I'm stunned at these facial animations I'm seeing in the demo and not in a good way

I will reserve judgement for the final game. Since the demo is basically the same build they've been showing for months, I don't see why anyone would assume that it is final code.

I'm not buying that excuse anymore with less than one month from release.

Yeah, and why release a demo that is a months old build?

The lip synching has always been off, in both games. Not all the time, but it's had it's share of obscene moments.

I hope to god Sheploo can smile correctly in ME3.

You guys realize that the demo build is only days apart from the final build, right? You can't use the "it's an old build" excuse anymore.

I can't remember the last time I cared about how a face looked in a action rpg game...I kind of care more about the story and gameplay mechanics...

Totally agree. Incredible that this is turning out to be such a big issue for people. To each his own of course, but really the story and gameplay is what counts for me.

Can't say much about that but as you brought that up I will say that MANY MANY demo use 1 year to 6 month E3/whatnot build.

Most facial animation systems look bad until you adjust to them.

Well this pretty much sums it up. I can't remember playing a single game where animations bothered me. Sure if they're bad they break the immersion for you at the beginning, but after a while you stop noticing them.

With that said I don't really get an uncanny valley vibe from the trailers. Sure there are times when it looks pretty odd but overall I don't think it looks any worse than the first two games.

I wouldn't buy the game if I were you guys...

Funny though that with almost every game that has a demo people think that the final game will be totally different and muuuuuch better. That's naive. Might be slight improvements but not to the extent some people want it. Like I said though, I really wouldn't sleep a second less because of this. I loved ME1 and ME2 and I'm sure Bioware will deliver with ME3.

Same here, but this is something to think about going forward. I generally thought that ME2's DLC had better facial animations than the main game, so hopefully that'll be the case here as well.

Yeah, apparently the concept of pre-release demos being based on old builds is something I made up. I wonder why so many of them have a fine-print warning that indicates they are pre-relase code. Oh well.

Back to your complaining about a product none of us have seen. Carry on.

Oh noes! Apparently someone has to be satisfied with every aspect of the game in order to be the intended audience for it!<_<

Oh man i remember the god of war demo and that was rough, yea the level was still in the game but it was a rough build and it showed, when the game came out and when i came to that part of the game it looked a ton better so i never judge a game by the demo, sure the location may be back in the game but its had a nice facelift to it :D

If you would have read my post, you would have seen that I'm not the one complaining here. :?

Only thing I'm saying that I've seen so many times that people see a demo of a game, they see thing X they don't like, they blame it on old code and in the end they're very disappointed with the final product since thing X hasn't changed a bit. Let's call it a profit warning.

You read the quote, right? "Might be slight improvements but not to the extent some people want it." Of course the demo most likely won't be exactly the same as the full game, but making it available this close to the release date pretty much guarantees that it'll be based on a "recent", if not "very recent" build.

Jeff, point me towards one post where someone claimed they would boycott the game because of this particular issue.

Maybe BioWare wants people to think they're product is bad? Oh wait...that would be stupid.

Seriously? Some wonky facial animations do not make a bad product and demos are made on old builds all the time because working with the final build would leave them almost no time to get it out there.

I remember the DA2 demo and the final product, some tones on some of the lines changed and the animations improved.
