 with this default Shepard as a choice. I know that is unlikley so I would at least like a video tutorial how to make a female Shepard that looks like her in ME1 and then 2.

Seriously though, nice trailer.  I still think FemShep doesn't look soldierly enough, but I won't be playing her so it doesn't matter.

Why are you guys associating make up and attractiveness with weakness?

My Shep will rock her mascara and lipstick and a new weave.

It's ALWAYS because of the lighting.
