despite what has been posted from quotes and the devs themselves people run back to the same thing.

the everyday arguments and whines on the bsn

nope not true bioware did da2 so we just know me3 will follow its path even knowing a diffrent team did that game.

or nope the clip system is  catering to the shooter fanbase

or oh no me3 has breathing masks and despite the fact we got 6 trailers in 24 hours hours im gona complain on how the facial mods look unrealistic,

or the typical   ea is to blame for multiplayer and that bioware has lost full controll of there franchise.

or the developers just lie to us because ea controlls them

its the same thing everyday on this board and if people are that paranoid about it you have the option to not buy it

i meen jeez we are all adults here and alot of them are acting like a bunch of kids

Look at the ME3 Squad:

James, VS, Liara, Garrus, and Tali

Notice something similar about all the characters? Excluding Vega for being a new character, every one of them FOR SURE lived through ME1. Wondering why Wrex and Kaidan/Ashley aren't permanent squadmates in ME2? Because there is a good chance that they would have died in a large number of playthroughs, so there is no point in creating extra content if half the players won't see them anyways.

This is the exact same reason why most of the ME2 squad have been reduced to “non-permanent roles”. Think about it, would Bioware really take their time and money to design full dialogue and story-changing missions for characters like Jacob or Jack, when a good amount of players left them to die during the suicide mission? For the same reasons, it would be a complete waste of resources to fully include all TWELVE squadmates in ME2 when any or possibly nearly all of them could have during the events of the game.

So what’s the most logical way to meet the scope of the design while still appeal to the fan base? Only assign permanent squad statuses for let’s say… characters that have been in the series for a long time and have a large fan-base? Well obviously this points to Garrus and Tali.

Also say what you want about Tali but it is hard to argue against the fact that Tali’s role in the story (with regards to the Quarian vs. Geth conflict) is much larger than most of the other squadmates in ME2.

They took the time to write full dialogue for Garrus and Tali, and they could have died too.

Flawed logic is flawed. and lol @ Tali having a larger role than the other ME2 squadmates.

Agreed.

If ME2 Exclusives + Garrus AND Tali (and Liara) were all given these cameo roles, it wouldn't be so unfair. But it is obviously not equal here.

Because none of the ME2 squadmates were supposed to be back but since Garrus and Tali were the most popular ones (not to mention they were in ME1) they decided to bring 'em back. The rest didn't come back because Bioware wanted a fresh new squad for ME3.

SIMPLE.

If that was the case then why is James Vega the only new squad mate? Liara and Ashley have been there since ME1. It wouldn't surprise me if we got a lot of time in with Wrex also. In fact I am hoping for more Wrex time because he was my favorite ME 1 squad mate. Well him and Ashley. I was disappointed to have neither of them in ME 2 though Grunt and Jack filled the void some what.

Of course, but given their big fan base it is more likely that more players allowed them to live after ME2 when compared to other squadmates.

And yeah characters like Miranda, Jacob, Thane, Kasumi, Samara, Zaeed, Jack and Grunt would not have really affected the story of ME3 if they were not present in ME3.

Look at the spectrum Bioware is facing: At one extreme they can only have permanent roles for VS, Liara and James = only three perm squad mates. At the other end they can design permanent roles for all 16 (?) squadmembers to ever have existed in the series and take 10 years to design the game. So they decided to go for the middle ground: assign permenant squadmate status to those who for sure survived and those with very high chance of surviving.

theres a differance between listening and whining

and the truth is despite all the information that was posted within 24 hours  people still ask the same thing like if its not enough.

just look in the bioware isnt the same bioware thread. its ovious the guy is a troll with multiple accounts

heck im impatient myself but seriously do they just expect the developers to just spoil the full game before release?

I'm simply pointing out the theroy of debating. There is nothing stopping anyone from using these fourms, but for the sake of everyone, do fools have to unleash such terrible trolling and then qoute your own posts?
Fools insult the opposition. It dosn't strength your arguement, it only points out how immature you are.

Tali will have a large role in the Quarian vs Geth conflict, can anyone doubt that? We know she says some think of making her an admiral, I'd call that a pretty big deal.

She is one of the most important squad members in ME2. The others are Mordin, who is busy making a genophage cure, which you know is important and Legion who has to deal with the Reapers ( I think ) using a virus on the Geth as a whole.

Garrus is there for fan service, Tali is not. Who the **** do you think is more popular? Garrus.

With the exception of Wrex it just looks to me like the ME1 squad and new characters. Character popularity was always going to play into it, but this just again feels like Bioware shrugging off ME2 as nothing but an expansion pack of the first.

They made it too difficult for themselves with an extravagant 13 member squad. You guys are first and foremost paying for that fault, because at minimum Jack, Miranda, Legion and Grunt I would have considered logical crewmates.

The magic truth? Character <x> that you want to see is not as integral to the story as the characters who have meatier roles, and BW probably wanted the story to be tighter - the end.

Agreed there. I was actually very surpised to find Mordin as a temporary squadmate due to the importance of Krogan vs. Salarian conflict as well as the genophage cure.

This.  I'm surprised it took 4 pages for someone to lay it out so plainly, but that's the reason right there.  Garrus and Tali could have died too, so why them?  "Fanservice" is an answer, but stats may also play a part.  I imagine they know how many people kept Garrus and Tali alive at the end vs. Jacob....  Its nice to have some connecting thread through all 3 games.  It would have been nice if at least one ME2 member made the cut, but then we'd just have to listen to fans of the other 9 howl, I suppose.  Its the curse of success to write so many memorable, intriguing characters that fans can't stand you don't keep writing them.

I liked the ME1 characters fine.  I liked the ME2 characters even more.  Enough that I got over the fact that most ME1s were sidebars in ME2.  I'm betting that I will like the characters in ME3 enough that I'll forget about being angry for the ME2 chars as well.

Plus its easier and more cost effective to do a contained, even if detailed, sidequest and subplot with a non-party character.  Then you can record all the dialog in one go and cut that section easily if that character is dead in my timeline.  And its arguably more satisfying in some cases than waiting all game to expand on what is really 4 total conversations.

Just my 2 cents.

Not really a big deal. Sounds like they were going back and forth and that was just their deciding factor. Not like they completely abandoned some big plan they had for her just because her fanbase wanted her back. Besides which, I think she may be optional anyway.

I agree with Spiros on this one, though. If it's better for the character-arc and story, many squadmates are probably better off out of the permasquad. In fact, someone not getting their favorites back on the Normandy really is not missing all that much. Compare DLC Liara to a ME2 LI Squadmate...

Liara in LotSB --
Dialgoue pre-mission.
Dialogue during mission.
Dialogue post-mission (& love scene for Liaramancers).

ME2 Squadmate, romance option --
~ 4 conversations on Normandy.
Love scene.
Mission banter.

Other than party-dialogue, you really do not miss much.

Off-topic: You actually have an archive of your posts?Image IPB ….and you name them “Winning posts from HYR”? Image IPB

On-Topic: It upsets me that a lot of the teammates won’t be returning to much except for cameos. I understand that all can’t make it in, but it seems odd to me that you can have quite a bit of dialog with Diana Allers if you so choose, but very little from Miranda. Also,it isn’t the fact that certain characters are only making cameos as much as it’s how these characters are “going out” or the in-game reason for them being excluded. Some of them are just…wtf worthy. Well, if the leak is anything to go by. I suppose we’ll all find out March 6th. As of now, it's just speculation and opinion.
