Actually, I thought the two best looks into the salarian race was the background "three drunk guys and a stripper" and the quest to retrieve the lineage data.

Especially the latter was a good look into how involved breeding is for the salarians and how it shapes their society...

Turians are the ones that are all over the map IMO. Supposedly most of the spectres historically have come from the Turian ranks yet both Garrus' father and Executor pallin who are "good" turians according to Garrus, despise the concept of Spectres....

So we have a race that are known as "people of action" and have long filled a role that requires individuality and working outside a structured environment yet the typical turian would hate the idea of spectres...

Confusing (although this is a good thing as it means you can't place a hat on the race easily).

Actually, I believe a sizable portion of the spectres have been drawn from the asari.

I'm always open to more species characterization. Fleshing out the culture of the salarians makes me VERY happy. They were all kinda generic in both games, with only two salarians that actually stood out.

It's a little better than that as far as salarians with individual personalities:

Salarian Councilor
Kirrahe
Ganto Imness (the prisoner on Virmire who isn't brainwashed and insane)
Anoleis
Chorban
Mordin

Good point. You missed Maelon, Ish, The various "working class" dudes on Thane's recruitment mission
and Jaroth though.

No, you just edited them out of my post. Not quite as obnoxious as your typical routine though.

Turians are a very militaristic race but they also have a strong concept of unity, loyalty, honor and rules, it's what defines most of their society so I think it makes sense that many Turians despise the Spectres, people who can break the rules to get the job done.

Hah! I love this.

Really enjoying this series.

Jessica, are the ANN stories in addition to the Cerberus Daily News restart that was hinted at months ago? Are there going to be CDN stories running two weeks or so before the ME3 launch?

Can someone explain the meaning behind "Token Mammal"? Is it referring to humans (as the only mammal species), or to salarians? I'm confused.
