Mass Effect 3 Antialiasing?!

It doesn't bug me that ME3 isn't on a higher level graphics wise though, I didn't expect it to be.

Yeah...I am pretty happy with it.  I haven't had too many games tax it at 1920x1200.  I also have a monsterous full size tower running everything.  It looks like a mini fridge.  I plan on upgrading the storage and make it my primary HTPC and media server.

For Antialiasing Compatibility use: 0x000010C1

Antialiasing Behavior Flags = None
Antialiasing Mode = Override
Antialiasing Setting = 2x or 4x or 8xQ
Transparency Antialiasing = 2x or 4x or 8x Sparse Grid supersampling (max limited to MSAA samples)

Downside is this method is VERY performance expensive as its true FS SSAA but the image quality and reduction of shimmering in motion is amazing.  For slower GPU configs you are better off sticking to FXAA/MLAA/SMAA injectors.


I have yet to find an AA mode in Inspector that works. I've used the one you said (0x000010C1) and the default ME1/ME2 one too. Any idea why that is?

If a game is developed for PC only, then it can have massive requirements to play & push your systems to the limits, ME3 wasn't. It just sounds like petty recriminations to me, "I've spent a lot of money on my PC & now ME3 is ruined by catering to those poor, dirty console gamers! *spit*"

That's where the elitism & snobbery grind my gears, so what if ME3 won't even test your system, you'll still play it, because it's the final act of a trilogy & you'd be stupid to miss out because your graphics OCD got the better of you.

As a PC gamer, what is frustrating to me is not graphic quality....It's that gameplay mechanics are dumbed down to grab a wider audience and make it easier to play with a game pad rather than mouse and keyboard.

The downside to FXAA is that it's no where near the quality of MSAA or SSAA and it looks like ass, especially text suffers the most from it. It's a mediocre solution to the MSAA/Deferred Render Engine problem.

I'm curious about what type of post-process AA ME3 uses.

SMAA or FXAA? Its hard to tell.
