I'm all for choices, but honestly? Role-Playing mode should've been the first/default. It may be a minor thing, but seeing Action mode being first doesn't give the best vibe :/

Lots of newcomers to Mass Effect are going to get confused over this, and pick stupid choices like "Action". Then they'll come and rage at these forums.
I sure do hope this is not included in the final game.

The explanations seem pretty straight forward.

I don't see how anypony could be confused by them.

Role Playing clearly states "The traditional Mass Effect experience"...

I think Audio should come before Gameplay in the options menu. Gameplay "
being first doesn't give the best vibe :/ ".
Its like they're telling that the audio will be second-class.

who would do that? I mean either they had their finger glued to the button or sneezed and accidentaly pressed ok. But if you saw a screen like those you would be intrigue to look at the options. Beside I would have thought noobs pick story mode as that's the easeist

I want to know the difference between roleplaying and story Image IPB

Action is the route if you're not into upgrading weapons/characters/picking perks and you want all that done automatically. But what the hell is the other, which is the one where you have full control? And what is the difference?

Edit - I've checked the rest of the images, roleplaying is the one for me!

Combat are more easy and shouldn't be any real challenge, what matter in this mode is the story and dialogue.

I know people who don't play games where you get dialog choices. I also know a guy who saw me play Dragon Age once and he didn't understand the point of making a single-player game like that. These options are made for those people.

Dragon Age 2: "We want Call of Duties audience"
SWTOR: "We want World of Warcrafts audience"
Mass Effect 3: "We want Gears of Wars audience"

I'm gonna laugh when ME3 fails along with SWTOR and DA2

Ok number 1 made me throw up. Converstions play as cut scenes? What are you guys thinking? I understand you guys are trying to appeal to a diffrent type of people but NO just NO. You know what makes Mass Effect Great?

ITS STORY AND ITS ABILITY TO LET YOU CHOOSE!

Not its Combat and certanily wont be its Multiplayer. Those are bounes to an all ready great game. I can't believe they are doing this. A Linear story is not what Mass Effect should be. And Action mode is truring it into one.

I just dont understand is why? Why do this when you could just add more story to the game? Why do this when you could add more characters to the game? Why do this when you could give us more choices? Why do this when you guys could foucus on what you guys do best, telling terrific branching stories? Why do this when you could give more to the fans that love the game for what it is, Not something it is trying to be? Why just cash in when you could make an even more terrific game?

Why?

Call of Duty's* audience? How does Dragon Age 2 represent anything that Call of Duty has?
Sure it was simplified. But if their goal was to bring in first person shooter players, they didn't quite get the memo.

As for the difficulty thing here.. Ugh, the only thing I don't like about it is that Action is listed first. There's too many hyperactive children that will pick that first. Then again, they probably don't care about DIALOGUE and CHOICES anyway.

Roleplay should be the default, selected one. And probably not called Roleplay because too many people shun and cry when they hear that word.

Making an option for the game to auto-select conversation choices doesn't take away resources from designing a story. Your post is so monstrously stupid that I'm honestly questioning whether or not you're serious.

But someone may not understand the traditional Mass Effect experience if they're new.

But if it is the Traditional experience that means that the other games were like this...Besides what if they want action? or story for that matter, My girlfriend is new to video games and she doesn't like to be overwhelmed, she would probably go with story first until she gets the hang of playing games. People play differently. People like different things. If they can't figure out what they want from detailed options then thats their problem.

Why would anyone choose anything other than roleplaying mode?
