Since I B, W & M about several of the 1->2 changes, it's only fair that I praise Bioware when you do something, well...

...awesome. Image IPB

Thank you, I've missed these screenshots. Then it's only Thane, that we haven't seen in ME3

I do believe that this screen confirms color selection in squad armor customization?

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed by the lack of change some of the former squadmates seem to have received. I can kinda get Tali but you'd think the others would own a piece of different clothing.
Still, FEMSHEP!

It does? Pretty sure Vega's and Ash's armors have always been those colours (as far as ME3 goes)...

Vega's seems to be quite darker, black even.

so, broski, where exactly did you see that last one?

considering i'm the most vocal person in this thread right now, i assume you're talking about me.

i also assume you can't or won't read, since i've stated a few times now that all my sheps wear makeup, as do i personally. i don't have a problem with makeup, i have a problem with this much makeup.

AND NO, real soldiers are not allowed to wear as much makeup as shep is here. makeup is permitted within strict, natural guidelines, and this exceeds them; ask any irl soldier. shepard is a spectre and is not required to conform to those standards, of course, but it still looks ridiculous and is ridiculously time-consuming.

i want shep to be hot, but she doesn't look hot here, she just looks like a cartoon. she looks like she stepped out of bioshock: infinite.

that is a problem.

OMG, you know this is a video game right? set in the future? if you dont want her to wear so much makeup then dont put it on her. you have already stated that you loathe her to the very fabric of your being so it pretty safe to assume your gonna create your own. yay problem solved.

what??? wait, what do you mean this is a videogame? what's a videogame?? i honestly have no idea!! :wizard:

i don't have the option of not putting it on her, dingus, because bioware made her. i am not talking about creating a custom fshep, i am talking about the default appearance rendered to help create an identity for fshep in the same way sheploo has for mshep. i cannot change anything about her awful face, thus i am complaining.

i understand i can custom my own shep, and obviously in the past i have. but i've always greatly enjoyed bioware's defaults, like sheploo and also garrett and marian hawke, because they always look unique for vg protagonists, and i like for the aesthetic of my character to match the rest of the game. sheploo and dragon age 2's defaults were given the same attention that npcs were (compare sheploo to custom low-res mshep, or hawke), and i enjoy the game more when everyone is cohesive.

some people genuinely enjoy playing defaults, guys, and this child-like doll is a huge disappointment for us.

As to a lot of the complaints:

Textures - [snipped]

Makeup - Really? The only makeup she has is some dark desaturated lipstick and somewhat heavy eyeliner. Actually the eyeliner is less than I thought I saw in the quick snapshots of Femshep from voice cast trailer. Not exactly barbie and she doesn't even have any blush. The fact is if she didn't have makeup those who have problems with her textures would have bigger problems because the bloom would take out any contrast in her face. I think it would be overdone if she had light purple eyeliner, bright pink lipstick and rouge blush, but she doesn't. Like those who want more makeup critics who want less of it (who are a minority based on the majority of custom femshep screens) are going to have to make a custom Femshep.

Cutism/Accuracy - [snipped]

i won't argue on texture or accuracy to concept because a) you have a point about blur and lighting and B) i don't care about concept art, however.

her makeup?

she is wearing, at minimum:

eyelid primer. liquid eyeliner, around the lower and upper lids. matte black eyeshadow, smudged under the eye and above the eye on the lid. matte gunmetal (or lighter black) eyeshow, extended to the browbone. black mascara, applied heavily on both lids. dark brown lipstick. eyebrow pencil, applied heavily.
prep time: at least 15 minutes, more realistically 20-25.

oh...my...god. this is the funniest response i have ever seen in my life. she doesn't have those things on because she is a computer generated creation. they dont have that stuff in there. lmfao.
On the serious side, are you upset because you want to dress up as femshep for one of the cons? if thats the case you can do all of that in less than 10 minutes. and you only need eye primer if you want it to last all day. although i have never had a problem with creasing, smudging, or longevity without it.  again play the demo and look at the face. I think you are seeing things that are not there and making this much more difficult than it needs to be if your going to cosplay. with the right color selection, tools and know how it wont be heavy or that complicated. just sayin...

Anyone with fair skin reminds you of Michael Jackson? Maybe you should consider it's a natural trait of redheads. Less melanin I assume.

Disclaimer before anyone reads this post: I love FemShep, and I regularly play as FemShep. I even voted for the general look they ended up going with. (Only blonde, not red) I am also really stoked at how much attention FemShep's been getting in advertising for ME3, and thrilled to no end there's a trailer featuring her.

But, I can't honestly say I like her look. I've tried, and tried, and tried...but I can't make myself like it. From the minute I first saw the full face reveal, I was disappointed. I watched the trailer again several times, but it's just not jiving. I know BioWare is always open to constructive criticism, so I'm going to give it. There are three main issues I want to address:

1) Her face proportionality is off...I think I can even pinpoint it. It's very wide, and she's got very severe features including a heavy-set jaw, very high and prominent cheekbones, and just a bulky facial structure in general. Then you add a delicate little nose, cute lips, and huge eyes, and it makes it look pretty unnatural. I know BioWare has tried very hard to make a FemShep that looks realistic for us, but I don't think they did that very well. She doesn't look real at all to me...not like any actual person I've ever seen. It's almost as if they tried too hard to combine a strong look with a feminine look, and it's not working.

2) I don't think she looks that much like the original FemShep art we chose to be her default appearance. In the art, her facial features are more delicate and proportionally correct: she looks real, like that face could be the face of a real person. The in-game result doesn't seem to have that same effect. The facial structure is more bulky, and her eyes, nose, and mouth don't work together as nicely as they do in the art piece.

3) At 0:43-0:44 in the trailer, she looks like she's got a bad botox job. The area around her lips is puffy and her lips don't move as fluidly as Sheploo's or even my CC-created femShep. I don't know if that's an early animation thing or what, but it jumped out at me the first time I saw it.

Overall, pleased with the trailer in general. I wish we could have seen her more with the other characters and had better face shots of everyone, but the concept is good. Can't wait to play ME3!!!

Seriously, what kind of military officer wears this much makeup? Why didn't you just leave her looking normal the way she does in all the previous games, why make her a space stripper? This is pretty ridiculous. She doesn't look like a grizzled military veteran who has fought in numerous battles, was exploded and torn apart in the cold vacuum of space and put back together.

While I don't agree with your opinon on the stripper thing, I agree with the rest, the maleshep looks like he's battled hardened, but this femshep looks lke she is just out of the academy, not someone who defeated Saren and destroyed/secured a collector base in a suicide mission.

That's it - that's what was throwing me off about her face before, but I couldn't pinpoint what the specific issue was.

The best thing about that trailer was Kaidan...I don't like her face too much make up, but to each their own. I have a nice Shepard now and BioWare isn't forcing me to use her.

I think that's lights. Doubt that customization is possible... but painting entire squad in pink will be cool :)

Woman in 'Male' Job + No makeup + Short Hair = ******/ugly/lol-boobs

Woman in 'Male' Job + Some makeup + Medium hair = barbie-girl/too pretty to do man's job properly/lol boobs

We basically can't win. It's the same logic that constantly, constantly b*tches about women being sexualized despite someone's best efforts to depict a character reasonably for everyone. (Though that is a totally different can of worms.)

Anyway! Yay Femshep! *waves more sparklers*
