Ok I just watched both videos over about 30 mintues. After watching the dialogue of maleshep/female videos interchangingly, most of the dialogue seems to be in synch. Actually all of it seems to be. The problem seems to be more about the animation at some parts in said dialogue. The most clear mistake is the line everyone is linking to is when the player picks "We should've prepared more." and says "You know we're not ready if it is them, not by a long shot." What's underlined is combined into one continuous lip animation which doesn't look right. It happens in both maleshep and femshep playthroughs, but to a lesser extent with femshep animations. Everything else (that you can see since the camera is moving so fast most of the time) has the right timing, animation and synching. When you follow the link and are looking for an error, you come across it easily. When you watch the videos over and over or are not looking for it you don't see it as much.
Another problem is the closeups of maleshep and Anderson having their mouths "twitch" a bit at the sides and don't prenouciate much in long dialogue. Again the more I watch though the less I notice it. My brain is beginning to play tricks on me.
So I've been replaying this intro for the upteempth and trying to isolate what exactly is wrong with the facial segments and it seems I really can't. What I mean is that there seems to be a bunch of minor issues that add up. The facial animations are obviously not very expressive in many scenes but it's not just that. Lip syncing seems to be slightly off in a few sequences that hallway was a particular example. I'm watching the sequence on my Xbox and it seems like one of the issues is the frame rate is jumpy and it seems to screw up the lip syncing. Another is the scene both during and after you try to talk the kid out of the vent.
