Ok first off let me state that Insanity is far and away much harder than any of the previous ME games. I would not advise anyone to do Insanity even if they played it on the previous games. Your shields can't withstand gunfire for less than a few seconds from basic enemies, more powerful enemies rip through it before you get to use a power, and your health bar is like paper. I ran out of ammo for the assault rifle a few times but never ran out of ammo altogether. Your companions weirdly enough though seem to handle it better, it seems they either have more health or just stay in cover more. You also can revive companions for free but you need to get close. If you're far away, you can just use a health pack(one health pack revives both squadmates and fills your health bar). Do be careful about how many health packs you use as spare ones give you EXP, yes EXP instead of credits. I applaud the developers on that as it seriously encourages people to try and get through fights in better shape.
Enemy AI is pretty aggressive. They attempted to flank me multiple times and lob grenades which made me move. Grenades are extremely annoying in that they are a one hit kill and can really screw you up at times. Turrets are ridiculous in that they have insane amounts of health and the speed in which they can kill you is way too quick. Protip: Kill all the Engineers before even thinking about touching the turrets. I saw some of that supportive A.I. that I've seen the developers bragging about it. Atlas was a pain and attempted to follow me but the supportive Cerberus troops made it even more annoying. The game is more fun when you're not grinding away against a single enemy. Also it seems like no you cannot get in the Atlas in demo.
Combat is glitchy especially when you do motions in cover. What will happen is that the character won't aim down sights properly. I'm of mixed opinions in regards to the combat movements. It's certainly snappier but it still is a little clunky and not as fluid as I would have liked it to be. It also seems you cannot go directly into a roll when you are ADS. Power combos are great and effects are amazing. Singularity+Warp is awesome to see. Stasis was also surprisingly useful. Aiming is good.
Graphics are great for the most part. I noticed a few very very low rez models on Earth but I had to go out of my way for the most part to see them. The biggest compliment I have for the demo and developers was the outstanding music. The music is very much in tones with ME1 and it stands out more compared to ME2.
Level design is kinda already known at this point. I would like to state though that one fight was a multi-stage one with Cerberus shooting at me from above and me going up there to clean-house. I thought that was pretty fun and hoping to see more like that.
My biggest gripe with the demo as I've already stated in another thread was the facial animations. The humans in particular stuck out although I thought the body animations were very good. I also noticed some framerate drops in the cutscenes on Earth although in combat it seemed pretty solid.
As for Kinect, I started to use it on Earth and quickly stopped in Sur'Kesh due to the speed of the combat and my own frustration. It worked okay but the power wheel was the faster and easier solution in many a case. I wanted to use it more but when I got into the zone, I just stopped.
No weapon customization or armor customization in the demo.
