I'm kind of disappointed they took out the character bits which were in the original leaked Beta. I also prefer some lines that were in that version, too.

That's most likely due to the demo using a "default ME3" Shepard, while the dialogue bits in the leaked beta were taken from an imported Shepard's dialogues.

AVPen knows how to be succinct. I do not.

The Demo is also sort of directed towards people who have never played Mass Effect before so yeah.

Just done playing it. Engineer. The turret is cool, harder hitting than the drone I think but immobile. Sabotage (also acts as AI hack) is also handy. The game is definitely more fluid and faster plus it is NOT hype about better enemy AI. I was a little inefficient but I'll roll it again to get a better feel for the gameplay.

Ooh, first class might be infiltrator, then. Cloak to an engineer's back...  the possibilities.

Not to mention sniping the Guardian through the eyeslot in the shield... probably one of the most satisfying things as an Infiltrator. :o

That really does sound very satisfying. I can already hear my husband cackling right now everytime he does it in game with his infiltrator...

I know I will already be playing my engineer and turning those damn turrets against their creators and using them to my advantage.

You can do that as an Infiltrator too, AND stay cloaked.

Amazing demo! I've never played any class other then the Soldier, so I'm loving the option to dive into a new class.I love the mechanics, eventually the multi' use of the A button isn't even noticeable and you will make it seamless before the demo is over. The grenades and the Omni blade make combat perfect and are so fun to play with even if you are getting your butt handed to you; you can die and still say "that was freaking awesome".

The upgrade system is awesome, and everything gets you experience points. It's really interactive in regards to how you want you character to span out.

As for spoilers, if you are a fan and have played the previous 2 games, you are not going to be spoiled by anything. This is a wide open story and you are barely scrapping the surface of anything viable. This demo focuses mainly on the game play so you can fart around.
I'm in the middle of an Insanity play through on ME2 and after diving into this demo I notice a lot of changes, albeit seemingly small are hugely impacting on how your Shepard feels and plays. I Honestly think this is so worth 3 or 4 play throughs.

Yes, but I also want to be able to make my own turrets as well. I will eventually play an Infiltrator, but I just all around prefer Engineer first.

So did another Adept runthrough. Worked much better the second time. Combos are really key for the class. The weapons really do screw you up. God knows why Bioware decided against letting you get rid of some of the weapons to reduce CD as that makes a world of difference. Also I figured out that Singularity+Warp is a OHK for turrets.

Cover controls really are a bit wonky in regards to getting into cover and I wish was smoothed out a bit.

One rather vain thing I'm noticing...?

Shoes...

They no longer look like platform shoes. I enjoy this.

I just played the demo as a vanguard. Since I don't usually play shooters on consoles (I reserve the Xbox 360 for sports games), I played on the casual setting. My thoughts:

The good

I like the environmental audio a lot. I want to congratulate Rob Blake and his team. Even on a crappy audio setup I heard they did a fantastic job. I have a better sound system hooked to my PC so I'm looking forward to playing the demo again.

The music is naturally also great.

Combat and movement is for the most part an improvement over ME2.

Squadmates aren't idiots anymore. Then don't stand on top of cover or at least they didn't in my brief play session.

The bad

Mordin sounds wrong. The voice is alright but the acting is not as good. Mordin lost his signature sniff, which is a mistake on both the actor's and the voice director's part. I ask BioWare to please put more effort in getting Beattie back even if they have to include his performance in a post-game patch. I'm even willing to donate some money if that's the issue. He just doesn't sound or feel like Mordin to me and I really don't give a crap about the ME3 Mordin as a character.

The armor and clothing textures are just as low res as in ME2 on the PC. I truly hope the PC version won't have a direct copy/paste of the same texture. It's not that bad when you don't sit right in front of the screen, but my PC monitor is within an arm's reach and I see all the details.

While I listed the combat movements as a positive, it doesn't always work flawlessly. Sometimes Shepard rolls when I want him to take cover.

Rob Blake did a bang on job with the audio. I can't get enough of these Reaper sounds.

The weapons also sound only about a million times better, no more Fischer Price toy gun sounds!

I'm a PC guy, and I don't have a chance to play the demo yet - but I did watch someone else's playthrough. I love how ominous the beginning is, but at the same time, I think the Reapers attack way too early. BioWare should have kept the tension running for a little longer.

And I hope Admiral Hackett survived the attack... Didn't sound good for him or the fleet.

He survives the initial attack, and you see him again in the london level, outside of that, I don't really know.

I think they had a pre-loaded arsenal based on the Soldier. I heard Infiltrators couldn't carry four weapons, but I had four, including the shotgun, SMG, HP, and AR. I think the demo's weapons are just pre-loaded that way...I started up a Vanguard and have the same weapons loadout. I really wish they would have made it possible for us to try out the sniper rifle, though...so far I've been impressed with all the weapons and I can't wait to see how they improved the sniper rifle!

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but the grab over cover melee attack is not a universal thing; I tried it on my vanguard and she biotic falco punched a mook.

Too bad they don't give you a sniper rifle so you can try that out...I did get a few shots in with the Mattock, though.

There's gotta be a trick to that...if you play as a Soldier you'll Omni-blade the guy without pulling him over, too.
