Thank you, very interesting. Sadly most of those are in books so I can't read more, but interesting nonetheless.

Actually, I only mentioned a book or two in passing. My links lead to GoogleBooks or (perhaps the most interesting link) a translation site for things like General Marius' accounts and such.

Edit:

I was talking about chapter 1
Aribeth, never finished NWN1. In CH1 she seemed like a strong-willed,
disciplined warrior and someone you could go to a fight with and also
spend time after it..

Aribeth becomes one crazy ass ****. :pinched:

Fair enough.  Agree that was entirely true, and hence the mod riot to finish her story properly when the ball got dropped.  Didn't mean to cross-game spoiler you mildly there.  Excellent mod, imho, on memorableness.

The most interesting link by far is the translation one, containing such gems as a Roman general who is casually executed by an enemy soldier rather than captured for ransom - because he was fat and slovenly, and the soldier didn't realize he was important.

Ok..So..apparently people are stuck on this..I hate to break this to all you people..this game, it isn't real. The rules you have been brought up to believe...don't apply.

And finally, all the cultural and gender barriers, Don't Exist.

So, Why exactly are people hellbent on applying real world logic, philosophy, gender bias, and many many other things that make absolutely no sense, into a completely different universe. Is it possible that in Dragon Age the moon is made of cheese?...Yes, it actually is...Why? because there is no proof otherwise.

There is also no proof that the world is round, That oxygen exists, or that people even eat food, or use the bathroom. I don't see any issues being raised with these things...and yet we go back to gender bias.

Just drop it..its a completely different and made up universe..the Rules as you know them don't apply.

It's the same story on any game that allows for role playing. Some people just can't get it out of their head that we're not playing our selves and can't imagine playing a different gender. Playing a different race somehow works, but not gender. It's all very stupid, but unavoidable sadly.

Sure it does, Sten asks about it. The female response tends to point out that Ferelden women aren't bound like that. The funny thing is, Ferelden is considered "barbaric" in Orlais and Antiva - which is consistant with the real world in terms of women warriors.

Soooo, you want to see more big buff men in the game do you?

Are you sure you're not a woman?

He means those gender barriers don't exist in ferelden. No one can deny that in Orlais women are discriminated against.

1. If the world wasn't round, I'm not certain there would be an atmosphere and everyone would die.
2. If they have no oxygen, what do they breathe?
3. Actually there are plenty of references to eating food.
4. There is also evidence people go to the bathroom. Starting with the guy in the cage in ostagar.

As far as the physique bit goes, well...

I'd actually chalk the stats on women's physiques versus men's to the fact that society has a different idea of what they're supposed to look like. If a woman wants to be a kickass soldier/warrior/etc, she certainly can. Due to the whole hormone effect, men tend to have a leg up on raw strength, but you're deluded if you think that's enough to make for your conclusion.

Also, women tend to have better fine muscle control, making them better shots on average than men because they can aim better.

Being a woman and having been in the military I can say that this is plain false.  I'm sure from a politicaly correct point of view there are a lot of people who WANT it to be true, but PCness starts to fail when you start blindly believing what you want to in it's name, and ignore reality.  On averave men have much better ability to both build and maintain musculature, they also have much better hand eye coordination, their brains are built around manipulating spatial relationships.  Like I said though, thats on average, thats not saying if you pick a random woman and a random man out of a crowd, the woman won't be better at those things.

I'm sure if you don't have much contact with "MEN" and instead are mostly familiar with pasty PC gamers, you might have trouble buying into that.  If both sexes are from good genetic stock, and build their bodies and minds to be the best warrior they can, the man will always comeout on top in matters of physical combat, despite what your anime might tell you.

I'm a male and was also in the military(Army Rangers for clarities sake) and while what you say is true don't sell yourself too short.  Women typically have better observation skills, particularly when it comes to picking out colors(camo), making them excellent snipers.  Also, remember that in these times the dexterity advantage a woman has would actually be applicable in combat, whereas in the current state of combat it isn't.  Noone dodges a bullet.  Women are also typically smaller targets which doesn't do you much good in the current age, but in the past it would be easier to fend off blows in such away to allow faster ripostes and other counters.   While it may sound like women are more suited toward support roles that isn't necessarily a bad thing.  The frontline is not as heroic as you are lead to believe.

If you like "Morrigan" in the game watch "Farscape" and you will see that beautiful woman in the flesh.

Aeryn Sun is a woman to be worshipped.

Ok..for point one you are introducing real world logic..which is irrelavent..same for point 2..for point 3, sure there are references..but do you ever actually see them eat..same with point 4...do you ever actually witness anything?..as far as we know its just wild speculation and the guy in the cage just wanted to get back at the guard.

She's in Stargate SG-1 now as well, no?
