Edit: what I'm trying to say is; does my Shepard really need to kick
off the head of a former human being? That question just comes to mind
when I watch the second clip in particular.

I'm mainly talking about these shots i just came across.

Without whining I just don't think Mass Effect needs this but whatever, I'm more interested in your opinions

ps: just throwing some meat in the rabid dog cage called BSN ;)

well it does help for the war ambiance, not necessary but a "nice" detail

you could make certain enemies explode into meaty chunks in ME2

doesn't really bother me that much but I guess I rather wouldn't have it...

Because it's awesome. Making heads and bodies explode are two of my many reasons why I play games.

No problem with it, should've been there in ME1 and ME2.

I guess i just don't think a game like ME really needs it. I mean, I don't wanna jump to conclusions, perhaps this is part of a renegade system or something. But it just feels off to me and like it belongs more in a GoW game(both Gears and God). I guess I'll get used to it; I just feels like its just there for the shock value.

Hey I'm just trying to fit in the BSN whiny ****y jumping to conclusion crowd, don't blame me :P

ME2 had plenty of gore.  People were exploding left and right.

I disagree. Perhaps I had some weird censored european version (ninja gaiden anyone?) but the only way to make an enemy 'explode' in ME2 was to shoot it with cryo ammo which looked nowhere near as gory as this. Shooting off limbs was only possible with the LOKI mechs. Maybe some gory things happened in ME2 but to my knowledge they were never due to shepards actions.

It just feels wrong to kick off the head of a former human, but I guess thats the hippie paragon in me.

I could do without excessive gore in ME3. I would've kept it at at the ME1 level.

But overall, it really doesn't matter in the grander scheme of things. I'll still enjoy playing ME3.

Not a fan, personally. But other people like it, and in america it's an 18 anyway, so I'm not surprised.

Gore makes a game even better. Proof of this is Wolverine Uncaged. That game scored higher just because of the violence.

Quite frankly, it makes it a tad more realistic.
I mean, a man isn't going to take a heavy-calibre shotgun blast to the chest, fall back, and die with no blood whatsoever. It's like the enemies in ME2 all had heart-problems, and died from the shock.

Never shot any pyro vorchas or pyro merc troops in their gas tanks in ME2?  They blow up sending bloody chunks of their body flying across the room

I don't mind it - it doesn't seem to be focused on in the game - but rather just added for the grittyness feel - the head explosions in particular happen so fast in the game that in a heavy firefight you don't really notice them.

ME1 had a guy getting impaled alive in the first few minutes which more was much more : O than the brief moment of gore splatter.

Well, if you shoot someone with an Anti-Material Rifle the last thing that the guy keeps with him is corporal mass. So it makes sense, also, I doubt that the gore be as excessive as MK or GoW

I LOVE the new husks, there creepy. And I think its more of an increased IMPACT then a GORE increase, cause I can clearly remember burning enemies alive and throwing them off cliffs.

The current level of gore makes the combat feel visceral without being excessive. The new sound and feel of the weapons (much heavier, more substantial than previous games) would make a complete absence of gore more jarring than what's currently employed.

Well it is war story so having some gore adds weight to that. Just helps things feel more immersive.

I like the gore. And since they increased the gore, they better have sexy naked male LIs!
