Especially the latter was a good look into how involved breeding is for the salarians and how it shapes their society...
Turians are the ones that are all over the map IMO. Supposedly most of the spectres historically have come from the Turian ranks yet both Garrus' father and Executor pallin who are "good" turians according to Garrus, despise the concept of Spectres....
So we have a race that are known as "people of action" and have long filled a role that requires individuality and working outside a structured environment yet the typical turian would hate the idea of spectres...
Confusing (although this is a good thing as it means you can't place a hat on the race easily).
Actually, I believe a sizable portion of the spectres have been drawn from the asari.
