He could have backtraced it and reported her to the cyber-police.

That's still somewhat disturbing.

All I saw was a guy who was humiliated, getting even w/ the person that humiliated him. There was no actual parenting here.

... I don't see how this could possibly be seen as good parenting. He acts like an offended teen himself, being all tough and waving around his gun. How grown-up.

There is no way this actually solves anything. As a parent you should always try to be the better person. And really that facebook post was not that bad to deserve all that. If that is the worst she has done as a teenager... it could be worse.

what an ars! It sounded like the poor girl was just venting. The father is the one that overreacted and humiliated his daughter and (unwittingly) himself.

Dude is whack. You really can't compare "Talks trash on Facebook" with "Pulls out gun and shoots things."

WHAT THE ****...Sorry, but this video really shocked me. In my opinion, both parties are in the wrong. The daughter is just 15 years old, a TEENAGER...What's the dad's excuse? He should know better and try to solve this by talking to his daughter...In fact, they both need to sit down and talk this out with each other. Having heard the content of the letter/Facebook post, it seems she is under a great deal of pressure. Girls, and kids in general, at that age indeed can be difficult to deal with, as they have to deal with school problems (trying to fit in, find like-minded friends, quarrels with friends, love, etc.), problems at home (the little brother who might be annoying her, her being misunderstood/not listened to, lacking affection, missing a feeling of security and acceptance, etc.) and just problems growing up in general. Her dad destroying her laptop using his gun (this is also the main reason why I'm against people owning a gun at home: they only do STUPID things with and don't know how to handle them properly, like in the case of this d*ckhead) will only make matters worse. If the daughter didn't have a reason to resent her parents already, she'll certainly hate them now. She'll only get more and more rebellious, doing more things wrong until whole the situation explodes and the relationship becomes 'unrepairable', leading to a definite break-up. Of course, what the daughter has done is bad and disrespectful...she should indeed get punished...but not in this way...You're taking away her main source of emotional outlet, old man...Now be proud of yourself for having acted just as immaturely as her...Only in her case she has the valid excuse of being young and inexperienced...Really, parents like this scumbag need some good parenting lessons themselves.

I was on his side until the pulling out his gun and shooting the laptop thing. Whatever his daughter had done, I think he escalated it to the next level. I think it would have been better for him to have stuck with humiliating her/reprimanding her on facebook. That bit about the "cleaning lady" was pretty bad.

No, what the guy should have done was say to his daughter  "Hey, listen, we need to talk..."

Doesn't work on everyone, with some you just can't talk. Sometimes you need to do something drastic as long as things don't get violent.

There's drastic and then there's stupidity. This is stupidity.

And talking works if you know how to do it.

My country is disturbing, and it becomes apparent when people think they can solve disputes with their children with guns. To think that there are people who think gun control is too strict here.

Talk about a stupid way to resolve a family issue. Maybe he wants his own reality show.

Yeah, it could've been a lot worse. Just because he uses a gun to get rid off the daughter's laptop, shouldn't make it in anyway different. It's not like parents haven't done it before or just thrown stuff into trash as punishment. It's still gone. He didn't shoot his daughter, just the darn laptop. And it was -his- laptop anyhow, he had paid for it he can do what the hell he wants with it.
