First: Congrats to Bioware. Again, Bioware delivers, I think, and shows that women can be as powerfull
as men and that women in combat equal to men every step of the way. Focusing on what needs to be done to stop the reapers - no matter what it takes.

Oh, and btw:

Has anyone an idea of what the music is? (sorry, didn't have time to read the whole thread). To me it sounds like a version of dies irae, but I could be wrong...

I feel like I've been waiting for this trailer ever since I played ME1 for the first time and utterly fell in love. Thank you so much for making it happen. It's fantastic, and I can't wait to get my hands on the game itself. FemShep rules!

No she doesn't. ;)

My femsheps don't sport mascara and huge red lips for one, and two they also look like I put some thought into their creation...

Good for you, but so far I've haven't seen a single mature AND pretty custom femShep, it's just totally impossible with the Mass Effect custom face creator. Most femSheps are either just plain ugly, or look like a 16 years old barbie doll.

The new default femShep looks like Joanna Dark. As an oldschool gamer with a great amount og nostalgia towards the Nintendo 64 and all it's glorious games (including Perfect Dark), I totally dig that. Reminds me of the good old days.

I'm totally gonna start a new femShep character in ME3 and name her Joanna Shepard. B)

Ok I'm sorry, but I had no issues making a FemShep I liked in the CC.

Eh, the blonde should have won. Nice trailer though. It was full of action. And it was good to see Miranda and Samara.

I'll be sensible and reserve my judgment for the demo. If she is not up to my standards, then I shall bring my fiery wrath down upon the BSN! (not really)

Why are you guys associating make up and attractiveness with weakness?

My Shep will rock her mascara and lipstick and a new weave.

I have been wondering this as well. I get some of it coming from the whole 'not in myyyy military!' angle but it seems a little... too vehment at times.

People on the internet seem to have a thing about ripping into people with big lips too.

As usual, Bioware does a great thing by listening to its fans and provides them with a great trailer, which they didn't have to make, in order to please them. And of course many of them still complain like petulant children. Bioware, keep up the good work. I thought it was an excellent and worthy effort.

AND NO, real soldiers are not allowed to wear as much makeup as shep is here. makeup is permitted within strict, natural guidelines, and this exceeds them; ask any irl soldier. shepard is a spectre and is not required to conform to those standards, of course, but it still looks ridiculous and is ridiculously time-consuming.

And as a counterpoint, I'm a veteran and there were NO BEARDS allowed in the military, yet in Mass Effect half of the alliance navy is sporting massive facial hair. Sorry, your point holds very little ground.

My main Female Shepard has a proud Ashley Williams type nose, perfect for poking out Krogan eyes in head butting contests. Although this one has cool hair, I have to stick with my old one.

Yeah, it's much harder to make a good looking manshep. All of my femsheps have come out pretty. (the mouth is the hardest part to get right, they usually have a bit of an overbite. But oh well.....)

False.  Certain elite soldiers are allowed to grow facial hair and wear their hair longer than what is normally allowed.

That last line of the trailer, "Tell your friends that we're coming for them!" almost made me crap a brick. Absolutely amazing stuff, BioWare. Less than 4 weeks until ME3!!!

I deal with the overbite by giving her Angelina Jolie lips.

Additionally, since I think most of us have made custom femSheps a long time ago, I don't see why everyone's complaining about her face/makeup etc.

Frankly, this is the first time I can close my eyes and pretend that it's MY FemShep in the trailer and that dream won't be ruined by Mark Meer's voice.

That makes me happy.

As to a lot of the complaints:

Textures - [snipped]

Makeup - Really? The only makeup she has is some dark desaturated lipstick and somewhat heavy eyeliner. Actually the eyeliner is less than I thought I saw in the quick snapshots of Femshep from voice cast trailer. Not exactly barbie and she doesn't even have any blush. The fact is if she didn't have makeup those who have problems with her textures would have bigger problems because the bloom would take out any contrast in her face. I think it would be overdone if she had light purple eyeliner, bright pink lipstick and rouge blush, but she doesn't. Like those who want more makeup critics who want less of it (who are a minority based on the majority of custom femshep screens) are going to have to make a custom Femshep.

Cutism/Accuracy - [snipped]

i won't argue on texture or accuracy to concept because a) you have a point about blur and lighting and B) i don't care about concept art, however.

her makeup?

she is wearing, at minimum:

eyelid primer. liquid eyeliner, around the lower and upper lids. matte black eyeshadow, smudged under the eye and above the eye on the lid. matte gunmetal (or lighter black) eyeshow, extended to the browbone. black mascara, applied heavily on both lids. dark brown lipstick. eyebrow pencil, applied heavily.
prep time: at least 15 minutes, more realistically 20-25.

Shepard is sad. ManShep is punching walls and crying before the game begins. FemShep applies make-up, cries to make it wash away and then applies it again. Just before she can cry again, Anderson calls her.

I'll be honest and say she doesn't look much pretty and that I've seen better custom ones. It's not really hyperbolic. Some animations made her look a little weird, but that mostly happen with all Shepards.

She seemed like a custom femshep with a unique hair and freckles texture on her face. I think the make up and lipstick was a little over the top too, but she's fine overall, no problems. I don't care that much for femshep too. *Observation: that made me think why am I bothering to write all that lol

But hey, that's one reason why we can have a custom Shepard!

Ugh... FINE. Though that only exists in the field (read: conducting snoop&poop operations) when trying to blend in, not while strutting around in dress uniform or on ships (like Mass Effect). I find that point to be a nit-pick, but I guess I led myself into that one by making a blanket statement.

Thank you so much for this little trailer, it was a fun if short jaunt. I appreciate it. Finally some FemShep marketing, something I've been waiting for since ME1.

I like the lines used for FemShep, the action, the pacing and thrill of the cuts. It's good!

My two critiques on FemShep specifically, however, are: 1) Where is her face testures? She looks unreal versus Shepard's little scars and forehead/brow/mouth lines and undereye darkness and altogether grizzled Commander look. FemShep by comparison, like has been pointed out during the promo posters, has none of those trademark grizzled veteran Commander looks. I rather FemShep look hardened and wary, not airbrushed and caked on with makeup to hide lines humans normally do have, the kind that MaleShep does have.

My second thing is on the makeup itself. I think the darker palette used, combined with Shep's dark reddish-looking hair and eyes, makes it very stark and harsh. Like the makeup is wearing her rather than the other way around. A lighter palette, like a nude lip and eyeliner, subtle but natural looking would be much better on her.

Thanks again for the effort, kudos.

I loved the video, the glimpses of Samara, Miranda and others were great. Also loved the way Femshep looked will probably change all my Femshep's to that look like all my Manshep's use the Sheploo face.

so, broski, where exactly did you see that last one?

considering i'm the most vocal person in this thread right now, i assume you're talking about me.

i also assume you can't or won't read, since i've stated a few times now that all my sheps wear makeup, as do i personally. i don't have a problem with makeup, i have a problem with this much makeup.

AND NO, real soldiers are not allowed to wear as much makeup as shep is here. makeup is permitted within strict, natural guidelines, and this exceeds them; ask any irl soldier. shepard is a spectre and is not required to conform to those standards, of course, but it still looks ridiculous and is ridiculously time-consuming.

i want shep to be hot, but she doesn't look hot here, she just looks like a cartoon. she looks like she stepped out of bioshock: infinite.

that is a problem.

Number one: Don't call me 'broski'

You are not the only person crying on this thread.

It is a game in the future you can't really make exapmles with the current US military.  Deal with the make up. If you don't want Shep's face to be caked with her mascara and lipgloss change yours when you play.

Bioware tied to give the fans what they want and all you guys are doing is b!tching. You guys voted for the redhead and you got it!

For the record I voted for the black one.

Also.

Deal with it.

That  right there is made of win.

because so did I.

It's Two Steps from Hell (Who also made the audio for the ME2 Trailer) - Armada. Great song.

Most likely not. Sounds more like Two Steps From Hell to me.
