Exactly.   While i have doubts about needing to "sex up"  Ashley, I see nothing wrong with her look.  Its an acceptable compromise, especially since she has the common sense to put on some fracking armor when she goes into combat.  If she had a Miranda style catsuite, i'd be pissed.

I dont ever normaly jump on the feminist stop objectifying women bandwagon, but when my step daughter is old enough to play awesome games like mass effect, i hope things are at the point where military women in videogames can dress like professional soldiers and wear combat gear in battle, instead of dressing like a 13 year olds spank fantasy, shoving their ass out.   FemShep and Ashley are a step in the right direction.   As much as i like her character, Miranda's appearance sums up the stereotypes of videogames being dumb juvenile entertainment.

ANYWAY,  theres already threads on this subject line.  How about we get back on topic.  Has anybody noticed any other fixes and improvements graphically from the leaked beta to the current demo?  Specificaly in lighting and facial appearance?

She's a specter now. While she has a security clearance, and works side by side with the military, she's not going to be held to military protocol or standards anymore than Shepard was in ME1. Being technically still in the alliance is just a technicality. She can now dress however she wants, and could even tell Admirals to go to hell too, although she's too professional to do that unless its absolutely necessary.

Someone should totally tell this to Kaidan.

Kaidan isn't a woman.^_^

True enough.

His outfits aren't required to look "stylish" or "have sex appeal" as part of the criteria.;)

They did comment that they made some design changes to make her more sexy. It was deliberate.

Its definitely a sexier look, for sure, which isn't so much the issue - as is why they felt the need to do it and if it makes sense for her character.

The hair down, the skirt, the larger breasts, the eye liner etc - it is most certainly a sexier look than her old look, and once again, they have said that was deliberate.

You know what I like? All the cuts and bruises I've been seeing people have in the latest trailers. No one should be coming out unscathed in a galactic war.

Anderson did look pretty banged up after that nearby blast. Uniform was torn up, and the medals and pins got ripped off. Nice attention to detail

I'm kinda in the middle of the seemingly polar opposite opinions here.

From the neck up, I actually like the changes to Ash's character model, especially the "new" new version from the demo, not the beta leak. Her hair is a minor quibble (right now) because she isn't in a combat scenario at the beginning of the scene. She had her hair down, and Alliance protocol isn't modern military protocol. I have no issues with hair down when not in combat. IF her hair is still down in a fire-fight, I'll have an issue with it, but we can't know this until the game comes out in March, so no use complaining yet.

Her outfit...I'm ambivalent about. I don't find it quite as offensive as other posters seemingly do, but neither do I feel that it really "fits" the Ashley Williams I got to know in Mass Effect 1. It does look like a short miniskirt with thigh high boots, even though it really is a long jacket with thigh high boots. What it actually is doesn't really matter, it was designed to up her sex appeal, and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it doesn't follow that it's a good thing either. In this kind of setting, going to meet the defense committee, it makes sense (to me) for her to be wearing an official uniform similar to Shepard's, or even a dress uniform.

If this is a casual outfit that she would wear in off-duty hours, I have no issue with that. Maybe she does enjoy that kind of dress, and good on her if she does. I just think it doesn't fit the situation. It's not professional enough, in my opinion, and this is kind of a professional situation.

So, while I'm not digging her outfit, I like her face, and I'm not too bothered by her outfit...I'm still in a bit of a "wait-n-see" mode for when the game comes out in 3 weeks.

What upgrades?  She's already the "perfect" person, and besides she already got a glimpse reveal in FemShep trailer and hasn't changed.

I don't care one way or another about her outfit, but I do really like that her hair is down now. I think she looks better that way.

I don't get why everyone is complaining about the hair bun issue. She looks fine with her hair down. It gives her a fresh look

+ if you guys didn't observe

In the ME3 Collectors Edition video, just at the 0:27 mark

If you pause, you can see 3 Ashley suits, two of which are with the hair bun (or at least pulled back by the looks of it)

Believe it or not female soldiers do at times wear hair down above their shoulders granted. but still.

Many female soldiers have longer hair and wear it down when they aren't on duty. but I can say once you must wear it up for work you almost always wear it up anyway.

Otherwise I think she looks fairly the same as always maybe a tiny bit older.

Isn't the up-or-down hair argument kind of moot as hair in the Mass Effect universe kinda... y'know... doesn't move?

Clearly military protocol is NO MATCH for space age hairspray technology.

It was also more of a "professional soldier" look.  Capable, functional, a "mature" look, one might say.  Style and sexiness, while there, we're a (rightfully ) secondary concern

It's more than that, although the hair is a good reason why.

No one is complaining about ashley's hair looking BAD while its down, the complaint is about profesionallism. Bioware already irks me with all the little military mistakes they made (and admitted making, so we can't just claim its the future and things change), each new one they make just makes my eyes twitch.
