Lots of newcomers to Mass Effect are going to get confused over this, and pick stupid choices like "Action". Then they'll come and rage at these forums.
I sure do hope this is not included in the final game.

The explanations seem pretty straight forward.

I don't see how anypony could be confused by them.

That is either the strangest autocorrect mistake I've ever seen or a mildly disturbing reference to something any self respecting adult gamer should have no interest in.

No offense intended, just stating my perspective.

This is a reminder to everyone that swearing and personal attacks are not permitted in our forum. We can (and should be able to) disagree with each other without resorting to jerkface behaviour. Thank you.

Why would anyone choose anything other than roleplaying mode?

maybe because its called reaching out to a new audiance.

heck some people enjoy the real mass effect experiance wile others like to do run and gun cod type stuff

all this does is open other opertunites for different people who are new to the game and isnt a big deal

I'm gonna laugh when ME3 fails along with SWTOR and DA2

DA2 did well commercially,  SWTOR sold well and has 1.7 million subs, and ME3 has a ridiculous amount of pre-orders and is in line to sell more than ME1 or ME2 (especially with the multiplayer). They are doing quite well. :)

You are assuming these "ignorant" players actually want the classic mass effect experience and to make choices. Some new players, especially the type being attracted by multi-player, are just going to want to shoot things.

Because maybe they don't want too?... Does it really matter? Does it hurt you that people don't play game that you like the way you like?

I want to know the difference between roleplaying and story Image IPB

Action is the route if you're not into upgrading weapons/characters/picking perks and you want all that done automatically. But what the hell is the other, which is the one where you have full control? And what is the difference?

Edit - I've checked the rest of the images, roleplaying is the one for me!

Combat are more easy and shouldn't be any real challenge, what matter in this mode is the story and dialogue.

Thanks for that, you talking about the story mode? I got confused because I didn't check the rest of the images, I'm wary on clicking on too many links here in case someone is trying to send people to spoilers, but yeah, the descriptions are pretty self explantory Image IPB

Somehow the idea of you using the word jerkface is hilarious to me. Perhaps it's the Volus picture.

Strange how people get so upset over something that really doesn't affect them at all. How could offering more choices to the player EVER be a bad thing?

If YOU don't like the idea of playing the alternative modes, then I have a simple solution fro you - don't play them!

It's always baffling to me how additional (and optional at the same time) content upsets players.

I guess you can't please everone. But I agree, people complain about the smallest change. I garuntee if they changed the font in the logo some one would complain about that too.

Yes, look at how badly this horrible, horrible game is failing:

*shameless snip*

And how many of those preorders are from people, who don´t have ME1 and ME2? You spam that image everywhere. Even average husk like me can figure out, that lots of people will pre-order ME3, becouse they have played previous games.

Replay.

I assume that after my 4th or 5th replay, I'll probably just skip certain scenes...Sometimes I pick up ME2 and just want to do a speed run to blow off steam for a couple of hours..Would've liked an "action" setting..

The game is (about) doubling its previous pre-orders. Therefore it's not failing. What's your point?

As long as we can still play ME3 like the first 2 games -which we can-, I don't see the problem with this.

Well i am not a newbie and I love this option. It doesn't destroy anything. it actually allows for more I think. I will be playing on story mode for most of my playthroughs. until i get comfortable with the new system. just by its nature the new system will be more difficult (enimies fight better, smarter, and coordiante), and i dont want to sit there and die over and over again so that i can be challenged to use strategy in order to get through a scene. however, there are those that do and there are those that just want to fight (like my husband) and not have to make decisions all the time. This is the best way to do that, bring new players in, and satisfy returning players. win win!!

What everyone else before me has said, what's wrong with having game modes for those that cannot play games well or those who do not want to make the important decisions in the game and let the default ones slide?

It's not like the game suffers for it, and it's not like the game forces you to choose a mode that does not fit you.

You still have the option to play the game normally as a RPG. There are just two extra modes in addition.

Sheesh!
