Most definitely not a bad trade off, considering his armor is like one of the very best in the franchise:

Am I the only one who kinda likes the colors of his AA armor better than his standard blue armor?
(wish I could make out what the symbol/s are that are on the front of his chestplate and his shoulder pads)

And as far as as tight fitting ... go back and play ME1 again.

Pretty good Rocky Horror performance though, gotta admit.

Who said anything about form-fitting?  The top outfit simply looks more professional.  It looks like day to day wear on a ship, something one works in.  The bottom one looks like a costume.  Something bright and eyecatching and meant more for show than to serve a real function.  Not like Kaidan's outfit, where I could imagine him actually going out and performing duties.  Ash's looks like it's there for no other reason than for her to look pretty in.

Quite a few have suggested the new outfit is "hookerish" ... Image IPB

Won't debate a personal preference or taste in clothes but wanted to show that "non-realism" and form-fitting has been since ME1 ... Sorry but debating that the white & pink armor would be worn by a soldier is just a head scratcher to me. But if you can accept the first armor then her new non-armor is nothing.

They could have put her in something like this ... Wait! What?

I don't think the outfit is "hookerish"  I think it's silly and impractical to the point of embarasment.  The fact that Kaidan's casual outfit looks far more practical quite frankly makes Ash's outfit insulting to her character.
That was the nice thing about ME1.  If you didn't like the armor, you could change it out for something else..  I just finished an ME1 run.  I kept Ash in Onyx or Predator armor the whole time and she looked great.  Choice is a wonderful thing to have.

Also the fact that on the Normandy she looked like she's actually dressed to perform duties like the rest of the crew, officer and enlisted alike,  didn't hurt either.;)

Well, maybe there will be an alternate outfit that those who do not like her non-armor outfit. Personally I like the outfit ... it makes me think retro-60's sci fi but to each his own.

There have been plenty of outfits in ME and ME2 that I didn't like but it didn't stop me from enjoying the games or characters. Well, I was kinda scarred over that gawd awful dress Liara wore in LotSB ... But when Shepard and her started talking I forgot about the outfit pretty quick.

Maybe that will happen for you ... Ash will start talking and you will be able to overlook what she is wearing.

After this does any more really need to be said?

Male squadmate has standard uniform attire like everyone else in the Alliance.

Female squadmate has skin tight latex suit with bigger breasts and her hair out.

If you like it you're free to like it as much as you want but you cant deny that it is juvenile, (hateto****ingusethisword) sexist and completly in contradiction to her prior character.

God I'd love to see her original writer's take on this 'development'

I know, the thought police are telling us what we can and cannot think about her outfit. Really, is freedom of thought that threatening to you? Look, spout your opinion all you want, but if I don't agree with you, and I don't, I'd rather not have a label slapped on me as sexist and ignorant of her prior character. We get it you don't like the outfit, everybody has different tastes. Bioware is not going to ever be able to please everyone.

Well, I'll be waiting for mods to fix Ashley's outfit.

And hopefully for Kaidan's armor.
Armor is cool and fits Kaidan, but he's a Biotic. They are not effective with heavy armor since they get tired a lot, do to biotics. Plus, they need flexibility.

I apologize for not being clear. You're allowed to believe that but you'd have to be pretty ****ing stupid to do so.

The idea that Ash has long flowing hair, a skin tight latex outfit and bigger ****** not because of juvenile ******-bait fanservice is ridiculous. Bioware themselves admitted in the art book that they didn't make these changes because they 'fit her character' but because they thought her character needed to be 'more sexy'. Which, funnily enough contradicts what they wanted for her original design "We wanted her to look normal .... like a regular girl you'd work with".

If you like the having the female characters prance around in stupid fanservice outfits, fine. Just stop trying to deny what it is.

Oh look this fricking thread again.

I don't like how blue her uniform is but ehh apart from her looking like Smurfette I can't say I'm outraged or anything. I actually think the white pants looked better.

LOOKIE HERE.

Around the 7:15 mark or so.

They fixed the white bits of her outfit, her face textures, added to the facial animation, and I can say that whoever still had doubts and concerns about Ashley looking all herpderpderp from the beta leak can rest easy now.

WOOHOO.

EDIT:

then his face in the full game will not have that color white?

Because I am discussing how Bioware has destroyed the integrity of the lore and another of their female characters purely for sexist (stillhatesayingthat), juvenile reasons.

If this matters little to you then you need not bother posting, no?

Integrity of the lore?  They haven't had a consistent lore since ME 1.  If they want to destroy someone's look, let them.  It's not like Tali is going to actually look like a pig when you take that mask off.

It's not just your topic to be had as personal playground.

And I wasn't replying to you. I was just pointing out that it's silly to even worry about this. Ashley is Spectre as far as I am concerned, so I don't see why she can't wear what she wants. I didn't see any other Alliance personel in that outfit after all.

Just take it as her personal outfit and be done with it. :)

EDIT: And IF it really bothers you, pick Kaidan over Ashley.

I keep hoping that any minute now Chris L'otile is going to leap in and determinedly write his arse off to fix all of Bioware's mistakes and save Ashley from the editorial cutting board just like Chris Claremont did for Ms. Marvel a few decades ago (if anyone doesn't get this reference I'll post a link) by writing out the changes and restoring the character's dignity somewhat.
But of course as great as that would be, I suspect that would never happen.

I can say, however that if I were him I would be plenty pissed to see a character that I made get redesigned like this just for the sake of mainstream appeal. Hell I'm already pissed about it and I'm just a nerd on the web. The only thing keeping me from just throwing my hands up in the air and saying:
"F*ck it!"
And dismissing Bioware forever as America's answer to Team Ninja is that after reading the leaked script, Ashley's character at least remains intact and is done justice in some of the dialogues (especially romance). Also of course the fact that Bioware finally gave her armor and got rid of those awful white pants.

I think I've come to realize that as an Ashley fan I have to take what I can get, and while that's a very sad defeatist statement to make I have to admit, it could be worse. She could have Samara's low cut top or do the Miranda thing with constant arse shots, she could have had her personality totally rewritten to match her new look and gone into battle wearing nipple tassels.
So yeah, it pisses me off immensly but I've resigned myself to trying to look at the positives. But yes, I still am annoyed by this whole situation.
