or you know instead of just assuming what you do maybe wait till you play the demo tuesday

im as excited as everyone else but seriously people need to keep the whole omg they scrwed something up or omg a mode is taking away from the story.

just be patient play the demo tuesday than give your thoughts. its as easy as that

What am I "assuming"?

Action mode is just a mode where combat difficulty is adjustable and there are no dialogue choices. That's not assuming anything, that's just what it is- it states that clearly in the definition.

It's amazing how many RPG fans think that everyone hates the genre.

I didn't say that.  But if you don't have a predisposition towards RPG or Action, then RPG mode doesn't sound as exciting.

But Action sounds cool.  Why would you pick a mode with less action in it?

Add customisation options to Action mode and im fine.

P.S. - Action mode - action are predetermined or are randomized?

That's a good question. I can't imagine it would be randomized as in many cases a lot of dialog options in the ME universe are pretty cringe worthy if you aren't of the same mind as the line. Plus with randomization you could potentially saddle players with very, very unfavorable choices that would potentially lead to very undesirable endgames, which is a no no in game development.

Just wait til the game comes out, I'm sure there'll be some statistics to say which mode is played the most or least, then you can complain when you have something to back up the arguement.

From what I understood, Action Mode, first of all, is optional. Don't care for it? Don't play it and leave it to the new audience or those of us who just want to do a quick run.

Anyways, details. Action mode has auto-dialogue enabled from the beginning. Whether that includes major decision moments/interrupts or not I do not know, though that will probably be the case that it does. Weapons and stats I believe can still be upgraded.

Most importantly though, you can change things in the settings. You can turn off auto-dialogue from what I understand and change the difficulty settings.

All these modes serve as are starting templates that the player can choose to modify at any time. It serves to not have folks initially go and try and play around in the settings menu on things that they may not know how it will affect the game until they play it.

Why destroy the game for newbies by putting options like these in?

Lots of newcomers to Mass Effect are going to get confused over this, and pick stupid choices like "Action". Then they'll come and rage at these forums.
I sure do hope this is not included in the final game.

Lol. In fact, this gives "newbies" a better chance at survival if they go with story mode. In fact, it says it in the description. If you like action/intense gameplay go with action mode.

I'm not understanding your logic. More options is a good thing. After a few times of playing ME2, I just want to skip the story.

Does it really matter to you how someone else plays their game?

Yes. I bought the game, I'm damn well entitled to criticize how other people play it.

Because an optional feature like this totally didn't require the writers to write around it or limit other aspects of the game, it's optional and thus nobody should have an opinion on it if they hate it.

How on earth does this limit the game? Or why would the writers have to write around it? They write normally, then they or someone else picks the options that is default for action.

Wrong on both fronts. You haven't bought it yet, and you wouldn't be entitled, anyway. :innocent:

Actually I have. When I preordered from Amazon, that money is essentially no longer available. I can't spend it or I don't get the game.

That's how I'm viewing it and nothing you say can change my mind.

Um, how does that work?

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but the only thing Action mode is doing is automatically pushing the button for you. It's like taping down the x button for any dialogue section.

Seriously, how are you guys getting the notion that this would cause the writers to have to modify their writing?

Bingo.  Auto-dialogue is an option in the settings, and all it does is have the programming make the decisions for you.

I'm torn between RPG mode with Easy combat and Story mode. Does anyone know if Story mode's combat is easier than RPG mode with Easy combat, or are they essentially the same thing?

Because most BSN members are melodramatic dumbasses.

When people say 'preorder cancelled' can they state where and if it's a collectors edition?

Also, can you adjust the combat difficulty settings on those? Are these just how much dialogue you want control over?

I believe so. Story mode will focus more on the story - if you really wanted, I'm sure you could play story mode on easy difficulty to get the easiest possible game.

Doesn't matter how you view it because your view doesn't change reality, nor do I have to change your mind. Simply stating fact.

And maybe they did have to comprimise the wrting for this. We'll see. But this thread is months late.
