A few races need a couple of their worlds taken out to overhaul their culture and politics. These are the Batarians and Volus. One has a caste system (bad on its own) the other thrives on greed and lies.

As far as the other races go:
Anyone notice the bachelor party on Ilium? Sure, it could just be that the Salarian and Turian were just noticing the minor traits, but maybe they were right and the Asari appear like the female version of other races to attract mates.

Turians are awesome, a bit too militant and a few individuals need to die, but overall, awesome race.

Salarians need a good humbling, but great race.

People like to be anti-human because it's the cool thing now what with global warming craze and wars, but in the real world, you'd be stupid to think that no other intelligent races out there are going to have flaws, likely just as bad.

Quarians made a huge mistake and paid for it, they don't see the mistake because they haven't had a chance to talk to a geth since the war until Tali meets Legion. They didn't think of them as anything but machines before the war and as nothing but murderers after the war, they saw them as the reason they don't have a home world. Think about it. If the only understanding you have of a race is that they're the reason you have to live on space ships, leading to practically no immune system and every other race hating you, would you want to wipe that race out?

Krogan are awesome and capable of more than they're given credit for, it's just that their brutal world lead to a warrior culture and that translated to other races as "hey, let's make them into an army" and now they know no other way of living, but I think that's going to change.

Geth are just misunderstood and perhaps the first AI race to not want to destroy organic life in the universe. They are machines, but they seem to understand that even though organics are imperfect they don't need to be wiped out. The heretics were the result of a virus...if only they had better Anti-virus software.

I'm pretty convinced that if all the advanced races were wiped out, the Yog would be spared as they haven't left their home world, Vorcha left but mostly not by choice, meaning that they would become two of the main dominant races in the next cycle and even surpass the level of advancement the others had in the current one, maybe even mop the floor with the reapers, as they'd have warning 50,000 years in advance and have plenty of time to rebuild and improve on any anti-reaper weapons. So...Yog and Vorcha are plan B.

Reapers are a race even the Doctor could hate.

Canadians. Tired of them munching off Americans.

You destroy all of the Canadians in their poor wooded forests. Only to discover. Bioware IS Canadian. This is where you say ITS IMPOSSIBLE!!!! And then fall down a venetelation shaft until part three comes out.

Alternative Future
You destroy all of Canada, and then your much beloved Mass Effect series is never completed. And since all the notes are gone, you'll never know how it ends! Muahahah! These very forums cease to be.

 A race I can't stand?

It says something about the ME universe that I can't really pick one out as intolerable, every race has its good and bad sides

Apart from the Salarians.. they are the best race by a long shot

Not true during the Archangel mission we come across 2 or 3 Batarians in the Blue Suns that don't seem to care that you and many of their coworkers are human including their second in command.

In that mission, you are essentially signing up for "Operation Meat Shield".  Why would the Batarian members of the Blue Suns give you any crap when they know full well that Archangel is just going to kill you in a few minutes?  You're a means to an end; a tool.

Aria's bodyguard seems cool enough.
There was also a side mission at the end of which you keep to your word to a batarian, who seems pleasently surprised.. This may be more important than you think.

Seeing as Aria has respect for Shepard (as well as a bit of a fascination with them), it would be very hazardous to Anto's health to be aggressive towards him/her.  However, I will give you a bit of credit on this one seeing as Anto is a bit more friendly to Shepard that Aria's Turian bodyguard tends to be.

On your second point, I don't seem to remember the mission you are speaking of.  Could you provide more information on that?  I'm curious.

Can't find mission/assignment. All I remember is that batarians have a dark-skinned human male, whom you need to rescue. When you get to the batarians, you have the option to promise to spare their lives if they release the hostage.
If you spare their lives, they make a coment that shows they are surprised that a human can be noble.
Might be at the end of the mission to recruit mordin.

During the mission to recruit Mordin, you can talk to batarians and give paragon comments. There is also a plagued batarian you can heal.

That being said, Aria's pretty awesome. Only cool Asari in my eyes.

Pyjaks. I ****ing hate those things.

If you're talking about sentient species then my least favorite is probably humans. I don't hate them, but I don't like them as much as the others. The Volus beats humanity by a hair.

Edit: I forgot about Vorcha. Forget Humanity the Vorcha are the ones I hate the most. Plus they're the most fun to kill so it works out.

It's Mordin's recruitment mission. The Batarians are threatening Mordin's assistant (Daniel? David?), who they suspect of speading the plague. Shepard can negotiate to get them to release him. The after conversation goes something like this:

Batarian: We released him, can we go now?
Shepard: *holsters weapon* We had a deal. You can go.
Batarian: Huh. Human nobility. Never thought I'd see that. *leaves*

I hope this and helping the sick Batarian has some influence over events in ME3.

...As for the race I can't stand: TROLLS.

I cannot stand Volus....petty, little, greedy bastards....do not have the guts to fight a war...only hiding themself behind money and speculating on financial market if not on outright illegal activities. ( uhm this seems familiar....)

Liars, back-stabbing, ugly and cheating race. If they could reach an agreement with the Reapers they certainly would have sold their mother only to save their own skin. I hope they die in ME3

I can't stand Batarians and kill them every chance I get. But maybe that's because the developers present me with Batarian terrorists at every opportunity. I'm sure there are nice Batarians in the galaxy, but I haven't found them.

Some might call this racism. I say they are wrong. It's speciesism.

Not all Batarians are racist. THat's the problem with this thread. You can't judge an entire race on the actions of a few, just as in real life.

+1

So true, You should see some of the replies I get when I say I want the aide of the Batarians for the final showdown. We need all the help we can get....Despite killing 300,000 of them lol.

I'd really like a quest to recruit Batarian aid. That would take some serious diplomacy.

BTW, I wonder if the Hanar will be pissed Shepard offed the Enkindlers...
