I'm just glad to see Samara, hot damn. That's best news for me so far.

Best news for me so far as well.  I let out a pretty huge gasp when I saw her I have to admit    I'm officially super excited for this game...

Aside from the makeup/no makeup squabbles (personally, I couldn't care less about the makeup debate, gotta make the characters look good while they're kicking butt), I think most of the criticism has been constructive. Sure, they might be details...but detail is what we love about the ME universe in the first place. FemShep is coming under scrutiny for her looks because BioWare has made a big deal about making her look better for ME3, even going so far as to have the fans help them choose. I personally think it's fantastic that they took the time to do this for FemShep and the fans, I really do.

However, that doesn't change the fact that she doesn't look quite right. She doesn't look real at all, especially not next to face model-rendered characters like broShep, Samara, and Miranda. It's not even a matter of sexy/not sexy...I want her to look realistic, but I really don't see it with what I saw in the trailer today. I also feel genuinely bad about saying that, because I know a lot of work went into her, but it was a swing and a miss. Granted, I've grown more used to her, but at some angles she still looks really unnatural.

Default FemShep is the public face of female Commander Shepard. I always use CC and create my own Shepards, but my Shepard isn't the one on all the posters or in the official trailer. That's why fans care so much about how default femShep looks. Or, at least that's why I care.

In any case, I absolutely love femShep and always consider her to be the "real" Shepard. Jennifer Hale really brings the character to life for me, and I absolutely love how it immerses me into the experience. FemShep has deserved this kind of recognition for a long time, and I'm glad that she not only got her own trailer, but was equally distributed with broShep in the most recent trailers. I commend BioWare for being so dedicated to their fans and listening to our feedback, and I commend those who have worked so hard to get femShep the recognition she deserves. I love the artwork that the fans chose for femShep's new look, and I was looking forward to seeing how it would translate onto the screen... I guess that's a big part of my disappointment with her final look in-game.

*Shrug* That's my take. I hope it doesn't make me a hater.

You're no hater, this was a great response.  I think of a "hater" as someone whose criticism and negativity has a hysterical, sometimes unreasoned nature.

I can see where you're coming from when you say that FemShep looks a little off, but it only bothered me from that particular angle.  I will admit that it doesn't look like her face has been made based off of a scan like Sheploo's was.  However that doesn't necessarily mean that a scan would've been satisfactory either, considering how a lot of people feel about Miranda (though I've never had a problem with her [...starting to see a trend here...]).  Even so, I can see that not having a scan means that FemShep lacks a completely photo-realistic quality, and maybe even made her look a bit "cartoony."  In light of that, I think I can understand where your dissatisfaction is coming from, and maybe the root of it is that the design for this FemShep was never based on a real person.

That being said, I still think her face is unquestionably of a higher quality than her old default model, and far superior to anything that I've ever been able to get out of the Character Creator (though I love all 5 of my self-created Shepards).  I really do think she looks great myself, and I definitely think she looks good enough to represent female Commander Shepard and Mass Effect in a public advertisement.

Thanks for giving me something serious to consider; my earlier post was mostly addressing the make up debacle, which I still think is kind of silly (especially after seeing the lipstick-free FemShep from the demo screenshots).

^^^ this. yes!

The trailer was good. The problem is that this default female Shepard is quite ugly. Sledgehammer jaw, narrow forehead, very wide nose bridge, unfortunate lipstick. Also, the voice doesn't seem to match the appearence. It's reasnoable to belive that female Shepard is a bit butchy, but this is a bit too much and somehow she reminds me of Aveline in Dragon Age 2. I do hope that this thime the character creator will be far more flexible and appropriate because after seeing the trailer I intend to use it.

Nicely done. I was wondering how long it would take the 'Armada' song to make it into a Mass Effect trailer. Fits so well with the idea of an invading, well, armada.

I'm ManShep all the way, but that was a really well done trailer.

Beautiful trailer and beautiful Shepard. After my mandatory Sheploo first run I'm heading directly into default FemShep.

Was quite happy to see so many familiar characters, especially Kaidan. The closer we get to release date, the harder it get's to remain sane ;)

Looks hot to me.  The real woman sort of hot, not the high school cheerleader/nubile sort of hot.  Both have their merits but ultimately a real man wants a real woman.  Wants to lay her down by the fiyer, and make some sweeeet loooove...anyway I think I made my point.

Didn't read the whole thread, but her face just doesn't match the tough voice. WAY too much make-up. And the hair - isn't there some kinda common sense regulation about hair styles in combat troops?

The voice does not go with the appearance at all, that lip tone is very gothic, she appears to have some black muck over her face and overall the thing looks low quality.

Can do better in character creation so for an official model that is expected to be of higher quality than character creation like male shep is overall the official femshep gets a 'total stinker' rating from me.

Black muck on face evident here http://img842.images...46/femshep3.png

Best part?

She didn't look very happy to see Shepard (most likely Shepard).

Well, given the state of Thessia in what we've seen, I wouldn't expect her to be particularly happy about anything.

I think the trailer is in every way better than ManShep (with all respect to fellow ManShep supporters)

Why? It puts emphasis on our Shepard's real talent: Leadership. Not only can she do supermen-like actions, but also get her companions (even those of Cerberus) to fight for her.

This has become my favourite officilal trailer so far.

I will say however, that femsheps face does look a bit odd in some of the shots....still better than what I can create though.

Other than the disgusting EA logo at the start (like seeing "A Brett Ratner film" during the opening of Rush Hour 2), I liked the trailer.

Bad face, god. And I play as femshep.

Edit: I think it was stated that all of the voted femsheps would be available in the game. None of those hairstyles seem available either. It may seem minor to some people but after Skyrim and all the promises that were made of that game it is quite hard to trust some of these big developers. I have ME3 preordered, but if this is anything close to the unfinished quality of Skyrim or the amount of lies I won't be buying Bioware games, nor preordering any EA games.

Here's what I heard it say: "Hey look: this person deliberately chose the least flattering NeoFemshep screencap available to score a cheap point"

No I just chose the first one I found in this thread. I didn't go out of my way to find a picture of the new femshep. I haven't seen any good looking ones of her. Have you seen any?

The point of my post attractiveness aside was to show how fake the new femshep looks compared to the old defaults.

Meh I'll wait for someone to post the face code of poster FemShep. Hell, someone will make a mod if it's impossible to recreate that face on the default character creation screen.
