So nobody knows what the Sentinel and Vanguard melee attacks are?
Sentinel heavy melee is a cross slash outward with two omniblades. Vanguard I don't know.

The kid getting blown to bits by a Reaper is beyond sappy and completely amateur hour. Not even trying with that scene, Bioware.

The problem is you, not the scene

It's not the double punch anymore. It's a scissor-cut. Think of a football referee saying "No good."Felidae_5 wrote...

The intro leaves a lot to be desired. It's far too short and rushed. Shepard has obviously taken a lot of canonizing, really solidifying his personality a lot more in this game evidently. I don't mind that much, ME never really left room for very varied roleplaying anyway.
Nevertheless, should be good. PC version will no doubt look 100x better.

I don't understand the point of the scene. Yeah, a kid dies. That sucks. But we haven't known this kid; we know nothing of his character, his life. It'd be a much better scene if someone from the previous games unexpectedly died rather than some random kid to whom we were only recently introduced.Thoth_Amon wrote...

It annoys me that people like to just randomly toss in a character to which you don't have any emotional attachment just to show what's at stake or in an attempt to derive an emotional response from you. Hell, I cried when Brooks Hatlen killed himself in the film adaptation of The Shawshank Redemption, and he was an old fart who probably wouldn't have lived much longer anyway. But the important point was that I'd grown to care about that character through the detail the film provided.
Redshirts do not an emotional response make! Even if they're kids. Still, it's not a dealbreaker for me. Just a brief moment of fudge.

Allow me to explain in more detail why the Infiltrator is easily the best class now. So I shoot one guy, stun him due to Disrupter. I then Cloak and go up to another enemy and blast his brains out with a shotgun. It also seemed I could get multiple shots off while cloaked. While the first enemy is recovering, I can have Liara Stasis him while I go after a third or Cloak again and shoot him in the face. I roll back and take cover for shields to regenerate. I then repeat the process all over again. The Cloak CD for the first time is ridiculously fast.
None of the classes can work that well. I doubt even Vanguard will play that well either due to how thin the shields are. Disrupter is also so much better with the quick stuns. The best defense is really not to be seen as even in cover your shields can get chipped away. Soldier can't be out of cover long enough to do serious damage and Liara has the best biotic ability thus kinda neutering the Adept class. I didn't mess around with the Engineer long enough but I had a feeling drone was going to be useless again so I stopped so it's possible.
Oh and if one of my squadmates goes down, I just Cloak and go over and revive him without being shot at.
I disagree, Infltrators are the best gun/dps class now. Vanguard and Adepts are a whole different story now. They don't even need to use guns any more.

Unfortunately, if the intro were much longer there'd be legions of people complaining about too much exposition and setup. And I'm not talking about the CoD crowd either. Some very respectable people on here (IMO) have voiced that complaint before.
*shrugs* I come from the days of Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears. I would have gladly taken an hour on Earth. Gladly.
But anyway, I thought it was very good for the most part. The canonization stuff... well, some people with fairly extremist Shepards are going to be upset for sure. I'm lucky in that the auto-dialogue matched my Shepards pretty well.

I haven't got to play the demo yet but from watching some streams of it all I could think was how freaking gorgeous the game sounds(looks too). Every single sound on the Earth level including especially the Reaper sounds and the guns just sounds perfect and makes it all seem real. I cant wait to hear it in person soon.
Finally someone else who notices the importance of sound and the skill of the audio team.

whatever you said before went down the drain the moment you say the drone was useless

lol, I understand that. I even acknowledged it in my post. Quote: "It annoys me that people like to just randomly toss in a character to which you don't have any emotional attachment just to show what's at stake ..." I'm just saying, it would've been better had they killed off someone we care about. I don't doubt that people will be upset by the kid dying, and it'll work for most people, but it doesn't really trigger any emotional / logical response in me other than, "Wow, that Reaper's a dick!"dreman9999 wrote...

If it works for most people, that's fine. I can bear through it even if I'm not fond of it; it's not a very long scene anyway ;]

No, it's incredibly cheap and trying way too hard to be "emotionally engaging." Just in case watching an entire city get leveled by reapers up close and off in the distance, the initial invasion in the court room with everyone getting blasted to bits but you and Anderson didn't set the tone and/or it wasn't clear enough through the previous two games that the reapers have unbelievable powers of destruction and are there to wipe out humanity, we get hammered in the face with that scene. The music is nicely done but the overall scene is garbage. Shepard's grimace makes me think someone passed gas on the ship.

To be fair, it's pretty much a Bioware staple at this point except the kid isn't your squadmate that gets iced during the intro level. One kid gets lasered, big deal. A lot more are going to die as well.
Everything else is phenomenal though!

I wound up using the Kinect more than I thought I would. On Insanity I still used the power wheel a lot to be precise and pause combat, but there were still a lot of opportunities free up my hands by using it. The enemy targeting of squad powers is a lot more precise than ME2 and I found that they work more often when the enemy is in cover/obscured than they did in ME2, which works to the Kinect's benefit.
I have a few minor grievance, but they are most likely training issues. Even though I percieved Shep to be way more responsive than in ME2 I had a challenging time navigating the battlefield. Shep would pop into cover, out of cover, do a combat roll, not pop into cover when I wanted her to, dance infront of Cerberus troopers, etc. I also wound up swapping weapons (holding down X) instead of reloading a lot, but I got better at that as the game went on. Even though I considered myself a pretty good ME2 player, ME3 is going to take some getting used to. At least now I have the demo for three weeks to train.
I'm also not a big fan of the segmented health system. On Insanity it just seemed very punitive, but I'll get used to it.
Favorite part of the demo.
Mordin: "Shepard, I need you to activate the pod!"
Mordin: "Quick, before Cerberus returns!"
Mordin: "Shepard, Hurry!"
Me: "Chill out Mordin. I want to explore and make sure I didn't miss anything."
Mordin: "Shepard, you took too long. Cerberus is back!"
Me: "What the..."

uhh you sure? Adept melee sends a guy flying with high force, while the vanguard does damage but with low force.
